I'm kelly. I was once on the team charmed swappers, but had to leave it due to some issues that came up in my life, and I had to downsize on spark teams. I haven't been quilting in about 5 years, but started back last week. I have a sewing room set up and my husband made me a 3' X 6' sewing table with shelves in the corners. I am excited to be able to get back to the sewing machine and have made several blocks already!!

i retired in June so now have more time to devote to c... I was a member of SP a few years ago and stopped and had to recreate myself again in here. I am married, 2 adult kids, 2 four legged kids, love to quilt, read, be out in the woods and want to be healthier so I can do more out in the woods. I have too much to live for to stay in the condition that I am in right now! I hope I got this message in the right spot. I got frustrated trying to move around in SP and am hoping it is now easier or that I will learn lol
Sat, 21 Feb 2015 01:55:17 EST New Member http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x972x59711093 Hey everyone!

I just found this team today. I'm glad to find it. I have been quilting since I was around 13 or 14. I made my first quilt in 1996. I still use it to this day, but it is getting holes in it now. I am possibly going to be teaching my students quilting at our life skills center. The residential facility where I work is working on getting donations to buy sewing machines and supplies.

Bekah Sun, 9 Nov 2014 14:04:58 EST November 2014 goals/re olutions http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x972x59657644 November is off to a busy start. I am just a newbie to quilting, just coming up one and a half years, and love it. I am just finishing up a Global Friendship Quilt group. We will be finished in December. It has been interesting to see see the different blocks come into me, and has challenged me to learn about paper piecing. Do you do anything like this within this group? Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Donna Wed, 22 Oct 2014 14:35:54 EST July 2014 goals and resolutions http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x972x58427297 OK, not being alowed to ride my bike for the past 6 weeks has taken it's toll. And I did not do well enough on watching my calories. And taking trips every other week hasn't helped either. So I have shamefully gained 5 pounds. Just had a story done on a quilt I completed in local newspaper and another town called me too. I finished a Friendship quilt my mother started in 1936 and I gave it to her for her 93rd birthday. It's the first big quilt I have made. I am a beginner so this was quite a project for me. A friend talked me into joining the local quilt quild. Excited to learn from everyone!! Just happened on this site and find it very, very useful. Strange how those pounds creep up, and how they stay the older we get. I am a long-time quilter and am completely addicted. My stash is too big, the UFO's too numerous, but it is much cheaper (I hope) than a therapist. Good to meet another group of quilters.

I live in southeast Texas, where it is extremely hot and around this time of the year we are truly counting down to Octob... Mon, 30 Jul 2012 14:38:40 EST Hello from Oregon http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x972x49076110 Been on SP a couple months just really starting to look through all the teams I love the idea of this one. I've been quilting for about 3 years and I've made one for each of my 9 grand kids. Finally working on one for myself which seems to to taking forever, but with it I'm actually hand quilting it. It's definitely a challenge for me but I'll get it done. 252 Fri, 20 Jul 2012 16:43:23 EST Black & White Quilt http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x972x49005874 My friend's daughter is getting married next month, so I asked what her favorite color is so I could get started on her quilt. Answer: BLACK! Ugh. I've never liked black, so therefore my fabric stash has very little (well, none, really) black fabrics. But I am thinking of taking the plunge and making a black and white quilt. I was just wondering if any of you had ever made one and if you had any tips or pictures to share. I am new to the team and live just outside of Seattle, WA. I love quilting and pretty much all needlework. I discovered quilting about 5 years ago when one of my friends wanted to take a class and I volunteered to go with him. Having spent many years sewing square dance outfits with all the ruffles and gathering my only condition to sewing was that I would only sew straight seams. If I never see another curve, ruffle, or gather it will be too soon for me, but it is amazing w... Now is the time to prepare.

My October Resolution is to stick strictly to my nutritional guidelines. Thu, 23 Sep 2010 02:15:02 EST Bits and Pieces http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x972x36639945 Does anybody save their "bits and pieces" to use in projects? I mean the 1" square pieces or larger, but they are left-over from cutting strips or shapes for the "real" project.

Part of me says "Just throw them away" another part says "But I can USE them! Somehow...." and yet another part says "Maybe somebody ELSE loves the bits and pieces and can use them".

Thanks to Google, I just discovered there's really a term for these bits: "Crumbs". I don't want to spend alot on a sewing machine, no more then $400 probably, and I just need something pretty basic that is good for quilting and sewing. The place I will get it carries Singer and Viking. Dose anyone have any opinion or advice on what to get, or suggestions on something I really need to make sure the machine dose or has? Any information is appreciated. Thanks. I've never made a quilt from clothes before and was wondering if there are any do's or don'ts I should know about before I start. It's going to be a mixture of jeans, flannel shirts and t-shirts.
