P.S. Just some ideas you might want to check out if you haven't already. Have you read what the Mayo Clinic and WebMD have to say about ways to lower cholesterol readings? They both offer good advice articles. Also, there are things like pectin ("an apple a day" may help) and plant sterols (you get them in veggies but they are also in some special margarines and you can buy supplements) that might help remove cholesterol from you digestive tact faster so it's less likely to be put into your blood stream.

Are you doing any walking daily exercise is another part of the equation and so is sleep and plenty of fluids.

It is not all about the foods but it is better to eat without a host of chemicals in your meals. Pat in Maine.

Welcome. The biggest thing with the sugar is it raises your blood sugar too high, so then your body rushes in with too much insulin and drops your blood sugar too low. That makes you hungry and you eat more. It also eventually creates insulin resistance, a precursor to diabetes. Better to avoid it as much as possible.

I need to know how, and support to follow through, to eat right to lower my 282 test result. I have been in the 200's the past 4 years. Will be checking out recipes, etc. I need to lose weight too (50 lbs according to Spark). Reading these posts, they say to cut down on sugar but my triglycerides are perfect. Do I really need to cut down on sugar then? As you can tell I'm new and I'm open to take any and all advice that is out there. Thanks. Have a good one.
