Fri, 17 Apr 2015 23:23:06 EST Meet your daily calorie allowance! Our challenge is to eat within our caloric range every day. How many calories are you allowed and did you stay within that range? How many days in a row have you been successful? Let's cheer each other on. Sat, 18 Aug 2012 11:39:47 EST How many push ups did you do today? I am committed to reach a goal of 50-100 push ups. Anyone want to join me? I am going to start today with one, and every day add one more to my routine. Not sure if I will be able to ever do 100, but 50 is definitely doable. Tue, 17 Jul 2012 00:45:36 EST Happy 3 Year Anniversary!!! I wonder how many of us were there in that first week back in april 2007 AND how many of us are still here!

I have found this is a lifetime effort and there are ups and downs. I am very happy to still be in here plugging away!!
take care and happy anniversary!

Mon, 5 Apr 2010 13:23:00 EST taking charge I have been a member of this site for a couple of years, but have not been heavily involved. After an exciting year of finishing graduate school and having a baby, I am ready to take charge and develop the healthy lifestyle that my family and I deserve. My focus is less about the numbers on the scale and more on eating well and incorporating exercise into our daily routines. Buddies, advice, and encouragement are much appreciated. I look forward to getting to know everyone! Sat, 26 Dec 2009 23:34:08 EST It's April 1-7th Team's Spark Anniversary!!! How many of us are still around? Hopefully even if you're not active on the site or the team, you're still committed to living well on your own :)

Happy Anniversary Week, everyone!
Lisa :) Wed, 2 Apr 2008 13:34:51 EST Anyone up for a competition? Our team has gotten stale; there's not a lot going on.

I say we come together and motivate eachother with a competition.

Any suggestions?

Perhaps a calories burned over 30 days?
Miles walked/ran over 30 days?

I'm open.

Let's get something going! Mon, 26 Nov 2007 11:55:07 EST Empresses Rule! 211
Hi, here we are. Think we can keep this secret? I'm glad we have some new people; but.... Tue, 18 Sep 2007 10:09:00 EST Reward Yourself (without food) I am an emotional and indulgent eater.

I try to look for ways to reward myself without having it be *food.*

How do you guys choose to reward yourself for your weight-loss accomplishments, not involving a nice dinner or a favorite snack? Wed, 29 Aug 2007 17:13:30 EST Still here? :) Hi guys! It's getting close to June, and I'm sure some of us have fallen behind, trailed off, gotten discouraged, but that we're mostly still working hard to reach our goals!

How's your progress? What are your questions? Is anything getting easier? Harder?

Everybody chime in and tell us how it's going or how our little SparkTeam can help you. If nothing else, tell us all something that has made you feel better about yourself since starting with SparkPeople.

-... Sun, 27 May 2007 23:52:55 EST What have your obstacles been so far? I have to admit I am having trouble with the exercising. Meaning, I'm not doing it. I'm finding it so hard to get myself motivated enough to exercise. I'm doing well enough with tracking my food and keeping in my calorie range.

I think because I'm going through some sadness in my personal life, the motivation just isn't there.

It would be helpful if others would share their personal obstacles so far. Tue, 15 May 2007 08:10:27 EST is anyone else frustrated? I've been reading blogs of "classmates" and everyone seems so positive. I'm just wondering, are you actually seeing results with this program? I have lost weight quickly with fad diets in the past, but would have been happy to lose 1 pound a week with SP, but after a month and a half I am only down about 2 pounds (which I lost about a month ago). In other words, I have seen no tangible progress over the past month though I have tried to stay near 1200 cal. per day and exercise 5 times a we... Mon, 14 May 2007 11:03:50 EST I'm the winner Just thought I post the results of the weight loss challange that a group of friends and I did (this is one thing what got me motivated and lead me to Spark).

7 of us got together to see who could lose the most weight and give each other motivation and accountability.

We all put $30 in a pot and the one who lost the largest % of body weight after 6 weeks would get all the money. Well all but one of us lost weight, but once the results were finalized I was the winner ta... Fri, 11 May 2007 17:11:18 EST How did you find sparkpeople? I thought it would be interesting to see how you found out about this site. One of my friends from an online blogging site mentioned that she had a site here and I still didn't think much of it, until she suggested I go and sign up, and she described it as a myspace for dieters and people trying to be healthy. Once I signed up and looked through it, I realized it was so much more!! Tue, 8 May 2007 13:24:17 EST help for a teacher So the school year is quickly coming to a close, which means that I'll be around the house (and food) all day. Any ideas from people who work at home or are stay-at-home parents about how to stay away from the fridge/cupboards between meals? I really haven't had to tackle temptation much before now. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Tue, 8 May 2007 13:02:52 EST Is everyone else in Stage 2 already? I just moved to Stage 2 today (day 35). I've been concerned that I wasn't ready, didn't know enough, ya-ya-ya ...

