I have never been within 10 pounds of my goal in my entire life, but I have heard from others that it is the hardest to lose. Hang in there they will come off ... just keep on keeping on. Just think of the good habits you will be building in your efforts.

Hi Janet! Welcome! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day so be sure to eat it! After dinner, why don't you brush your teeth? Your vodka tonics won't taste sooooo good then!

I understand your pain. I had never dieted and then tried to loose 20 pounds. I didn't know what to eat, so I stopped eating. After 2 weeks I LOST NOTHING! I don't have time for extra exercise after working my physical job. What I have found that has been working for me and enables me to loose 1 to 2 pounds per week is cutting back on the carbs, drinking 4-8 glasses of water a day and I eat small amounts (usually on the run :()often. My favorite breakfast is grapes and string cheese. I can eat this in the car. Morning snack - same thing. Lunch - Double cheese burger from McDonald's WITHOUT THE BREAD, afternoon snack, usually hot spicy peanuts. Supper is a meat and Steamers streamed veggie. I still have room for my favorite food CEREAL before bed, because I have had so little carbs all day. Spark says I should be eatting 120 carbs. a day, but I usually work in 60 to 90. In 2 1/2 months I have lost from 130 to 116. I thought I wanted to go to 110, but I have so much energy and really like the way I look, at this weight. I plan to just keep going like I'm going and see where my body wants to be. Until 5 years ago I always stayed between 98 and 105 - YUCK!!! In old pics. way too thin!!! no curves, YUCK!
On the carbs, it's just cutting down on bread, sweets, corn, potatoes, yellow squash and pasta, for me. I have to watch which fruits I eat. NO canned fruit, no tropical fruit - too high in carbs.
Another treat is alvocado with cottage cheese and cracked black pepper.
By cutting down on my carbs, I have not worried about calories or fat and the weight has come off by itself. I have lost the 4 rolls of fat on my stomach in 2 months WITH NO CRUNCHES...YEAY...

By cutting out the grab and go carbs. I am still able to eat and of them in moderation. I really don't feel like I am on a diet. I don't keep up with all the fats and calories because that Is just too much like work.

I'm here cheering you on!!!! Don't give up. Everday is a new day to get in the mind set that I'm going to do something healthy for myself. My prayers are with you!

emoticon I want to echo what kristi has said. I have been on this roller coaster ride now for almost two years. I started with only 30 pounds to lose. I'm still working on that. I only have about 10 left but it has taken all this time to get here. I love to snack. I eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it is the time in between lunch and supper and then before bed i'm working on.

so you see, your not by any means alone. we are all in this together. Maybe get out and walk in the evenings. The work you do at work your body is used to. Maybe shock it a bit.

Thanks you so much for the reply! your words of encouragement brought tears to my eyes. I rarely eat breakfast or lunch. I may snack on 2-3 bites of something when I take a break. I do try to eat something good for me, but by the time I leave work, I stop at the nearest $1.00 menue for a sandwich. I am good at eating dinner, but my evening Vodka Tonics are way too high in calories. I rarely go over my calorie count and usually go below. I do get tons of physical excersize in my job, but not the kind that targets my yuck spot - core. Thank you so much. You gave me direction and hope.

We all have experienced the frustration of our weight refusing to budge! Never say FAILURE!! That is not an option! It may be taking longer than you want, but failure is giving up and that is not something that I think you want to do. You've come to the right place to help get rid of those extra pounds and I know you can do it! When I first started, I was a meal skipper. I never ate breakfast, then went to work, where I didn't eat all day long either. By the time I got home, even if I didn't eat everything in sight, I opted for what was quick and much of the time unhealthy, just because I was so hungry. No matter what else I did, I could not lose an ounce. I started making myself eat breakfast, even if it was only a piece of fruit or a Fiber One bar, and then I would pack some fruit, a yogurt, some crackers (like Wheat thins, or similar) and maybe a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to take to work. I don't get a chance to sit down and eat in all day, but I found that I could "graze" on what I'd brought during the day. When I got home I wasn't starving, and with some proper meal planning I'd have something healthy ready to start for dinner. I finally started losing. SLOWLY, but I started losing BECAUSE I was eating. I started drinking lots of water and watching my food intake and making sure I was eating during the day..exercise..well, I'm still working on that one..seems I get going good for a while and then slack off again. I'm not losing as fast as I would like, but I still like to see that I'm losing, and NOT GAINING!!
Once you start thinking that eating well and taking care of yourself is a way of life, and not a quick fix to losing weight, it will start to fall into place..and the stress will evaporate and above all, the feeling that just because you aren't losing 5 pounds a week that you are failing!! Don't give up..you can do this!! Okay, I've been long winded enough...I wish you much luck and hope that you find this site and all it has to offer helpful to you in reacing your goals!!
Kristi

Hi. My name is Janet. I live in Titus (Lake Jordan). I want to loose 10 pounds. I have been trying for 1 month. I have watched my food and get plenty of exercise through my work, but can't loose weight. What's up with that? I do work long and hard and have a hard time eating as often as Spark recommends. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am ready to just say forget it and eliminate the stress and feelings of FAILURE.
