Sun, 17 Dec 2017 09:37:38 EST New to they Team and just saying Hi Hi everyone, just thought I'd introduce myself
As you can tell by my name I'm a huge DC fan although I love anything comic related. I Cosplay semi-professionally and need to get into shape for costumes. Everyone was convinced I must've had it custom made, and I'm like, nope! There's a company that does stuff this awesome!

<img src=" Fri, 17 Mar 2017 10:56:53 EST Favorite Superhero I really enjoyed the last random question I asked, so I thought I would do another one...

Do you have a favorite Superhero?

My daughter had someone named Zero the Hero visit her class yesterday for the 100th day of school. We are not really superhero people, so last night at dinner she asked who all of our favorite superheroes were. This film came up during dinner last night, as did many of our other "space themed" favorites - The Martian, Interstellar, Star Trek, Star Wars, etc. It was fun listening to my family dream about what it will look like when the human race begins exploring and colonizing space. It also seemed like a topic of conversation that might be enjoyed by my fellow Geeks and Nerds. =)

... Sat, 11 Feb 2017 08:53:06 EST New to the team Hi everyone! I am new to the team and SparkPeople... although I did have an account back in 2008. For the last several years I have been trying to get healthier, but have not had much success. I am taking a different approach to it this time by trying to incorporate some of my nerdy-obsessions and create quests for myself. I guess we'll see how that works, but I am looking forward to creating friendships while using SparkPeople's tools to finally get myself in order. Mon, 30 Jan 2017 15:35:23 EST Hi Y'all! (I'm guessing you have...) Thoughts? Feels? Theories? Mon, 16 May 2016 11:17:11 EST Hi there I'm looking for a group that shares my interests and this looks like it. I'm a comic book nerd (DC more than Marvel), Neil Gaiman fan, fantasy lover and a gamer (my husband and I met playing AD&D). I've done Spark for a year and lost a quarter of the weight I need to lose. Hoping to continue my journey here. Sun, 8 May 2016 10:47:45 EST Hi everyone Just found your team and I hope I'll fit right in. :) I geek out about a lot of stuff, some may say too much, but pfft on them!

--The Whedonverse will always be my first love.
--I like the shows and movies that have spawned from comics but I don't really read the comics themselves, I just prefer other methods of storytelling. Fri, 15 Apr 2016 12:14:57 EST Empire, not Rebellion Hi! I'm a 30-something nerd girl, with a wide variety of nerdy interests.

Gaming - I prefer JRPGs, though I got my start on MUDs back in the day. I spend most of my gaming time on FFXIV, anymore, and yes, I'm the cliche female white mage. I used to feel bad about it, but not anymore. I love D&D and pencil-and-paper role-playing games, though I haven't gotten to really enjoy them since my regular DM moved away. I live in a small town, and finding a good group isn't easy. I also... Sat, 23 Jan 2016 16:01:33 EST The Force Awakens Anyone seen it yet? I saw it opening weekend and loved it. Not without it's issues, but I loved it. Fri, 1 Jan 2016 07:22:11 EST Hello, everybody. I'm a 41 year old man from Minnesota. Happily married with two adult step-daughters and three young children; a 9 year old son and two daughters that are 7 and 5.

I am of course into sci-fi and fantasy as well as horror. I love to read, watch movies and television shows mainly in those genres. As you can imagine, I love Game of Thrones, the Walking Dead, the Lord of the Rings, etc., etc. When I'm on the treadmill I watch Dark Shadows. When I'm at my son's tae kwon do class I'm rea... I love TV and movies about superheroes, scifi, horror, and fantasy. I'm actually sad that at 44 I no longer have a D&D group to play with. I'm hoping that's enough greek cred.

I'm pretty much an open book but I'm really bad at intros - I have no idea what anyone would be interested in about me. So if you want to know - just ask me.

I try hard to have fun within healthy boundaries. I was down to ... Wed, 12 Aug 2015 19:17:20 EST I haven't posted much lately However, things are going well.

