Weather is so relative. I went to visit my sister in Texas and the temp was about 65 degrees. I felt like putting shorts on. The Texans all had on coats and scarves.

Not too long after that it was 55 degrees in Oregon and I had to chuckle at a transplant from Alaska who was out working in the yard at my school. She was wearing barn boots, shorts and a tank top. She said she had been too hot ever since she got to Oregon.

As a species we really are pretty adaptable. Have a pleasant walk tomorrow.

How is everyone this evening?

Cathy---Yes,in the dry season our weather is usually about 86-90+F most days, and even in the rainny season the coolest is always in the 80's,and at nights it is about 72-78-80 and if it should drop to 68 in the rainny season at nights ,next morning you'll here almost everyone saying 'last night was really cold'
So that is why I always try to get my daily walk in an hour before sunrise.I usually leave home between 5-5.30AM and by 6-6.30 I'm home, then I water my potted plants, or like now do some weeding , and today I planted 5 celery plants which I got at a bargain at our harvest sale on Sunday last,I usually spend about an hour in the yard, and today I did a thorough cleaning--- sweeping and mopping---of the house so I think I've burned lots of calories today.
Have a pleasant evening.
Roz.

I am glad you did not walk in 91 degree weather. I always worry when I see someone trying to run or walk in the heat. We had a doctor overcome by heat stroke and something else that did some permanent damage during a local marathon. So I am always conscious of the heat.

Winter is hanging on way too long. I walked in 32 degree weather, but a warm parka and mittens make that tolerable. A little brisk weather makes you walk faster too. Usually our climate is wet and mild this time of year.

Enjoy your mild mornings. I love to eat breakfast outside when it is warm enough.

Have a great day.

The most imortant thing Cathy, is that you did get your walking in.Hope your friends are feeling better today.
I've just bought a pedometer so this morning when I went on my usual walk on checking I realise that I've been doing 2 miles or even more on my longer walks.
I must confess that even though I was so excited about doing the walkaton, one of my sisters who does a lot of them, talked me out of doing it,because it is being held at 2pm, and at that time the sun is too hot ,so we'll skip it this time.
Yesterday afternoon at 2.00pm it was 91 degrees,so the possibility exists that it may get that hot again as we are in the dry season.

Hi to Cindi,Dianne, and George and other members.
Have a blessed evening all.
Roz.

Both members of my walking team got sick. So, I took the dogs to a park closer to my house and walked 30 minutes. They both pull. We spent a lot of time working on keeping their heads up, staying by my side and walking, stopping, and sitting. I may not get as much aerobic workout with them, but I sure get an upper body strength training workout.

How did the walkathon go?

Hi Roz,

Way to go on the walkathon. I was just mentioning to my husband I wanted to leave the dogs behind on my walk with my local SP team tomorrow. I want to try to walk the complete lake which is about four miles. I have not made it past two miles with the dogs because they pull so much. Lets check in with each other Sunday night to see how we did.

The keyboard was easy because I took typing lessons in high school in 1969-70. However, my neighbors son was forever helping me with everything else on my first computer. We use them at work, so I have had to keep up.

Between DH and I, we have five children ages 29 to 38. Including step grandchildren we have 12 grandchildren. So between the grandkids and work, my life revolves around children of all ages.

Have a great walk tomorrow.

Cathy,
Many happy returns to your daughter. Our daughters are 33& 29 and they have been into all this technology thing from their teens. They had been trying to get me to become computer literate more than 10 years now, but I was intimidated by it. I used to say that the only computer I can operate is the fast service to get my money, and we did not have a computer at home.
Then only a year ago I signed up for classes,so now I'm sorry that I did not listen to the girls way back then.

You see I have always been writing to penfriends so they kept saying that I would enjoy chatting with so many more people on line and I believe that is what did it for me.I still have so much to learn though.

Guess what? I'm thinking of doing a 5K walkaton next Sunday. Will see how it goes.
Have a good day my dear!
Roz.

Too true about the kids being technologically advanced. Today is my daughters 37th birthday. I have been telling everyone 38. It is a relief that she is 37. The girls are all so savvy with the new digital cameras. They take beautiful pictures. my hands just shake and the lighting is always wrong. The good news is it doesn't stop me from trying.

Cathy,
You would be too exhausted, maybe we could arrange another plan.
I think it is because we have been fiddling with photography since they were babies, now they can teach us a thing or two.
Good for you on that 1/2 lb loss, yesterday I couldn't resist the 2 mangoes and the pack of chocolate chip cookies so today I was much better.
The worst tooth to have is a sweet one! LOL

Have a restful night everyone or an enjoyable day.
Roz.

Hi Roz,
I suppose it is too far for me to drive from Oregon and then swim to Trinidad to talk your daughter into snapping my picture. I have been struggling with the ticker for about three weeks. I think I am back on track and have actually shed another 1/2 pound. Using the nutrition and exercise tracker daily is the only way I can be successful.

Have a great day.

Hi Roz,
Welcome to UMC. Glad you are here. You have a lovely profile picture. Was that a lucky snap shot or was the picture taken professionally?

Welcome, Roz! Glad to meet another United Methodist! We have about the same goal weight in mind -- my progress toward that end has slowed considerably...

Looking forward to getting to know you!
