Welcome. There is a lot you can do to help yourself and diet and exercise are a good start. Oatmeal and an apple (with peel on) a day plus fish oil help, too.

i would highly recommend you get a copy of CHOLESTEROL DOWN by Dr.Janet Brill. It is an interesting read.. easy to follow and her tips on getting healthy are worthwhile. Here is a link to what all is contained in her book...

Hi Everyone,

I have some heart issues and learned late January that I have high BP and was put on a med to help bring in down and relax my heart. I saw the Dr Monday for blood test results and since my BP has not responded as well as he wanted it to, I was given an additional BP med and also learned that my Cholesterol is high and was put on Atorvastatin Calcium Tablets 20mg. I have never been on meds and really would be happier if I didn't need them but I'll do what he suggests (I don't want a Stroke or Heart Attack). I have been a member of SP since 2009 and have been away for awhile but this brought me back for help with my diet. I found this group and hope to learn tips from those who have the same problem. Hope all of you are succeeding with your cholesterol trials.
