Come join us for Scratch Made Goodness! SparkPeople Love To Bake Team Messageboard Light and Easy Chat This is a lovely morning. I opened the back door and saw all the glittering spider's webs in the trees and grass. They are helpful garden spiders so aren't scary. The kittie came inside and ate her crunchies and then decided to nap in the open doorway. Yesterday I got laundry done and did my daily walking. I want to wish all my spark teams a good day Fri, 4 Oct 2019 10:07:58 EST What is Your Most Essential Baking Tool? Fine-Mesh Sieve
I use my fine-mesh sieve in a lot of different ways. I use it mostly for sifting dry ingredients or adding a dusting of powdered sugar to a finished pan of brownies or cookies. I have a second one that comes in handy for draining wet ingredients (especially small ones, like quinoa, that would slip through a regular colander). I was just pondering how it is going.
First, I worked out at least 30 minutes on 5 of the first 7 days, skipping Saturday and Sunday, which is my plan.
Second, I tracked 5 of the 7 days faithfully. The 2 days I did not track were days in which something knocked me o... Wed, 10 Dec 2014 13:19:22 EST Hi! Hi! My name is Jenny, and I love to bake.

I have spent lots of years feeling guilty about baking rather than just baking and enjoying it. I guess that since I have been dieting for 41 years, some of those "rules" for dieting got reinforced in my mind. Cookies are naughty, and cakes are forbidden, etc.

I have decided to embrace my love for desserts and baking. I am just going to be faithful about logging what I eat. I started on this particular journey on July 07, 2013. My intention was to lose weight and gain Self-Esteem(the latter being more important). In that year I have lost close to 90 lbs(will be there by July 07 this year). If I had to put a "goal weight" on myself, it would be somewhere near 138 - 140. Currently I am @ 170. I would love to get to know you all better so we can motivate each other on this ... Wed, 25 Jun 2014 07:53:12 EST Retired Baker here Hello everyone. Love to bake!! 475 Tue, 21 Aug 2012 00:18:22 EST Hi. Hello-just joined today--and I'm happy to see others on here who love to bake like I do. It's therapy and really just a happy activity, and I won't give it up for any diet or fitness plan. So, here I am----exercising control and other things. Sun, 19 Aug 2012 16:34:37 EST Hello, new to group Hello, just thought I would join this group as I LOVE to bake. My downfall really.

