Welcome. Glad to have you here with us.

The heart burn may be a new sensitivity to a food that you've developed. Unfortunately, it's usually food that we enjoy that we become sensitive too. I once ate grated carrots on my salads every day and was drinking V8's fruit flavored juices which are basically carrot juice. After a while my gullet started to burn like crazy every night at the same time. I did an elimination diet and found out it was the carrots. I had to stop eating them for several years. Now I can eat them again in moderation.

You may find that once you start eating healthier a lot of gloom will lift, but give it some time.

The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.--Socrates

Don't worry about losing your motivation. It happens to all of us. It is part of the journey to getting healthy. I am wondering if you may be being hard on yourself for gaining weight. Instead give yourself credit for deciding to do something about it and try being kind and patient with yourself. You just may find your motivation coming back. . Also, read some motivation resources here. Good luck! emoticon

Hi to all! I'll be turning 60 in just two weeks (that in itself is unbelievable!) I've let myself go, I am 60 pounds overweight, have back problems and heartburn of which I am positive if I lost the weight some of those issues would be gone. I just seem to have lost all motivation mentally and physically and can't seem to get motivated with anything. I have lost my way along the road of life and I want I want to get it back. I have two great grandchildren that I want to be around for as long as I can for. So, I am taking my first step by joining Sparks. Anyone one out there feel like me?
