Hi Everyone, I am back to Sparkpeople again...I have been up and down with my weight my entire life, and now I am working on about 30 lbs again. I am in my 2nd marriage of 17 years, I have an adult daughter and step daughter; grandson, and a 16 year old still at home. Unfortunately she is following in my weight problem footsteps. Need to deal with all the drama of life in a non-food way!!

Good morning all team members!
My names is rskmom, and I joined about 6 weeks ago. Time to introduce myself!
I am 45 and work outside the home. I have three boys (13, 11 and 11 - yes, twins!) and a wonderful dh.
I started this journey seriously because I had three nosebleeds in four days and wound up in the ER during the middle of night with one that would not stop. My bp was screaming high. The nurse was super, the ER doc a jerk. He saw me for about literally 30 seconds and told me that I was lucky my body decided to bleed out via my nose and not my brain, as that would have been a stroke. He was very brusque.

I thank him for that. My mother had a stroke 13 years ago, the day before my oldest son was born. She didn't live to see my twins born three years later.

My regular doc put me on bp meds that caused my feet to swell. He took me off it. I decided then and there that I was a) too young to be on meds forever and b) a mom to young enough kids that I HAD to get my act together.

I had heard about SP through a friend and starting using it initially to track my calories. Then I started tracking my work outs.

I am now down 22 pounds!!!

My goals are 1250-1300 calories per day and working out every other day.

Hi, everyone!

My name is Debbie and I am a returning member. In the past I lost about 35 lbs but like others, it found me again.

Now I am watching my in-laws go through health problems relating to obesity and I have been told that my cholesterol is high and my triglycerides are VERY high, so I was referred to a diet doctor here in Canada and put on Dr. Poon's Metabolic diet.

Hubby is borderline high blood pressure and pre-diabetic, so he was also referred and we are doing this together.

So, that's my story, glad to be a part of this group and looking forward to making friends :)

Hi everyone -- new here but not new to the fitness/weight loss struggle (Sigh ... LOL). My name is Lisa, I'm 41, mother of a daughter (9) and step mom to a daughter (12) and son (almost 9).

Four years ago I lost 30 pounds ... and I seem to have found them again. I used to work out really hard for an hour + a day but working full-time outside the home and managing a family has left me with not a lot of time and I've slipped back into some awful eating (and drinking!) habits and despite the fact that I've never stopped exercising completely, it hasn't been enough to keep the weight from creeping back. I'm tall so I can carry the weight ... but I'd rather try to get back into a size 10 or 12 (not seen since my 20's!) as opposed to the size 16 I'm currently sporting.

Today is Day 5 of Level 1 of Jillian Michaels' 30-Day Shred and this time I'm combining it with a 1550 calorie eating plan. I'm still finding it kind of tough, but otherwise I'm feeling pretty good. I'm going to weigh and measure on Sunday, so I'll be sure to report my findings.

Take your time exploring SP. There is sooooo much information on here for you to use and there are some pretty cool tools too.

Clara - to answer your question. You only want to enter that once. It would count it twice if you entered it in both places. As far as the other, I am not sure about that one.

Hello, everyone.

I'm a 42-year-old married mom, embracing my forties and motivated to making this the best decade of my life (until I enter my fabulous fifties, that is!). emoticon

I just joined SP last week, and am still exploring and familiarizing myself. I love the site, but admit to feeling a bit disoriented as I try to learn the ropes. Do I enter my walking and rebounding totals in both the mileage and cardio trackers, or does doing so count the same exercise twice? (I only want credit for what I've legitimately earned.) Why do some team goals post/update automatically, while others don't? Why do some streaks not reflect the correct number of days? I'm hoping to find answers to these questions as I settle in at SP.

I am happy to be here, and wish everyone success in their fitness goals. emoticon

Lionbarb - welcome to the team and welcome to SP! Baby steps is the best way to do it at first. SP is a great site but there are so many tools and so much information that it can be a bit overwhelming at first. Please feel to ask any questions about the site, about the team or just about anything!

As far as your profile pic you will first have to find something that you like. Might I suggest if you don't want your own pictures, to go to google images and so an image search. Once you find an image that you like right click on it and click on "save picture as" name and that will save it to your computer. Then go to your spark page and click on "edit my spark page" then click on "edit my photo gallery" you will see a button to upload pictures. Click on that, then click on browse and that will take you to your pictures on your computer. click on the picture you want then click on upload and that will put the picture in your gallery. From there you can click underneath the picture to set it as your porfile picture.

I like how you call it a 'disaster'. Perfect definition for me, that is for sure!

I strongly suggest joining our monthly challenges. We usually have teams and motivate each other to 'beat' the other team and have tons of fun doing it. Personally, it's the best motivation I've found for staying on track. Keep an eye out for March's challenge.

Hi all. I joined Spark a couple of years back, lost some weight, lost the spark, put the weight back on (and then some).
I'm back with the 40+ awareness that my kids aren't the only important part of my life... I've always said it's important to take care of yourself, too, but I don't think I ever fully believed it. I'm now realizing that one day my kids will move on and not be dependent on me. If I don't start thinking of myself now, I think I will be feeling very empty when that day comes.
What an introduction! Other than that, I'm from BC, Canada and am loving spring in February!

Hi, I would like to join your team! I am 47 and have been struggling with my weight for years. I haven't been having much success so far...the weight just doesn't seem to be budging! This group looks great and I want in! I am 41, married 18 yrs, three great kids, and a full time high school teacher. 2010 is my year to get it right. Looking forward to some fabulous fun!!

Hi, I'm Karen, I'm 46, married 25 years to a wonderful man, mother of a 22-year old son and 20 year old daughter. I've been overweight most of my life, but always felt pretty fabulous anyway! Now, realizing for health and longevity its time to be more serious about exercising and eating better!

Janeytee sorry it took me so long to get back and answer your question about the HCG diet.
The HCG diet is a weight loss cure. Following the protocol written by Dr. Simmeons in the 1970's called Pounds & Inches. It is available free all over the web, and there is an HCG weight loss team here on SP which the link to is on my page, as well as the link over the My Program section on my Spark Page for the yahoo group HCGDieters.com which is a great place to lurk and read posts and files and get all the info you need on what to do.

That yahoo group will send you the manuscript when you join, make sure you set your email settings to receive the digests and not every single post or you will get tons and tons of emails, lol. They also have it in their files section if you don't want them to send you any email at all. Lots of helpful info, many people post their stories and results and before and after pics. Great place to start.
That said The manuscript is quite long (and I believe it will change your life), here are a few of the highlights...

I am a believer! I tell everyone I know so they can benefit from it as well. My doctor has no problem with it and he keeps track of my thyroid and med dose closely as I am hypothyroid.
