Most of the support here on Spark is dedicated to improving health, weight loss being part of the process. Few of the articles are about vanity, we are mostly just trying to get healthy from any of a myriad of starting points. Explore the site! You will find many who are just like you, and getting healthier. You can do it, too!

I rejoined Sparkpeople a month ago, but have been embarrassed to say anything in here. I've come so many times seriously meaning to stick around then I let my Illnesses get in the way. I'm back and taking baby steps, but to not say anything seems silly so here's my story...

I lost count of the number of times I've been here over the years and left due to serious health problems. I know I need Spark and all it has to offer to help me in the healing process and think I"m in a better position to stick around this time. So, if you're still reading, let me tell you a little of my story.

My nickname is Sunny and the first time I joined Sparkpeople I needed to lose 60 pounds, but I kept having chronic bronchitis. The Dr. diagnosed me with Sarcoidosis in my lungs and placed me on prednisone which caused my diabetes (type 2) to go out of control. Over the years I have gained weight, come off prednisone, gone into remission, lost to my goal weight, come out of remission, back on prednisone, gained weight, back into remission..just a continuous and vicious cycle. I've been in the hospital for several weeks trying a new treatment as well as prednisone. Now I'm home and in remission again. I'm also 70 pounds overweight and all of this has me depressed. At the moment, I have 50% breathing capacity and the Sarcoid has also moved to other areas of my body.

Now, the (hopefully) good news. The Dr says with this treatment and sticking to a program that teaches me to change my lifestyle I could stay in remission longer and would help me live a higher quality of life. I mentioned Spark to him and he agreed it's an excellent place to help me. I am embarrassed to come back again, but if I don't do this I will be letting myself down.
