My partner and I are both trying to get back in shape and we're just getting started on a major decluttering project. This is a long term project that we expect to complete next August (in preparation for a fall move into a bigger place). I finally have M on board for this decluttering project and for a more minimalist living style. Wed, 8 Oct 2014 10:03:49 EST A question to team members I'd like to throw a question out there. Yesterday, we went to a consignment store and I found the most wonderful coat. London Fog, removable lining, long and warm. It's just a big snug, but I expect with this new diet it will fit by early winter. It cost me $18.

Is it clutter or is a good deal? I know if I actually get to wearing it, it will be a great deal, But before then... when the decision comes to buying or not, what side do you lean towards? Sun, 28 Sep 2014 09:44:09 EST Crafts to Christmas One of the things I've noticed is that I have a lot of things related to crafts - whether tools, patterns, material. So I'm challenging myself to actually use these things so that they get gone in a good way. I will likely be making gifts for Christmas with a lot of it, or for donations. Sun, 7 Sep 2014 19:39:27 EST Back after a long absence I was a member of the team a while back, and time got away from me so I wasn't active on Spark for a while. I'm back to the team now, hoping to get back to decluttering and organizing the house. My biggest challenge at this point is the general living areas -- talk about a slippery slope! My DH and I started up on sorting into boxes (keep and put away, donate, toss) the long week-end in July, and it's all still sitting on my dining room table. ARGH! I have been a minimalist for years now and was on SP for a few years as well. I stopped using the site with a new crazy job, but I need to recommit to taking care of myself. Hello All,

I am almost done reading a book called "Stuff" which is about hoarding. While I am not a hoarder, I do have enough clutter to drive myself crazy sometimes! The book talks about the personality traits and life events etc that hoarders have and I can relate to much of that on a smaller, milder scale. I am getting fed up with having to "pick up" or apologize for the mess if anyone comes over. There is no reason why I can't just put things away after I use them but somehow, ... Sun, 9 Oct 2011 06:12:00 EST Working on the Master Bedroom today! Starting in one corner and working my way around the room 15 min at a time. Mon, 3 Oct 2011 11:19:37 EST October Challenges! Hi Team! It has been a very hot summer for some of us. I am so glad it is in the high eighties this weekend for south Texas! Hope everyone had a great, fun filled summer and along the way was able to find the time to de-clutter their home, yard or life. My summer has been very busy, and it doesn't look like the fall/winter is going to slow down for me either.

Most of us like to organize our stuff, so it doesn't look so cluttered. Thu, 29 Sep 2011 17:45:47 EST One bag at a time! A few days ago I had my kids try on all the clothes in their drawers (what a nightmare THAT was with the 3yr old...) BUT I have 2 trash bags filled with out grown clothes, one from each of them. I just tossed them in bags and tossed them downstairs for later sorting. Yesterday was a very busy day so I hit them today. Just sorted thru D-Man's bag and kept out some pajamas, a turtleneck with a dog on it and a pair of shorts to hold for Melly-Bean to grow into. Sun, 25 Sep 2011 05:52:20 EST Maintaining Hi gang,
I am so inspired by all of the great advice on organizing clothes and closets. Wed, 7 Sep 2011 16:59:53 EST What did you do today? I have been keeping a "to-do" list on my fridge. It feels so good to cross things off as they are finished. Still have LOTS of things on my list and more to add, but things are getting done and I am still exercising and eating right. Monday I cleaned the top of my gas cook top, it really needed it. Today, I washed the kitchen windows and swept the living room floor. My husband and I did an uncluttering and surface cleaning of the living room and kitchen on Saturday and so far we have managed... Sat, 3 Sep 2011 18:44:11 EST Those Never Ending Papers Ok ladies, I need some help. I feel like I am drowning in papers of all kinds. I am not talking about newspapers. Such a puzzlement! 334 Mon, 25 Jul 2011 12:07:35 EST July Challenge! Hi Everyone! I was thinking since we have quite few new team members just starting. Let's do something simple, but very productive for all of us.

