I joined at the beginning of 2012, trying to go back to weightwatchers....which failed miserably. Then, in Dec 2012, I started researching the low carb lifestyle. Being 5' and 170 lbs (and turning 59), I was desperate. I started Atkins on this day a year ago and as of today, I am 30 pounds lighter, weighing in at 140. I am battling a low thyroid and was not consistant with my meds. About mid year, I saw the correlation between... I just sent off for the Wheat Belly book. I was following Atkins pretty successfully for about a year, got hurt, couldn't take care of myself and things spiraled out of control. I need to re-lose 30lbs and get a handle on my food as well as my inflammation and joint pain. I have tried to start Atkins a couple of times but couldn't stay with it. I'm hoping a new book, similar but different, will help to motivate me. When eating low carb is so goo... I have recently started trying a low carb/high protein diet and am thrilled with the results. I am, however, having trouble keeping my carbs lower than my protein. I do use the food tracker on spark people to help me. I also keep an eye on my sodium levels, too.
Right now I seem to be on a plateau and can't get off of it.
Looking forward to meeting some friends on the same journey.