And I discovered I've already been measuring my butter and weighing my meat and counting my calories and I guess I've been ready. But I think the exercise part is going to be my bigger challenge. I've still not developed a routine or pattern for exercising.

ElaineAnn Tue, 8 May 2007 00:27:49 EST Exercise can be Awesome! I am a lazy bum - I say it because it's true. I have to drag myself to work out, I have to force myself to finish the *full* amount of time on the clock. Sheesh, I actually find it challenging to get out of bed and start my day. I'll say it again: I'm a lazy bum.

But since joining Spark people I have worked out an average of 30-35 minutes a day. I exercise 6-7 days each week. And today I realize how much it rocks.

First thing I noticed was a few weeks ago: my mood improv... Hi lovely people, i hope all's going well with u. i havent seen any changes since i lost the first 6lbs. i dont know if that is what the plateau stage is. can someone kindly lemme know what to do again to keep the scales talking? i'm eating well and excercising as well. thanks Wed, 2 May 2007 16:17:46 EST Guh.. I feel so lame, last week I got so off track. I ate more (including cheese curds) then I should've, I barely exersised, besides one day of strentgh training.

But now, I am back on track, i gained back a whole pound from that nonsense, but, I lost it once again. Tue, 1 May 2007 17:16:42 EST Challenges? Obstacles? While I believe it's really good to concentrate on the positive changes we've made in our lives, I also think it can be positive to figure out the obstacles, challenges in our lives that make it difficult to make that positive change that we want. So I just thought I'd start a thread about them and discuss them. It can be small, big, anything really that you see that may keep you from getting to your goal. I'll start...

So I realized that while I am an emotional/boredom eater, I te... Mon, 30 Apr 2007 04:08:07 EST This is such a fun site! I just wanted to post to say how much fun I'm having on this site! There is soo much to do! Back when I did WW a long time ago, I loved that site too cuz of the message boards, but it seems like here there is so much more to choose from doing! Even on the days when I decide not to record what I'm eating, for whatever reason... I still have fun doing the other things. It's really motivating! Sat, 28 Apr 2007 21:38:37 EST so its been 3 weeks and I'm loving this!! I was stalling on WW and I find this to be so much more relaxed. Plus I finally broke my platau and I've lost 1 pound in three weeks (I know it doesn't sound like much, but I've been at a standstill since mid-Jan) Wed, 25 Apr 2007 19:17:51 EST so its been 3 weeks and I'm loving this!! I was stalling on WW and I find this to be so much more relaxed. Plus I finally broke my platau and I've lost 1.6 pounds in three weeks (I know it doesn't sound like much, but I've been at a standstill since mid-Jan) Wed, 25 Apr 2007 19:16:38 EST Week 3 when i start a new health plan -- i do fine (first two weeks) until my will power runs out (usually carries me for 16 days) and it's oh no -- i have to eat and eat and eat and eat!

crazy thing is that i don't deprive myself (not too much anyway) and because of the lack of deprivation and no intense workout schedule (which is how i normally prefer it) i don't get where the mad hungry trigger that occurs at the start of week 3 comes from

i'm wondering if there is anyone e... It is incredible how after a day when I felt so down and weak, now am feeling I can defeat ANY hurdles I may find in my way to weightloss. Tue, 24 Apr 2007 03:18:49 EST I,m old but new Hi, have been here for a few weeks but didn't find this until today. Looking forward to some good habit changes and have already learned so much in the few weeks I 've been on board. nancy Sun, 22 Apr 2007 13:10:00 EST wow Boy it doesn,t take long for the cals to add up when you go out for lunch doe's it.I just went out and had a one top pizza at pizza hut and the topping was mushrooms no meat and little cheese on a hand tossed crust with no oil and it still added up with the cheese bread sticks and diet pepsi.Wow.But it is still just barely under 1200 calories.Leaves me enough to have a bowl of salad for supper tonite.IT'S GONNA BE A LONG HUNGRY NITE 40 Fri, 20 Apr 2007 15:48:07 EST HI Hello everyone,

I joined on April 5 or 6 and I'm just getting around to seeing all of the features. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Denise Fri, 20 Apr 2007 15:06:05 EST 2nd week done - starting 3rd I started april 6th, so I'm just starting 3rd today. After a tough week (I found it very difficult to stay whithin my calories range this past week, going over most of the time) I still managed to lose 0.5 lb for a total of 3 since I started. Well, this makes an average of 1.5/week, doesn't it? Most of all, I didn't gain back those pounds I lost the week before (which is exactly what I have been doing for the last months). I am now determined to do my best this coming week.
242... Fri, 20 Apr 2007 14:18:07 EST would anyone be interested in.. I am creating a video list from Youtube for all the cardio stuff I find on the site, so when I'm feeling like I just need to go at it and cant find anything on fitTV (my new favorite TV station) I can go to it...