Set a small goal. Example: "Today I'm going to clean one shelve in the kitchen, and then stop."

If you think about it by the end of the week we would have done at least 6-7 items. That puts a dent in our clutter!

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!!

244 Tue, 5 Jul 2011 20:39:33 EST How to convince someone else to declutter? For years, I've been at odds and ends with my mother to clean up. I'm the type of person who believes in having things neat and tidy, while my mother believes in having something on any surface. If there is nothing on it, there will be in a matter of minutes... I've tried everything to try and get my mom to declutter, to no avail. I've tried to throw out old magazines (she has hundreds) that have been laying around for months only to get yelled at "I CAN STILL LOOK AT THEM," or "I CAN USE ... Her's is too.

I DO NOT want my daughter to learn this is acceptable behaviour.

I am changing this starting TODAY.

Room by room, Day by Day, Week by Week I am going to clean up my act.

Come and join me as we cheer each other on. 224 . 224 . 224 Thu, 21 Oct 2010 17:07:58 EST Hi, it's me! I've been dealing with two types of cancer the past few years, and in doing so doubled weight and lost sight of things in the house and in the bank. I'm doing my last treatments around Nov 2, and I'm looking forward to taking on some new, healthier challenges. My goal is to return to a simpler, debt-free life, and bless others with the things I have that I don't use (rather than them gathering dust!) I look forward to sparking with you!
Tue, 19 Oct 2010 08:29:50 EST Fat clothes Since this is a fitness website, I can assume that many of us are losing weight and inches.
Has anyone been getting rid of the larger-sized clothing?
I think I'll be passing most of my clothing to the thrift shop, and perhaps to friends who might be able to use them. Fri, 1 Oct 2010 10:32:03 EST check in In the last couple of days, i've cleaned some more boxes and the top of a nightstand. I can already see that the rest of the week will be crazy with shopping I need to do, a funeral, and my homework. Tonight I'm going to do as many cycles of 15 minutes of cleaning and 30 minutes of breaking as I can handle. Hopefully I can really get into it and knock a good chunk out. Thu, 30 Sep 2010 16:30:13 EST Hello I stumbled upon this team and figured I could use it.
I've been making this a goal for several years. Ever since my children(now teenagers) attended a Waldorf school, they stressed the importance of intentional surroundings. To me, clutter feels "icky." I know that my living situation could be worse and believe me, I've walked through worse (hoarders) but I'm not quite where I want to be. Looking forward to this team spirit.... Lisa Wed, 29 Sep 2010 11:30:09 EST Intro Hello to everyone! I'm glad to be here at Sparkpeople and am already beginning to see the benefits in my mood and outlook after just under two weeks. I'm here to maintain and to eat healthier and become more active. Being thin does not automatically equal healthy and in shape! I have long wanted to eat better and be more active. I started hoopdancing a couple of months ago, which helps me get exercise and also stresses to me the importance of keeping a strong, healthy, flexible body so that I... Wed, 29 Sep 2010 10:15:00 EST Thanks That is good advice. I don't have a friend I can count on to be tough on me. I'll be home in about 2- 3 hours. I can commit to a min. of a 15 minute cleaning session. I also need to wake up early enough to throw out some more bags I have neglected to toss out before the bins get too full. I'm committing to do that too. I can co mitt to another session each day and report on it. Fri, 24 Sep 2010 21:17:01 EST Downsize me My whole apartment is so cluttered that I can see only small dots of the floor. I finally made myself throw away 6 bags of trash, but you couldn't tell. I often air on the steps outside to get my shoes on in the morning and I make sure people aren't in the hall before entering or exiting my apartment. The health inspector is coming on the 4th. That scares me, because I am behind on my rent and I can't help them find reasons to get me out. I work a physical job and I often arrive home drained....