I am having gastric sleeve weight loss surgery on 8/12, so I have been doing all the things to get ready for that. I did well on the pre-op diet, so I am looking forward to continued success! It is all very time consuming though, what with managing my food, diet, and exercise. I haven't even had time to play much World of Warcraft! /gasp

I'll be off from work for six weeks after surgery so hopefully I can be more active during that time. Sat, 8 Aug 2015 19:06:40 EST Greetings to all My name is Shanna. I'm 29 and I've had enough of being overweight. I like supernatural fiction, sci-fi and fantasy. I'm a fan of star trek, star wars, lord of the rings, and Harry Potter. I plan to go to a convention and cosplay as a reward for reaching my ideal, healthy weight.

Live long and prosper Sat, 11 Jul 2015 03:37:14 EST What are you proud of? So, I've been busy working on getting ready to have weight loss surgery. The most important thing to me about weight loss is not the numbers on the scale or on the tag in my clothing. It's all about what I can do and how I feel - what some call 'non-scale victories".

I'm really happy that I feel better since I am eating better. I'm really happy that my skin looks a heck of a lot better since I don't drink sweet drinks or caffeine. I'm happy that I can move better because I weigh l... For me it's Orphan Black, which I just discovered this week!! My friends have been recommending it for ages and now I finally understand! My husband and I binge watched the first season last week, and this week we're spending our date night watching a bunch of season 2.

I'm also super excited about Sense8, the new Netflix series by the Wachowskis (who did The Matrix, among other things). That'll surely be our next show.

Are you geeking out about anything in TV, movies,... Mon, 8 Jun 2015 14:40:37 EST Hello! Greetings, everyone! My name is Tonya and I currently reside in VA. This is my second attempt at being an active member of this site, and hopefully I'll have a little more success this time!

There were a couple of teams that were automatically picked for me when I signed up, but I've always felt more at home when I'm surrounded by my fellow geeks and nerds, so I thought this team would be a great first choice. :)

I'm a big fan of just about anything related to sci-fi a... Mon, 1 Jun 2015 23:08:49 EST Back from the Con I am back and in recovery from ConCarolinas this weekend. I did alllll the geeky things, but had particular fun with filking with my friends. Any other filkers around here?

I did fairly well with healthy eating for the weekend, but I sure saw A LOT of unhealthy eating! The majority of folks at the Con were overweight and many had disabilities related to obesity. It made me think about why geeky folks tend to be over weight. We tend to be too sedentary for one thing.

On ... Mon, 1 Jun 2015 18:06:46 EST Bonjour (Shh...I don't speak French) Hello, I’m ZJ. I have been using Sparkpeople for months now, but I never really noticed the community stuff because…grad school. Well, I got sick this weekend and started looking around the site a bit more to earn points. Points motivate me. It’s like I’m playing the Sims but the Sim I’m playing is…me. Anyway, I joined some teams that looked interesting and joined goals based on what I was already doing. Hopefully I am using the site correctly, but if not, I’m cool with it.

Let’s ... My son tells me I'm just like a female version of Sheldon (Big Bang Theory), but I don't see it.

Not into Dr. Who - but totally into super-heroes. Eager to see the new Super-Girl show this summer on network TV as the previews remind me of Smallville.

Am a die-hard Supernatural fan (for all ten seasons) and can hardly stand the wait for next season. Orphan Black is another favorite - and I... Thu, 21 May 2015 19:08:54 EST um...hello Hello all, I'm new, or at least new-ish.
Starting over on Sparkpeople after an absence of several years, starting that long climb up to get back on track after losing a lot of progress I'd made.
Finding community always seems like a huge challenge to me because I've got that chip on my shoulder that I don't fit in anywhere but then I have to remind myself that's just my defensive BS excuse for not wanting to put in the effort. So I'm looking around for "my" people and relieved to f... Sun, 17 May 2015 13:22:11 EST Hi all! Hi everyone!

