Hi - welcome aboard :-)

First of all, have you been referred to a Registered Dietitian given you are Diabetic? If not, I would ask your Dr for a referral to one.

If you aren't already, weigh all of your food for increased accuracy and enter everything into the Nutrition Tracker. This will help you tweak as and when needed.

IF you go to a Registered Dietitian, take some printouts from your Nutrition Tracker. This saves a LOT of time and provides so much more accurate information than trying to rely on memory.

I don't follow low-carbs for me, however given you want to focus on low carb, I will suggest something that I do look out for low-carb potatoes. Mine are 40% reduced carb, and they are also lower calorie. That is why I eat them, because it allows me to eat more fruit and veggies, which I LOVE :-)

Good luck for your upcoming surgery.

Take care,
Kris

I am new here, having an ALIF procedure with pedicle screws in back on June 8th and I am a nervous wreck about it... but I am hopeful this will help me in the long run. I am someone who is usually very active but since January I have been sidelined more and more with back issues. I have spondylolisthesis with anterior slip, DDD, and basically no disk between L5-S1... and now have severe foraminal stenosis which has nerves trapped. So hopefully them going in and trying to get things back in order will allow me to become more active again... fingers and toes crossed for sure on it.

I am type 2 diabetic and trying to eat lower carb/sugar to keep my sugar in check.... trying to buckle down and log my food better and really focus on my health as I need this to not be an issue with my healing process for sure.

I welcome new friends and advise as I go through one of the hardest physical things I have ever been through. :)
