Day5 and energy to burn

Good to hear from you again. Snowing here since last night(Friday) and we have a good 10 cm down by now(7pm).
I have a dog and cat. Chloe(dog) and Brooke(cat) are about the same size and they like to wrestle. Chloe tries to be the bigger of the two but the cat, Brooke can hold her own. Very funny to watch the cat chasing the dog. Wish we still had our black lab, she was a good dog for walking,our little one isn't. I can take her out but not too far.
Sorry to hear you hurt your back,hope it feels better soon. Just heard the weather report and it doesn't sound good for the rest of the weekend. I'm suppose to fill in at work tomorrow and I might not make it in either tomorrow or Monday if we are to go by the weather report. Take care and hope your feeling better. Talk to you again soon. Hi Charlene, it's snowing a bit here today, only have a inch so far. The roads are supposed to be messy tonight and dh was supposed to come home today. The roads are messy so they are staying in Halifax again for the night, so his mother is very happy. I miss my dog, Dave is a good mutt and the house is very quiet without him around. I have two cats, Ed and Cassie, and they are just starting to play with each other. I got Cassie for Christmas from my son and she's a funny energetic cat. She's a sock stealer. She'll find them in the hamper or under the bed or the floor and carry them out to us meowing all the time. She's even taken face cloths out of the bathroom and carried it out to the rug for me to find. Ed was pretty miffed when we brought her home but he misses our other cat who was mauled back in October and we had to put her down. Today they were playing in a box we made into a tunnel with holes and doors in each end. They chased each other in and out and on it too. It's fun to watch them. Ed goes outside quite a bit but beats on the kitchen window when he wants in. You can't mistake him cause he's a strong big male and when he knocks you listen! Well, I better get going, I'm really pooped today, I took down all the Christmas decorations yesterday and then cleaned everything. I kind of hurt my back a little lifting a box filled with ornaments but laid on the heating pad for a while this morning and it feels better. Ed is banging at the window so I best go let him in. Thanks Sandra for your note and it seems we are in the same boat. I know what you mean about not fitting in. Here they have a phrase for people like me ' You're from away'. Regardless I do have a step-sister and step-brother living here on the island but I don't get to see them much. I think I saw more of them when we used to come over to visit our families ( my husband is from PEI). I'm from Nova Scotia myself. So have fun today and keep moving. My day off, so I have alot of running around to do before the snow comes. They say we could get some dirty weather over the next couple of days, hope not cause it makes getting to work a B_tch. Hi Charlene, welcome to a great group, we sure are a supportive bunch. It's nice to have someone to share ideas with and get and give support to friends. I have two sons that are almost 21 and 25, the youngest still lives with us and hopefully will be going to trade school in Sept. I was to PEI once when I was ten and will be coming over in July for my stepsons wedding in July. I know what you mean about the loneliness and isolation you feel being a hour away from everything. I live in a little Village but it's a hour from everything. We do have a small store but it's expensive so we don't shop there much. We moved here in 1994 and only had one car...I went nuts! Without a second car I felt trapped and just wanted out. I've had my own car since then so it's better but with the price of gas I still don't get out much. I also don't really fit in here. there are a lot of cliques and I feel like I don't fit in in most of the circles. I had a job ten minutes away for a while and met a lot of people but still no one friendly enough to invite over for tea. I don't know what is wrong with people these days that they just aren't that friendly to outsiders. Oh well, I've met a lot of nice people on Sparks. Keep coming on cause it's so nice and good for you to chat with someone every day. Anyway, got to run, I'm taking down all the Christmas stuff and cleaning up the house while my hubby is in Halifax with my dog visiting his mother....I don't go cause her smoking bothers me too much. It's nice to get all the cleaning done without them in the way. So I'm off to dust and vacuum some more. Have a great day 6 and keep on moving! Sandra

Hi my name is Charlene and this is day 5 for me. I'm 54, married for twenty years with two grown children. I live on beautiful Prince Edward Island. I joined Sparkpeople cause I wanted to feel good about myself again. My husband has decided we need to take a much needed vacation in March. We've never been outside the Maritimes our whole time together, so this will be a new experience for us. Right now I don't feel comfortable in my own skin. You see, we moved to PEI 13 years ago and live in the country which means you have to drive everywhere. My last home I could walk around town in any weather but here it's not safe to do that (no street lights or sidewalks, etc.) So I became isolated and started to put some weight on. I 've tried joing groups to meet people but I just didn't fit in. I work with the public so you're on display all the time. My co-workers and customers seem to be losing weight and I can't. So I decided to try something new (cause I don't like to travel in the winter and to get to any weight lost meetings it means at least a half hour drive one way and it costs money ) so Thank God for Google for it brought this site up. I've been on the program 5 days now and I have energry to burn. Just returned home from the local community centre where I spent an hour doing Zumba and anybody who has tried this knows you get a real workout. Any way that me in a nut shell. Glad to be part of this group.
