I'm just getting back in the swing of things as a returning Spark member and Geocacher. Life got a bit too crazy the past couple of years and I let everything fall to the wayside. This past week, I've been working on committing myself to tracking food and reconnecting through message boards. Today, I pulled all my caching toys/tools and logbooks out of the closet so I can get back to the hunting trail. I... Wed, 20 Jul 2016 20:21:01 EST Hello! Hello! My name is Halee. I'm 22 years old. I want to place some in a local park, but I see I have to get permission of the park management and that may be tricky.

Fri, 21 Sep 2012 23:44:36 EST Message Removed Message Removed Thu, 30 Aug 2012 00:58:23 EST Hardcore1 This cache is located in Felton , Pa it is a little hike and a climb also you need to cross a creek but it is so worth it I recommend it to everyone it is awesome. 104 244 250 345 Mon, 20 Aug 2012 14:38:51 EST 10,000 finds We had a very long caching weekend, Drove about 1500 miles, found about 1050, and in the process found our 10,000th cache! Mon, 20 Aug 2012 00:57:17 EST Geocaching in MN I've been on Spark for several months now and have lost enough weight to surpass the amount one of my kids weighs. I'm just starting to look for caches and found 2 of the 3 in my own backyard! I live right behind a park, so naturally there were some there. I just need to stare harder for that third one. I plan on walking around the neighborhood to find some caches and there are plenty in town.

It's really an interesting way to get more exercise in! It looks like fun! I hope to get ... Mon, 6 Aug 2012 18:53:23 EST Off to a weekend of Geocaching There is a Geocaching event we go to every year "The Big Bear Cache-Bash"up in the mountains. Most years there is a group that goes on a jeep run to get some of the remote caches you can't easily get to by hiking. (Because of the rattlesnakes in the area, it's not always wise to hike up boulder covered hills) This year, thanks to our new (to us) jeep, we get to join in on the fun! I'm really looking forward to it. Sun, 22 Jul 2012 22:34:35 EST Now I remember.... ...why I didn't do a lot caching last summer. I really, really hate spiders. My daughter and I both yell for mom to take care of any that we may come across. Between the bushwhacking, bugs, and the 3-4 webs I walked through, I have decided to skip the park caches until winter. What made it worse is that I only found 2 out 6 last night, and neither one of them was in the woods.

Heck, there was one that I was about 30 feet from, I saw the tree that it probably on or near, but ev... I'm fairly new to geocaching and just joined SparkPeople. My husband and I started caching as a form of inexpensive entertainment and exercise for ourselves and our kids and we love it! We have only been out a few times because of busy schedules but we are definitely looking forward to more caching! Mon, 18 Jul 2011 10:57:49 EST Oh Time, where have you gone? Not sure where all my time has gone. I've hardly made any time to get out, it's not even geocaching that has been pushed aside. I've not been walking, hiking, or any real activity. I just came back from an introductory geocachiing class at our local library and am very enthused! Question for you all. What kind of device is best? Should I get a hand held GPS or one that I can use in the car? I don't want to invest in a cell phone with the app. Secondly where is the best place to purchase such a device.....Amazon or big box store or where?
My husband and I are looking for a way to get exercise and make it fun and this seems the way to do it. Sat, 9 Jul 2011 17:50:23 EST New to the Team Hi Everyone,

I have been geocaching for a few years now with various family members and friends, but my husband and I did not have accounts or a GPS of our own. We recently received a hand-me-down GPS from someone else who geocaches, so now we are getting out on our own to find them. I wear a pedometer everyday and have been so happy to see my step count go up as a result of caching. All those steps made me think there may be a sparkteam for cachers. It was great to find you guys! Thu, 7 Jul 2011 08:17:33 EST New Cacher in VT Hello everyone! I recently discovered geocaching and since I'm trying to get my family out and active, thought it would be a great thing to do with my boys.

We went out on our first two hunts yesterday and it was so much fun! There was even a geocoin in one-- my teenager who usually complains when I drag him outside for hiking was asking if we could do more. Success! Mon, 4 Jul 2011 11:09:47 EST TICKS!!!!!! Hey! Does anyone out here have any surefire ways to repel ALL ticks???
I seem to attract them like magnets!!! I found 6 on me yesterday while I was wearing bug repellant with 40% DEET!!!!
They were hiding in my collar, under the waistband of my jeans, under my hair at the base of my neck, I even took off my shirt...turned it wrong side out...SEARCHED the entire shirt and ten minutes comes one crawling out from under my sleeve!!!
I despise the little blood sucker... Sun, 3 Jul 2011 15:18:07 EST Still Caching and I love it I have been on this team in the past and have been on Sparkpeople for a few years, but some changes are due. So here I am. Two years ago on sparkpeople I was chatting with a person from Australia. She mentioned geocaching. I had no idea what it was. And, I thought it was an "Australian thing." She told me there must be caches near me . I looked online and found an event a couple of miles from me happening the next day! It was a Saturday morning in the fall and about 25 people were there to put a memorial cache in the name of a member who had just passed away. I was amazed at the friendships th... It quickly has become my favorite family activity. I love the hiking and the adventure. I have cached in 3 states and I am hoping to add a few more to the mix. I was totally excited to see that there is a Geocaching group on SP. I LOVE IT! Sat, 21 May 2011 18:29:21 EST How many calories do you burn sliding down a hill? I figure the walking/hiking is cool, but while I was sliding down a hill of pine needles I wondered how to track that! I do remember when I was a kid being able to run so fast up a hill that it didn't matter how slippery it was cause you could walk faster than the sliding. But today - age and weight were brutal - I tried and tried to get up a hill with no success. I figure I am going to have to get cleats or something to make it! Now it's a challenge - but I do know that my legs are getting s... I plan to do some geocaching this summer in Europe. Wed, 27 Apr 2011 13:20:52 EST Frustrated! I got an email last night that someone couldn't find one of my caches. She's a seasoned cacher & it's a large ammo can so I knew something was wonky. Drove by on my way to work this morning to see someone had brought wire cutters and snipped my lead wire & STOLE MY AMMO CAN! Seriously? What is wrong with people? I just don't get it. It's worth under $20 & the stuff inside was worth less than that (monetarily anyway - it's a TB hotel!) I am still shaking my head here. Some of the local... Mon, 25 Apr 2011 10:33:40 EST Hi from Canada I am just getting back to being on SP after a long hiatus. I am relatively new to geocaching but I really like it because its something I can do with my husband and three kids. Its a great way to motivate all of us to get outside and find some really beautiful spots in our city. Sun, 24 Apr 2011 00:11:30 EST Another newbie from NoCal Hi - I haven't been active on SP for a while and when i started back up I found this team. I have been GC for only a short time and, while I've tackled a few puzzles, there are some pretty intimidating hardcore GCers in theSF Bay area. I'm mainly doing this as a way to get out in the fresh air and hopefully not get fixated on the numbers.

We've had late rains so everything is still pretty and green, making it even more fun. So, it is acceptable to hide a cache that I know I will archive in a year? Or is it better to wait until I'm more settled to hide caches? What do you think?
Thanks!