I am a trained Professional Cook (not a Chef), yet. My day job is being a School Cook, which I totally love. I worked in a small restaurant before the school and really didn't like it, hated the hours (mornings, nights, weekends). And my talent was being wasted. I care about Food Allergies, I have always wanted to work with kids. So I quit cooking for the parents and started cooking for their kids in... Sun, 19 Aug 2012 01:28:10 EST Hi there, people like me! My name is Kate and I'm a cupcake addict. I love filled cupcakes with deliciously-flavored frosting, but unfortunately I just moved away for graduate school and have no excuse to bake full batches anymore. School hasn't started yet so I haven't met anyone to share them with, and the plethora of goodies in my apartment would just be too tempting. I'm so glad that I can gain encouragement in my get-healthy mission from others with similar interests. And maybe some of you have small-batch or les... Love the recipe site! Wed, 18 Jul 2012 10:33:05 EST Baking is my Therapy! Hi~ I am fairly new to Spark people, just joined last Thursday. Very excited to get moving and hopefully lose my excess pounds. I also love to bake - it is a form of therapy for me. If I have had a bad day at work, or am feeling low, I know I can whip something up in the kitchen and feel better by the end. Fortunately, I only eat one or two servings of whatever I make and the rest goes to work with my husband! I have my own "home-baking" business and spend a lot of time reading baking bl... Sun, 8 Jul 2012 23:55:03 EST Hi Everyone!! Who doesn't Love to Bake!? Eat what they bake?! Feel guilty after they eat the entire thing!?!? LOL I sure do and have! I'm beginning (again) my quest to healthy living but this time I would like to do it the right way! Healthy eating, exercise and self confidence in myself is going to see me through this..I'm scared, excited and anxious all at the same time!! I'm sure I can gain some knowledge from this group or in the very least I'll gain a good support group that will stop me from eating ... Mon, 25 Jun 2012 23:30:51 EST Baker Pals Hi there,
Do I love to bake? That is almost as silly as asking me if I remembered to breath today. Yes I love to bake. There is something about haveing my hands in bread dough that makes me feel what would you say.... relaxed. I love the feel of it. Rolling out cinnamon rolls, loave bread, cinnamon twist, buns, just gives you a good feeling. Then to see it come out of the oven and your kids are like oh look, mom has made bread." Can we have some, please, please???? It is worth it.... Thu, 17 May 2012 22:15:53 EST Hello All Hello fellow cooks. I have been a part of Sparkpeople for a little while now. I purchased the Sparkpeople cookbook but I have yet to find the time to bake. My father's birthday is coming up and I plan on trying one of the cake recipes and waiting on what he thinks of the flavor before I tell him it is lower in calories than a traditional cake. I just discovered this group and I cannot wait to exchange recipe ideas and such. Happy healthy baking.
4 Wed, 9 May 2012 00:28:39 EST Hello fellow cooks and bakers. Hello everyone. My name is Linda. I absolutely love to cook and bake. I look forward to sharing recipes with you all.
30 Thu, 26 Apr 2012 20:58:10 EST hello everyone... I'm a married Mom of 6 wonderful children. In the last few years, my interest in cooking has really taken off - especially baking. The problem is, I have to try everything I bake which isn't helping with my weight loss efforts. I love to bake cookies and cakes for my kids and hubby and lower calorie options would be great, just in case I do feel the need to indulge. I am focusing more on healthy meals that will benefit the whole family, but I do miss baking the sweet treats on the weekend... I look forward to reading all about you and to learn much much more... not just for myself but for them also. Sun, 11 Mar 2012 18:24:34 EST Nice to meet you all Hello everyone! I recently joined spark and this group so I thought I would stop by and say hello and tell you a bit about myself. I am 27 years old and living in Ireland. Just last month I celebrated 3 years of being married to my amazing husband. I have always been heavy, ever since I hit puberty. I have a lot of travel related goals that I would like to see through before we settle down to have a family. None of that will happen while I'm 277 pounds. I've set myself a "small" goal of being... I'm back and ready this time to really stay focused! I've been here before and was very successful, but then some pretty bad things happened in my life and I gained all the weight I'd lost back again. I was miserable and I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. I'm also quite a bit more motivated now. But anywho, howdy. y'all, and let's see where this journey takes me! Mon, 30 Jan 2012 00:53:57 EST Love to bake Looking for new ideas for baking treats. I have found a lower fat recipe for banana bread that is very good if anyone would like. Tue, 24 Jan 2012 06:51:37 EST Baking for kids' lunchboxes One of my New Year's resolutions is to rely less on prepackaged stuff and do more home baking, especially for the kids. Things like breads, muffins, etc. and then do some substituting of ingredients to make them healthier. Do you put homebaked goods in your kids' lunchboxes ? What do you make and do your kids like the healthier versions, if you've tried making them ? Thu, 19 Jan 2012 21:27:12 EST Howdy! HI!!

I am Pastrygirl2009, and as I name suggest I LOVE to bake. I have even studied pastry in culinary school. Though I find that as much as I love to bake I dont always want to eat the sweets. I would rather buy a cake and eat it than bake a cake and eat it. but I love baking. kind of odd I think.

Baking is science for hungry people! Thu, 12 Jan 2012 15:55:01 EST Hello to all the baking lovers out there!!! Hi Everyone!!!! My name is Alexis. I used to bake with my mom when I was younger and loved it. I'm at university right now, plan on attending a culinary university after, and work through Disney's culinary college program to expand my baking knowledge. My ultimate goal (not weight loss related) is to own my own successful bakery. Among my friends I am considered a "baking snob". So glad to have found a baking team! =D Good luck to everyone here. Tue, 29 Nov 2011 02:45:41 EST Bread Bakers? I am primarily a bread baker and think there's nothing that makes the house smell better than the aroma of freshly baked bread. Despite having a Kitchen Aid mixer, I always hand knead my breads because I love the feel of the dough changing under my hands.

I have a sourdough starter lovingly named Shelob ("she's hungry; she always feed"), who has children named Hal and Audrey and even has grandchildren!

Are there any others out there who know and love the joy o... Thu, 24 Nov 2011 12:43:53 EST Salutations! I was kneading the dough for Thanksgiving rolls when I suddenly wondered, is there a baking team on Spark People? And here you all are!

I'm 53, a lawyer, and I love my new kitchen! The best thing about it is being my wonderful oven and the things I get to bake in it. I am primarily a bread baker. I started over again a couple of weeks ago.

I like to cook but I love to bake (at least when the kitchen is clean). If what I have to take to family dinners is any indication I'm better at baking since they always want me to bring cookies, pies, or home made bread.

I'm trying to slowly convert my recipes to healthier versions.
