I am at goal and have been there for over a year. Don't post here much but read and get ideas about how to stay at goal.

Arlene,

I've been over 10 lbs.during my maintenance. That's all part of the journey. I hope you stay, but if you don't, hurry back!

A huge "ditto" to what everyone else has said. This team is not just for people who are at goal, but for everyone who is working their way there. Even the most seasoned maintainers among us still backslide from time to time and it's the very support that you can find on this team that often helps us to get back on track.

And I'll let you in on a little personal secret of mine--even though I've considered myself to be in maintenance for over three years I am ALMOST ALWAYS trying to drop some weight. The difference now compared to the past is that my connection here has prevented me from totally going back to square one.

Although I do hope you stay and will let us know how we can help you, we've got your back no matter what and will welcome you back with open arms whenever you're ready to come back if you do decide to go.

My name's Tina. I lost more than 90 pounds between March 2010 and March 2012 and have been keeping if off ever since. Had a baby at the end of April 2016 and am working to get back to my pre baby form, or at least as close to it as I realistically can!

I admit I'm a long-time lurker... emoticon

I'm also NOT at goal. I joined this team to learn what successful maintainers do as I'm a yo-yo-er. I enjoy the fellowship, relate to the struggles, absorb wisdom and share what helps me.

One of the top strategies of maintainers is to keep in touch giving/receiving support! emoticon

Hey, I have YET to even REACH goal...but continue to be here to share what I can and to learn and be inspired by so many on this wonderful Team. I'm sure other would agree that membership is not supposed to be merely a status-filled badge of honor or a rigid, exclusive club.

We're here to support, to inspire and to share our knowledge gained through hard-won lessons from our mistakes which we share to enlighten and teach one another.

I hope you'll reconsider leaving and perhaps swap that notion out for one where you make a commitment toward answering the question: How can I more fully utilize the resources of this SparkTeam?

I've been off goal since Dec 2014, I feel fake too, but I'm sticking with it.

Arlene,

Wishing you the best as you work to achieve your goals.

I lurked in the background for months reading posts and blogs from members of this team before I finally "joined" the team.

Reading helped me wrap my mind around this idea of maintenance. Honestly, I did not believe that maintenance was even possible because I knew no one in my life that had successfully done so. It was such a breath of fresh air for me to see this group of individuals that was actively working to maintain and supporting each other along the way.

So, from time to time I would read posts, blogs and check out the big page of links and when I felt ready I took the plunge and "joined" the team.

I know the feeling Arlene. I lurk most of the time myself, and read what blogs and posts that I can when I can. I'm a ways away from my goal also. Do what feels best for you. I hope you don't quit Spark all together though. You can get so much motivation and encouragment from other teams and places on this site.
My thoughts are with you, whatever you decide. emoticon

There's nothing "fake" about planning for maintenance well ahead of getting there. Lots of people join this team and "lurk" until they feel comfortable participating - I did that, myself.

But we also encourage people to stay and ask questions about what it will be like, trying to keep the scale the same rather than losing. Having an idea of what you're in for will make your transition to maintenance much less of a surprise or a shock.

See this blog post for an illustration of what I mean:

blic_jour
nal_individual.asp?blog_id=58

And we also especially encourage people to stick around who fall off the bandwagon (and most of us do, sooner or later). It's when we're struggling that we need the support here the most.

But of course, do whatever you feel you need to do. We'll support you on whatever you decide.

Just don't feel comfortable here --- yet. When I'm about 10 lbs to goal, I'll come back and join. Right now I just feel like a fake.

Thanks for everyone's support.
