Welcome. I went through the steroids thing (not with chemo, though, for auto immune diseases) and it's very hard to lose weight and build muscle while on them, so you really have your work cut out for you. If the doctor hasn't done it yet, you might have him check that you're not anemic.

The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.--Socrates

Sounds like life has been hard on you, but you have survived it. I do hope you take this weight loss thing slowly. Don't cut too many calories too quickly or push too hard exercise wise. Figure out where you are right now, and make small changes. Small changes do add up over time. You can do this. Let us know if you have any questions.

I've been on countless diets. I've managed to not gain ALL of the weight I've lost, but have put 50 of 89 back on. I have well over 100 to lose. I'm very excited to learn of the diabetic tracking and challenges and team offered here! I was going to join Weight Watchers (again) but I think everything I need and then some is HERE! I have been dealing with stage 4 cancer for almost 7 years (given 3 months to live in Dec. 2008!) and have managed to beat that beast and keep on breathing and living, BUT I have not been able to beat the weight loss battle until NOW. I AM going to do it this time and am excited about the support and new friends I will find on here that share similar goals and struggles. Steroids I have to take with chemo make me hungry AND raise my blood glucose to crazy high levels, but I have to take them. I've lost a lot of strength being very sick this past summer and need to regain my muscles and stamina. Let the healthy choices begin! Looking for an accountability partner.

Hi. I'm Sharon and I'm excited about how many tools SparkPeople offers, especially for diabetics. I'm looking forward to meeting new friends and accountability partners.
