Welcome back! Wow, you've been through a lot. I wish you the best on your journey.

I haven't been terribly active on SP since I had my daughter 2 years ago. I try to check in when I can, but haven't been consistent. Between my daughter's erratic sleep habits, long commute, and everything else, I feel like I barely have time for anything, much less keeping fit, but I'm going to try to be more mindful. Hopefully, I'll see you on the boards, as we both start checking in more often ;-)

Hi there all! It been a LONG time.

Life got really busy and I just didn't make the time to get on spark people like I should have. I am taking this week to find my way around spark people (a lot has changed since I've been here last)

Recently there has been a TON of life happenings that has caused me to re-evaluate my health and fitness goals.

My husband's brother passed away a couple of years ago leaving a son and daughter (different mothers) This past September the daughters mom over dosed leaving little Patience an orphan. She is currently a ward of the state living with my hubby's mother. The social worker is working to give full legal custody to her. Once that happens we will be filing the necessary paperwork to legally adopt her. This of course means I've been eating (I'm an emotional eater) because we "were" on the last 5 - you know the last 5 years until our nest is empty...now it will be 10. That's all right though. This little girl has been exposed to drugs, alcohol, prostitution (her mom). She needs a stable home with a mom and dad figure who shows her unconditional love and put her needs first.

Moving on - my oldest child is now serving in America's greatest Air Force - like his mom and dad. And my senior will be leaving for the USMC after he graduates High School in June. The youngest boy will be a freshman in the fall. So again all of these changes are of course reasons to eat.

I have been a middle eastern dance teacher for over 3 years now, I even have a couple of children's classes. About 6 months ago I had a torn medial meniscus in my knee which made teaching and dancing VERY difficult - again another reason to eat. I was on crutches for about 4 months, used a cane for 2 months and still have to keep it tape when I teach so I don't re-injure myself.

Throughout all of this I lost my Aunt and Godmother which of course wasn't good on my waist line lol

What makes all of this aggravating to me is that I am a Certified Personal Trainer and a Nutritional and Wellness Coach, so I KNOW better.

So here I am not quite at my heaviest but still feeling like crap and I decided to get back on Spark People and start all over.

Journey to my goals:

I am taking this week to revamp my stuff here at spark people and find my way around again. I downloaded the food tracker thing to my phone and will be using that as well.

I am getting a 3 day pass for 24 hour fitness because my hubby gets a discount through his work and I want to give swimming a try and my local clubs have a sauna and hot tubs which will soothe my achy and healing joints!!!

I currently take dance class 2 hours a week and teach an additional 4 hours a week. I will also increase my daily dancing to at least 30 minutes 7 days a week. Although I will count this in my tracker I am not including these as part of my fitness plan to reach my goals - these are going to be my "bonus" activities. My fitness plan will include: weight training, swimming, structured yoga classes - at 24 hour fitness, and walking. Slow and steady y'all!

I will take some before pictures on Sunday and get them up and posted to my blog. So all in all this will be a great journey. My goal is to meet my goal weight and inches lost by May so that means I need to get on it!! I hope you decide to join me on my journey. We all need help and encouragement.

Happy Hip Drops!