My name is Alice and I'm new to Sparkpeople. I am glad to have found my people.
I am Kira - gaming geek, book geek, cosplay geek. movie geek, filk geek, and so on. So much geekery, so little time! I am a member of a geek meetup group in my area - we actually leave the home and socialize. I know, shocking isn't it?
I am working on becoming more fit and (hopefully) having gastric sleeve surgery in late summer (after the Con session, before the Ren Faire season).
I game online in World of Warcraft (primarily). I run an ver... Fri, 8 May 2015 11:00:05 EST Motivations from Pop Culture/ eek-outs I love finding motivation from my games and shows.

One huge one for me was from Walking Dead. After being thrown from a horse down into a ravine, attacked by Walkers, and with a crossbow bolt through his side, as he's dragging himself back up out of the ravine, Daryl Dixon pushes himself on by telling himself, "c'mon now, ya done half. Stop being such a p****"

video clip:

CHWIi7c

I cracked up, but use t... Tue, 5 May 2015 03:17:27 EST What are you reading? I read a lot of urban fantasy and paranormal books. I just finished the second book in Deborah Harkness' All Souls trilogy, "Shadow of Night", which was *fantastic*! I just moved on to the second Dresden Files book "Fool Moon". Jim Butcher's Codex Alera series is my favorite fantasy series that I've read and I'm *finally* getting around to Dresden. So far I'm liking this one more than the first Dresden book, which is following with what friends have said, that it keeps getting better. I'm exc... Sun, 3 May 2015 20:34:34 EST Greetings! Hello everyone! I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Anthony and at the current moment, my stats are 194 lbs/5'7. I'm an avid Runescape player (because avid is a better word than addict =p), enjoy anime, and at the same time am aiming to build a better body. Starting at 240 lbs I've made progress, but am still looking for more friends to continue this better body journey haha. Thu, 30 Apr 2015 18:26:23 EST Getting Back on Track Hey everyone! I've been a member of SP for almost 6 years now. When I first started out, I had the time, energy, and motivation to lose 50lbs. I managed to maintain for about a year also. Then I was faced with losing my job and I decided to go back to graduate school.

4 years and 2 Master's degrees later, the weight crept back on and I'm 2 pounds heavier than my previous all time high. I know what to do though, and when I graduate in 3 weeks, I'll have the time to commit to i... Tue, 21 Apr 2015 13:29:29 EST Hello there! Live in South Dakota! Mon, 13 Apr 2015 08:05:30 EST Geek spark buddy Hey all,

Long time Spark user here never really committed to losing the weight. For some reason I just have it in my head that I can't do it alone and I've always been doing it alone. In the past when I've found a SparkBuddy we've talked a lot the first couple of weeks and then communication falls off to just check ups on working out. I greatly believe that was because we didn't have much in common.

I'm a 30 yr geekette with 100 lbs to lose. I love most things geeky. If ... I know it's kind of cheesy, but I believe that having somebody to be accountable to can really be a great motivator to reach your goals. I'm looking for somebody who wants to set a quantitative goal (whether nutrition, fitness or weight loss) by a preset date. We would message each other about challenges as wanted, but minimum once a week to report progress towards goals.

I'... Thu, 6 Nov 2014 20:14:11 EST Hi! Nice to meet you. Mon, 22 Sep 2014 00:44:14 EST Game of Thrones I love to read as does my family, but I have been utterly confounded in my attempts to convince anyone in my family to read the Game of Thrones books. This has left me with all sorts of lovely theories that I am just itching to discuss/propose/have debunked, but no one with whom to discuss them. Anyone game? I've watched the first three (not four) seasons of the HBO version on DVD, and would be willing to *try* to be unspoilerific. At least a little. :) Wed, 10 Sep 2014 15:41:54 EST 1337 n00b pwnd lulz Hello!

