Thanks for the encouragement and your story! It's only been a month, I think she'll eventually come around too! I am hopeful and anxious for her to play and chase a ball.

Thank you all for your welcome.

Annette I have Newfoundlands. currently just one..but i used to breed train and show them. I used to take in many rescued, unwanted, unloved newfs..and i know it can be difficult. My first rescue bit me the first day..so unlike a newf..and we had a very firm discussion. The man that owned and loved him died. His wife was an alcoholic and resented the dog because the man loved him so much. The day the man died she put Mickey outside and never let him in again..no shelter, he got fed only if she remembered, no water..and she would tease him..put down the food and yank it away when he went to eat. So when i went to feed him i heard him growl and he got me good in the arm.
After that day, he never ever ever growled or bit anyone again. Normally if a newf bit like that they would be put down..its not in their character. But i knew his circumstances, and worked hard to get him over it..and he did. He ended up being one of my top studs, finished his championship in four shows, did obedience, and was loved for the rest of his long life.
I'm sure your girl will, with time, get over her fears and learn to play!!!

emoticon I got a rescue that had been running lose in a field in the country. He was scared of every man made noise, but understood every country noise. It took him about 6 months before he excepted common man made noises. He is great on hikes, he knows if that noise in the bush is friend or fo. I've had him 9 years now and he has never liked to play.

Objects in the mirror will get thinner than they now appear

Thank you! "We" appreciate your comment! I am excited about having her, Edgey that is, she knows sit, down and learning stay now. I got her a booster seat for the car, just got it yesterday, and she loves it! I take her to the dog park and we sit in the small area, she is getting familiar with other dogs.

So, what kind of dog(s) do you have?

Hi and welcome!!! I say you DID rescue her the poor little thing. Happy she is in a kind loving home now...its really hard to have little kids and little dogs and the chaos having 3 under 10 creates (been there done that!)
So glad to have you here!

emoticon Will, I am back again, I didn't have internet since October and am very happy I have it now! This is my 3rd time back.
We, my little 7 lb Yorkie, Edgey, and me are new this team. I feel like Edgey is a rescue and I guess she is, kinda, I'll explain. I got her from my daughter and her family, they have 3 kids under 10 yrs old. They had Edgey for 6 years, I think they do better with big dogs. My daughter yelled at her all the time1 When I got her, she was so extremely timid, cowards down at everything, they yelled at her a lot, so she spent a lot of time hiding. She is scared of everything, dogs, people, me opening a drawer in the bathroom. She doesn't seem to know how to play with toys or a ball? Every now and then, she has small moments where she becomes a little playful and than it's like she this isn't normal and she goes back to withdrawal. I must say she is gradually becoming more use to things, I've only had her about a month. So you see, I feel like I rescued her!

I am looking forward to connected with you all!
