Maintenance Lessons Learned:
-go on with the healthy lifestyle learned in weight loss phase
-just add healthy foods gradually to stop losing
-work out every day - 30-60 minutes is enough to maintain weight and good mood
-do not try to balance overeating by extreme workouts, it is not going to work
-avoid overeating, instead of satisfaction you get stronger cravings

Hey Carol!!
I'm so excited to see your friendly face here! This program is nothing short of amazing for me. I can't remember ever having this kind of resolve. Today, my 16th day of dieting using the Beck principles, was a real test. The whole family went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. This is my first meal out in this time period. I did a lot of self-talk and looked for sabotaging thoughts. I preplanned what I was going to eat. I got the eggs in a basket, substituted the fruit cup for the hash brown casserole, and gave the bacon to my grandson. I also drank water so I could avoid the creamer. !! Success !! 358 calories.

This works . . . but it is work. As it goes along it is less time consuming. But this being my second time around, I've found that putting in the time up front . . . reading the lessons, practicing them and preplanning food is well worth it.

Hi my name is Carol. I am new to Beck and am on Day 3. I decided to try it because of Jane. We are teammates in another group and she was having such success I thought I should look into it. I have been watching my weight all of my adult life and have been overweight for most of that time. I just want change my thinking and move on.

I'm new to this as well. I'm on Day 17. You can read a little bit about me below. This is my second shot at Beck and it is going so well I think I'm dreaming. The first time didn't work so well because of "user error"!

I'm into my second week of dieting with the principles at hand. It is different than any other time I've dieted.

Repetition and repeated passes at things is what practice is about. Hope you find that with another look at Beck and giving her suggestions a try, you'll discover some things that support your goals.

For me, the heart of cognitive behavioral therapy is becoming aware of sabotaging thoughts and learning how to refute them. This practice really does change our thinking.

I'm Jane and I've been a member of SparkPeople for a long time, maybe ten years. I have been active for years at a time and inactive for years at a time, but I always come back. After ten years, I'm only ten pounds less than when I first joined up. I've had such great friends and support with my Polk County (Florida) Team and my team member, Slenderella61, has encouraged me to try the Beck Solution. I started up last year and fizzled out. I'm back again, hoping that I can see it through this time!

I am 69 years old, married to Bob with three children and two grands. Two children live in Lakeland Florida where I reside and one son is in Ft. Collins Colorado. I am retired . . . though it sure doesn't feel like it! My 35 y.o. daughter lives with us and I care for her two children, my only grands: Jordan, 8 and Audrey 9 months. I like to read for fun. Bob still works full time but hopefully only for another year or two. (I'm a cougar!)