I'm Rusty, I'm a fatty, and I'm a geek. Tue, 1 Apr 2014 12:11:44 EST Hello I'm pretty giant geek, mostly BBC shows like Doctor Who and Torchwood (Big John Barrowman fan), and then also things like Star Trek and Firefly. Scifi, I think is what we're going to go with here. But I always enjoy meeting other geeky peoples and I hoping this will help me with losing the weight I've gained sitting on my couch. Mon, 24 Mar 2014 01:06:35 EST Greetings from a Green Haired Geek Hi-Hi fellow geeks. My name is Chrissy. I joined SparkPeople ages ago ... when I was in my 20's and had only had two children. Thu, 5 Dec 2013 09:52:24 EST weightloss from FanExpo Hey, just thought I'd share that I attended FanExpo in Toronto over the weekend, all four days thurs-sun. I managed to not only resist the junk food there (mostly pizza and hotdogs) by bringing my own snacks of nuts and fruit-bars, but also got a ridiculous amount of walking done. And in doing so I apparently lost 4 pounds over the weekend which turned a hugely fun weekend (and a potentially very unhealthy weekend if I was eating the food there) into a hugely productive one as well! Tue, 27 Aug 2013 11:51:11 EST hello :) I joined sparkpeople at the beginning of 2013, but then more or less sort of fell out of it. But I am happy to get back, and excited to be a part of this sparkteam!!! Now, if only a was a thiner geek ;P Mon, 6 Aug 2007 15:10:55 EST Geek from Virginia Tech Hey everyone! I'm new to the Geeks and Nerds group, and proud to join it! Tue, 10 Jul 2007 15:01:44 EST Happy 4th of July! It's Independence Day! I celebrated in true geek form, by going to see Transformers with my fiance. I highly recommend anyone with an inkling of geek in them to watch that movie. The robots are impressive and awe-inspiring beyond words.

The movie successfully captures the wonder of the unknown, the realization that there is so much more to this universe than what we have discovered so far.

And it nailed Optimus Prime. He was perfect. He was also voiced by the very same v... Thu, 5 Jul 2007 01:36:33 EST Geek Satisfaction ... When you're able to buy a t-shirt one size smaller that says "Geek Is Sexy" and feel good wearing it. :)

I found that ThinkGeek ( has some great t-shirts; the next one on my list is "Obey Gravity--It's the Law!" with a retro cop on it. That, or the shirt with the chocolate molecule on it. Tue, 22 May 2007 21:56:15 EST Kingdom of Loathing anybody? Hey guys, I just wanted to throw a shout out to one of the other sites i visit daily: Its a hilarious web based RPG that I have been playing off and on for the past year or so. The creator has an amazing sense of humor and its actually a pretty fun game. Its probably nothing like what you are expecting in your head so give it a look. Its good for a laugh and some entertainment if you have some daily down time at work or school.

If there are al... Fri, 18 May 2007 13:59:32 EST Looking for buddies? Hi everyone, I'm new to this team. Feel free to add me to your friend list if you want someone supportive to talk to.
174
I'm a software developer living near Philly. I signed up for this site a few weeks ago ... I'm trying to improve my fitness level, improve my eating habits, listen better to my body, etc. (I could probably stand to lose a few pounds in addition to that, but I'm trying to just focus on the habits, not the numbers.) Tue, 15 May 2007 17:56:32 EST Embarrassing, highly geekish, injury I think I may need some moral support here. Earlier today I bought and brought home for fun and play, DDR Universe for my 360. It's a blast, or at least it was for the first ten minutes. That's how long it took me to slip, misstep, and twist my left ankle.

I haven't been this embarrassed since that time when I had to confess to my doctor that my chronic back pain came from playing far too much Everquest in a bad chair...

