Hilariously my doorperson was out sick yesterday- candy is still on my table untouched. I still completely forgot all about it. I don't like my drinks with sweetener- so that's a lucky break. I am a snacker and can mindlessly eat, so being aware and present is key for me.
Congrats on meeting your fitness goals and inspiring the rest of us.

Welcome back! Regifting those holiday treats was a great idea. I try to give away extra treats when they are around during the holidays, too. Otherwise, they are hard to resist. If you find yourself adding a lot of sugar to teas/coffee/food, I recommend looking into a sugar substitute. Personally, I like using stevia-based alternatives like Truvia, it's very sweet and has no calories. I also tend to crave less sugar stuff when I avoid sweets altogether, but that is easier said than done. So, I usually just stick with the substitutes. Again, welcome back to SparkPeople! Be sure to ask for help, support and encouragement when you need it!

Thanks, preplanning really is everything.

My boyfriend brought me a bag of candy in a cute holiday bag last night. Still sitting on my table- unopened. Yay! I relish the little victories. I plan to gift it to our evening doorperson this afternoon.

Thanks for the reply.

Have a great day

Patti

Way to get the ball rolling! Not sure I have any good advice to give you about sugar - except preplanning your snacks and meals and hopefully that will help you avoid cravings and grabbing something sweet when you are hungry.

Hi everyone!

I was very active on Spark in 2006 but divorce, an empty nest and a year in Saudi Arabia put a damper on my weight loss efforts.

I had a knee replacement in September 2012 but am ready to pick up my enthusiasm and get the ball rolling again. I feel good and my knee and I are getting acquainted with each other.

My biggest issue is sugar- the white death has had a pretty good grip on me since childhood.

Any suggestions, helpful hints or even a hello are welcome.

Stay warm!

Patti
