That sounds like fun! We had talked about NY before, but we are so far away.

This weekend my troop of 8th graders went to Manhattan. We had 14 girls and 4 adults. We drove in 3 vans down from the Boston area to a parking garage on the upper West Side ($57/day each van) and went to the Museum of Natural History. We walked around Central Park then took the subway to Rockefeller Center. We had dinner in Times Square, shopped a little, and returned to the cars by 8:30. We drove about 30 miles north and stayed at the homes of another troop of similar ages to ours. We took the commuter rail in on Sunday for shopping and lunch in Chinatown. I'm not sure what the total cost is yet, but I expect we're around $1500 total. Not bad for 14 girls and 4 adults.

SHANNONINAZ-What kind of events do you do for that age level. I am meeting with the older girls in our Service Unit to throw out ideas for events. I want to get them more active to keep them interested. More fun stuff. They hate earning badges. If we do that we have to make it fun so they don't know they are earning a badge.

Welcome! I'm the leader to 9 CAD/SR girls in AZ. We are gearing up to go to Europe this summer. We've been working for over a year to get there and we are less than $1K away! YIPEE!!

We are hosting a Father/Daughter "Bring Your Own Prince-Night of Enchantment Dance" next weekend. We're excited! Our troop is REALLY active in planning events and we love it.

Welcome! Hope you enjoy our team. You can get lots of ideas. I've been planning events like crazy lately. I need to quit thinking of ideas all the time. Oh well.....Good luck in all your journeys.

Hi Laurie,

Glad to have you. I am not as regular on the board as I'd like to be, but I stop by every chance I get. I have a combined Jr./Cad. troop and we are getting ready to host a Daddy/Daughter dance. This is a great group.

One day at a time . . .

Hi! I'm Laurie. I live in Saskatchewan, Canada. I'm a Girl Guide leader to 3 units--Brownies, Guides, and Pathfinders. It's a busy time right now getting ready for camp and such. I'm excited to get to know you all, get some motivation to stick with this weight loss thing, and pick up some good guiding tips along the way.
Laurie
