My youngest son starts kindergarten this year so I'll be able to train longer into the foul weather seasons without feeling guilty about keeping my children out in it. New from Tennessee Well, I am 29, married, and mom of two boys. I am really just wanting to get moving more. We got our first canoe this weekend and had it out as soon as we saw water and all day today. I can't wait to go again! Anyway, we are an outdoorsy family. We like to do/try about anything...I really try not to show any reluctance :) Anyway, just wanted to see what everyone else does for fun. Later :) Mon, 16 Jun 2008 00:44:36 EST Weekend Warrior Summer Challenge Okay, ladies, here's your challenge for the summer - find time to get yourself outside every weekend for a more extensive activity. Meaning, it must be at least a half hour. It can be hiking, water sports, horseback riding, biking, anything - just enjoy it and try to at least juggle a couple of different activities so you're not doing the same thing every weekend. Maybe even try something new! Sun, 15 Jun 2008 19:16:20 EST Hi from Maine! Hi I'm Laura. I'm 23 and I teach middle school math. I'm also going to graduate school part time. I've always loved the outdoors so this seemed like it might be a good place for me. My husband had never hiked until he met me and now we go all the time! He even proposed at the summit of a mountain! I've convinced him to try backpacking this summer too. I'm training for two races in the lat summer/early fall and I really prefer to train on trails. Not a big fan of the treadmill!
<... Sat, 14 Jun 2008 08:18:08 EST Lets chat Good morning one and all! I thought it might be helpful for us to have a place to go just to shoot the breeze, share stories and help inspire our fellow team mates.EASAUER,and I have some fun things in the works for us all! Come on in and join the fun!! Sat, 14 Jun 2008 07:56:34 EST What New Sport/Activity Have You Been Dying to Try I really, really want to try surfing. Being landlocked in Ohio I haven't been able to do it yet. Although, I have seen that a lot of people surf the Great Lakes. Insane! Anyway, have been wanting to save up this year to take a women's surf camp in San Diego with Surf Divas. What about everyone else? What have you been wanting to try? Thu, 12 Jun 2008 10:28:47 EST Hi !! I'm from Orillia, Ontario, Canada 30 Tue, 10 Jun 2008 07:38:15 EST Gear You Can't Live Without What is is that you just can't live without for your outdoor activities? It sounds silly, but I love my Punisher bike jersey and my padded bike skort (functional yet girly). My Trek mountain bike is one of their models for women and I wouldn't give it up for anything considering I'm short-limbed so it's made a big difference when I ride. How about you? Fri, 6 Jun 2008 07:53:17 EST Hi, from New York! Hello to all of you fellow outdoorsy girls! My name is Sofie, and I live in New York, in the country, south-west of Syracuse. I fell off the wagon twice this year. I have hypothyroid and just got my medication doubled, so feeling good about getting started. Another reason why I fell off was the dreaded weather. I started in January, thinking I could get out there and do my walking, but I didn't. I wimped out. And I HATE indoor machines. So, anyway. Here I am, back and determined. Good Luck to... Thu, 5 Jun 2008 14:34:07 EST Team Leaders? Are the team leaders for this group still active on the site? I haven't seen any new posts and the sticky topics are for birthdays from last year. Just wondering...thought maybe we could set some team goals and get the group more inspired. Thu, 5 Jun 2008 06:00:13 EST Hey! How About Some Huddling Around Here! We need to get this group going. We need some team huddling and some bodies making an appearance every once in a while. Maybe we should invite some Spark friends from other groups to join and see if we can liven the place up a bit. Fri, 30 May 2008 10:51:30 EST What Outdoor Plans Does Everyone Have? Just thought it would be nice to see what plans everyone has for the next few weeks now that we are heading into summer. I know I'm canoeing at least once in the next couple of weeks, and I want to try a new mountain bike trail. What's everyone else doing? Thu, 29 May 2008 12:01:05 EST Hi everyone! Hi to the new team! I'm not super new to SP, been here about a month, and just found this team! =) I'm most def an outdoor girl, and maybe I can find someone to do some activities with here! =) Looking forward to posting and reading!

-Cari Fri, 9 May 2008 01:05:37 EST My challenge to you I just finished a 30 hour fast (with a bunch of teenagers) this weekend. I think it's good to do this once in awhile if your health allows. This is the 4th time I've done it. I do a "safe" fast with them that includes fruit juice, 1/2 a banana (2x during the 30 hours), and 1/2 cup (total) cooked brown rice. The kids did this for World Vision's 30-Hour-Famine and raised support for impoverished children in 3rd world countries. It's such an eye opener for everyone involved. We are SO spoiled in... Has this been discussed before, and decided against? That "no icon" thing just bothers me. Anne Sun, 23 Mar 2008 20:29:06 EST Vintage RV's I heard about a group of women who have each bought a vintage RV...small ones...and fixed them up. Now they all go camping together with these cool old campers. Has anybody else heard about these ladies? Sun, 9 Mar 2008 23:29:33 EST RV'er, 4 wheeler Hey everyone, just joined this team. I've been a member of SP for almost 2 years, and I was doing a really good job with healthful living and consistent exercising until my husband and I went backpacking through Central and South America for 10 months. Now that we are back in the States I am having a really hard time adjusting back to a busy work schedule and I am not sticking to any of my eating and exercising goals. If you look at my sparkpage you will see that the outdoors is very important to me. We have a trailer in Michigan and a pontoon boat that we fish on. I just started fishing a few years ago. I really didn't have a very good teacher, so it's been pretty much trial and error. I love to be on the water. I like kayaking, canoeing and whitewater rafting. I like to go on boy scout outings with the 14year old son. I enjoy sleeping outside, as long as it's not too hot and cooki... Mon, 14 May 2007 10:16:39 EST Very girly question for bike riders OK, I can't believe I am asking this, but I have nowhere else to turn. I am planning a really long bike trip (aka months) and am trying to pick the right gear. My question is about pants. If I have a good seat do I need padded shorts? I would think they would get worn out really quickly if I ride in them all the time - or maybe too sweaty too fast for an all day ride. Also - and here is the girly part - what about underwear?? From thong to granny panties - what would be more confortable ... Sat, 28 Apr 2007 07:51:43 EST The one place you would love to exercise If there was one place where I could be outside exercising I think it would have to be Holland.
