emoticon ...I hear you. I could never be without a dog....Our Sarge and Henley picked us out. The other two we got at moments notice. They also have been a great addition to our family.

emoticon Amy and emoticon to the team. You are right to let the dog find you. We have done that with our dogs and they are always a good fit. The one we didn't let choose us was one we couldn't touch but something told us to take her anyway. She is a very tall Chihuahua and had never been outdoors nor socialized. She was afraid of her shadow. Now she is great camper and traveler, loving people and the outdoors. She was a fit for us only she didn't know it right away. In fact, she was recently the mascot for the dog lovers. Her picture was on the team page. We do love her lots as well as the other Chihuahua we rescued that was gotten out of a puppy mill. She definitely picked me, walking right up and laying down on my feet.
Welcome and let us know what chooses you!!

Slow & steady makes a winner of us. Even if we hit pitfalls, get up. Know that a new day is right around the corner.
Try to be all that you can be. Work at it a day at a time.

Hi, welcome, I totally understand where you are coming from. At one point we had two dogs and one elderly dog died and then the pup we adored was hit by a truck totally by accident. For me it was universes colliding. I was devastated and when several dogs entered our lives about a yr. later I was happy beyond belief. I really think dog and cat people are the best. We love so broadly. I used to be such a fussy housekeeper and now I am so tolerant of a mess that I cannot believe I am the same person.

I am new to the team and thought I would introduce myself. I don't have a dog. So, you are probably asking why I'm here. We are going to be adding a dog to our family soon... we are waiting for the right one to pick us!

We used to be very involved in dogs. We had several that shared our home with us... 2 standard poodles, a bulldog, and several Pomeranians. We traind and showed them. We did a little conformation, but mainly because I loved talking to the spectators. I really enjoyed the obedience ring, but my favorite activity was our involvement with Therapy Dog, Inc. We had certified therapy dogs that we took into schools, nursing homes, etc. That was the most rewarding experience EVER!!! Our dogs were our children... we took them everywhere with should have seen our campsite when we went camping. We always attracted people who wanted to come meet the dogs. I loved answering questions and helping to educate people about caring for their dogs. I even gave obedience lessons. (Now, if I could only train my children to behave as well as my dogs did. LOL) I have been honored to meet and get to know many different breeds as well as mixed breeds.

Dogs don't live as long as we want. My oldest Pom was almost 17 when we lost her. A year later, my other Pom passed at the age of 14 due to cancer and another one died from epilepsy at the young age of 8. My beloved standard poodle passed at the age of 16, and our bulldog was out enjoying a beautiful day in the yard with me and just collapsed... she was 12. All of this loss took place within a 2-3 year span and I was left completely heartbroken to say the least!

I have this void... and I really want to get a dog for our family. We went last year to a shelter to look, but nothing "picked us". It was a small shelter. But they had this kitten that my daughter fell in love with... so we came home with her and she is very spoiled. I'm sure she would love a dog. Ha!

We are going to get a dog soo. So, I just wanted to surround myself with other dog owners to get back into it all. You know, it is a FACT that owning a dog makes you healthier! I believe that!

I'm looking forward to meeting you all and hearing about your wonderful dogs!
