Welcome! I'm relatively new here too - and also carry most of my weight in my thighs, so I know what you mean. I generally lose inches when I get on my "running kicks" every other year or so.

I don't know if it's an option for you, but have you ever spoken to a personal trainer? I've had a few throughout the years and always find it helpful; may be worth looking into if you want to target your problem areas while paying attention to your medical needs.

Also, do you ever track the calories you take in? I find it a must in losing weight...I always consider myself a pretty healthy person too, until I actually plug in the food I'm eating and realize it's way more than I thought. I'm actually following a 1,500 cal/day meal plan I got from the Kaiser "Healthy Weight" 10-week class I recently completed, and I can post it on here for others to look at. It really helps point you in the right direction as far as varying your meals and eating the right portions, but it's nice because it's "real" food options so it doesn't feel like a diet.

:) Becky

I am very new to SparkPeople. I just read about it in one of the many magazines I look through while sitting in doctor offices. I am a 42 year old mother of 2; my son is 18 and a freshman in college and my daughter is 16 and a junior in high school. I consider myself to be active and am health. I just need to lose weight in my thighs and hips if that is possible. I am ill-proportioned. It makes me uncomfortable in public at times because I get stared at a lot. It upsets my husband and my kids when this happens. And now, I have osteoarthritis in my knees and probably my hips because of the weight so I need to lose the weight and tone up in my lower half. I heard this site is very supportive and assists in accomplishing one's goals in doing this. I am excited to be here.