...and I spent a lot of money on DDR Universe and... Mon, 5 Mar 2007 01:04:03 EST lego's Do I have any lego fanatics here? I really love the technics that they used to make. I have several of the more older advanced sets (motocycle with working engine, submarine with pnumatic powered arm) and would love the robotic's sets. they seem REALLY cool. with a high price point to match, unfortunatly. Tue, 20 Feb 2007 09:06:13 EST machine builders (not at all Spark releated) Any computer builder's here? I have built 3 or 4 machines and am geeky enough that I was at Compusa for the midnight release of Vista (for my brothers computer) I dont even have a computer at my house. I am too cheap for the hardware and software purchases. Plus I refuse to do business with Cox communications the only ISP in the area.

Sorry, off topic there.

Back to the original topic: Do i have any builders here? if so what are the current specs on your most rece... Tue, 20 Feb 2007 03:02:49 EST New to spark - and a question Hi all. I'm a 33yo female from Dublin, OH. I work in an office, have a mostly sedentary lifestyle (I am a geek, after all!).

What steps are folks in this group taking to break the sedentary lifestyle of being a geek? Sun, 7 Jan 2007 19:16:33 EST Road trip! It is 5:48 here right now. I am up, awake and fully dressed, and waiting for my in-laws' car to pull into the driveway. When it does, I will go back into the bedroom, wake up the guy sleeping in there and we'll trudge out, into the car, and the whole bunch of us will drive for the next 12 hours or so, until we reach the family we're visiting for Thanksgiving.

What are you doing for the holiday?

-Chili Wed, 22 Nov 2006 07:49:10 EST WoW happened. So yeah... I started playing World of Warcraft and I am now basically the laziest and nerdiest person I know, haha.

I played a lot of videogames before this one, but this one is pretty addictive. If my boyfriend didn't play as well, I don't know what I'd do.

Wed, 15 Nov 2006 16:35:03 EST Ftw. (Or: "May I have your attention please?") Hello, Geek Forum!

I need, or at least I would like, a second opinion on this piece of writing that I am very badly tempted to post in the blog SP provides. I'm not entirely sure it would be appreciated by everyone who might stumble across it though, so I thought I'd ask for a second opinion. To post or not to post? That's the question.

And yes, I have been a bit frustrated lately. :-)

-Chili

*******************************

They told me i... Mon, 13 Nov 2006 01:27:40 EST What are your goals? Since this little team is built around a lifestyle (mindset?) that doesn't clearly articulate our goals, I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread for them. In the "lose 20 lbs before Christmas"-team, everyone has roughly the same goal, and thus the same challenges and triumphs that they can share with each other. We don't, but it seems logical to assume that we have other things in common, things that can be just as supportive, helpful, and encouraging, if we only let them.
<B... Mon, 16 Oct 2006 10:41:40 EST Team logo Since I'm in an active mood this evening, I have decided to upload a team logo. However, I have run into an unfortunate problem. I have no idea what to upload. I'm thinking of Yoda, because I like him, but there are all sorts of geeks, and not all of them are in to Star Wars. So I'm thinking we need a vote, or at least suggestions from other team members.

Who or what should be our team logo?

-Chili Mon, 2 Oct 2006 23:15:00 EST Hello and welcome Hi everyone,

As you've probably noticed, I've become the new team leader. Kekadu was generous and let gave me admin abilities of this little forum when I asked her if she would mind if I tried to get the Geeks and Nerds team active again.

As you probably can imagine, I really appreciate the gesture.

I'd like to make the team active, as active as can be, with everyone having jobs, school, family, and so on.

So let's start be active and healthy geeks... Mon, 2 Oct 2006 22:45:24 EST So what makes you a geek/nerd? Are you a computer whiz? 4r3 j00 9r347 47 r34din9 4nd wri7in9 1337? Can you quote all of Monty Python and the Holy Grail? Do you LARP or dice chuck? Can you tell the difference between Rosencrantz and Guildenstern based on the lines alone? Is Chewie your copilot? Did you cry when Aeris died?

Just what is it that you do or what you know or who you are that makes you embrace your inner nerd-geekness?

I'm a dice chucking, Shakespeare reading, Renfest going, Serenity fangi...
