I have several friends & neighbors that also race super modifieds as well as sprint cars, so I've seen my fair share of "odd" accidents on the local dirt tracks!

thanks to all that posted the updates, it is so scary to see those types of accidents. Hubby and friends own 360 super modified and race at local race track, last year, several odd accidents last year, leaving one in the hospital for months. our prayers with all families involved.

Sonja thanks for that update. Shame that Pearson did sustain that many injuries. But glad he is alert and okay. Sending prayers his way for a speedy recovery

Here is the comment from Nascar's article about the wreck:

Punch said the brothers described Larry Pearson as "awake and alert." Later in the evening, family members reported that Pearson remained awake and alert at Bristol Regional Medical Center and said that Pearson suffered a compound fracture to his left ankle and will undergo surgery Saturday night to repair the injury. Family members also said that Pearson has a fractured pelvis and a fractured right hand.

They said the legends race was televised but I could not find it. Just hope those involved in that wreck are okay. I did enjoy the ending of the nationwide race. Great that Algier won.

I watched both races...

That wreck was very scary... I sure hope that Pearson is okay! Even the guy that hit him was knocked unconscious!

There was a scary incident in the legends race. On lap 30 Larry Pearson was t-boned in turn 1 and was airlifted out. He lost consciousness but was awake when they cut him out of the car.
The Nationwaide race was exciting the last 12 laps as Justin Algier held back team mate Krashlowski to become a first time winner.

Now that legends race sounds very special. Lucky you. I have met Cal many many years ago. My husband used to race on the dirt tracks in Hialeah, Fl when he was young.wow that is a long time ago. glad he gave racing up I could not take it being a wife of a racer.

Yes, attending both races and there is a "legends' race after the Nationwide. " as some of Bristol's greatest like Cale Yarborough, David Pearson, Harry Gant, Charlie Glotzbach and more square off in a 35-lap dash among heroes."
They will be racing in the same style and type cars that they raced in back in the day

Would be awesome if a few would help about those tickets. That would be a very nice gesture. Have fun and enjoy the races. Will you go to both nationwide and sprint cup?
Hoping for safe races and exciting finishes. Someone new winning would be awesome

After watching practice and qualifying this afternoon I think the addition of SAFER barrier to turns 2 & 4 will have a minor effect except when they are running 2 - 3 wide in the corners. Most are going to run the bottom 2 grooves but we know from Bristol's past that not everyone can remain patient.

Krashlowski was widely booed, reaction to Carl coming out for qualifying was mixed. Shrub still gets booed everywhere.

Campgrounds are less than half full which is not a good sign. The lady that runs the one we are parked in said she contacted anyone who has stayed here before and they all said they couldn't afford the race this year. Sign that the economy has effected this race too. There are many tickets for sale.
It looks like the consecutive sellout streak may be over unless Bruton does what he did last August (he purchased all remaining tickets and donated them). Not sure he can afford to do that this time around.
Look for Mark to do well.