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in me sharing it with the rest of you, and if theres any type of fitness thing you would want to see a collection of that I could add. Thu, 19 Apr 2007 13:55:28 EST Increasing Strength Exercises I am now adding more exercises to my overall plan. I am up to doing 15 to 17 each time. I am trying to build enough strength to do more cardio and drop these unwanted pounds. Everyone join me in adding one new exercise to the game plan. Sheila 211 Wed, 18 Apr 2007 10:31:04 EST Get Motivated The sun is shining and it is a beautiful day in Arkansas. This is my 3rd week and I am losing well. I am eating good for me low calorie foods, doing at least 12 strength exercises and topping off the day with my cardio. I woke up really sore after walking 26 minutes holding on to my grandson yesterday. That kind of pain is good. Everyone get motivated. Mon, 16 Apr 2007 12:08:12 EST if i keep doing what i've always done... and you know the rest

i don't want to allow my old habits to get the best of me here...especially when there is no need to as this program fits me well.

so, i'm going to really focus on the things i didn't do in my past weight lost attempts. today's focus - i will not isolate myself. instead, i will reach out to others, especially those working towards goals similar to my own

just wanted to send this out there to you and the universe -- perhaps someone knows... Mon, 16 Apr 2007 09:36:52 EST new to website Hey everyone. I was told about this website and it looks awesome. I will be starting my goals as of tomorrow. I am willing to change all my bad habits to achieve my goals. Hope everyone had a good weekend! Mon, 16 Apr 2007 01:15:33 EST Gym Partner Hi,
I'm in Las Vegas, and I'm just wondering if there is a person on SP who lives in the NE part of vegas and wants a gym buddy? I'm SO tired of flakes, like my sister(sorry),who goes one day and then takes 3 weeks off.I go at least 4 times a week, and although it isn't necessary to get a gym pal,I just think it would be fun.
Angelique Sat, 14 Apr 2007 22:29:24 EST Had a Great Day Its cold here and its another rainy day but I am in great mood. I went to grocery store and shopped and I walked instead of using electric riding cart.

I had lunch out for my week treat and after I ate what I wanted to eat, I only had 600 calories. Bad habits are sliding away.

I am drinking 80 to 100 ounces of water a day.

My family is noticing the difference in how I look already.

It is so nice to be able to move again doing my 12 strength exe... Sat, 14 Apr 2007 17:05:45 EST Need help planning for a road trip I have a funeral to go to on Monday, in Michigan. (My cousin died very suddenly, and he's about the same age as me. Talk about a wakeup call!) I'll be driving alone for the four hour drive up, and will have to leave very early -- at least 5am -- to get there in time.

I'm a muncher and Dew drinker when I drive alone. I figure I'd better plan for the trip, or I'll be off the wagon. Anyone got any ideas of how to keep things in control when I'll probably have to either eat in the... Sat, 14 Apr 2007 07:34:19 EST New and looking for a buddy (or buddies) Hi everyone...I've been a member since last week (like the rest of the group) but I haven't posted much, just lurking around, reading stuff. I want to try to find a buddy because I have a really hard time staying motivated. My family and friends are supportive, but don't really get it cause they either don't need or want to lose weight. I'm 25 and from Florida, just married in December. Hope to meet some of you 88 Fri, 13 Apr 2007 13:37:26 EST Weighing in I went to the doctors office yesterday and weighed in. I took little bites first week to try to keep jump starting my motabolism and to shrink my stomach. Last week I joined Sparkpeople. I have lost 14 pounds. I weigh less that I did last summer. It is a great great feeling to be going the other way. Thu, 12 Apr 2007 10:33:49 EST is too many diet drinks too much? I have a hard time drinking plain water. I've been adding crystal lite powder - a little at a time, until I get a little taste and then going through the day like that. I've also been using splenda in my green tea. Am I over-doing the diet sugar stuff? I'm finding that by doing this, I'm drinking constantly. I caught myself yesterday, drinking over a gallon of green tea, that in total, contained 4 teaspoons of splenda. I'm happy that I'm not drinking soda anymore, but I'm concerned that... Thu, 12 Apr 2007 01:06:41 EST Anyone else struggling with hypothyroidism? I was diagnosed with borderline hypothyroidism, but becuase of other medical issues, my Dr. advised that I not go on medication. I've been following my diet very strictly (even over Easter), but to my horror my weight was UP a pound today. I do find that even at 1300 calories it's a LOT of food for me to eat, but I'm sure I've made the problem worse by years of extreme dieting and I don't want to fall back into those unhealthy ways of losing weight. I'm trying to up my exercise to get a jump-... Wed, 11 Apr 2007 09:38:53 EST Are you reading articles under "Resource Center?" Hey guys! I just wanted to suggest to everyone here (since we're mostly pretty new) that you take a moment to look around the "RESOURCE CENTER" articles.

The health and wellness section has some really great bits on reducing stress and, well, there is just a lot of handy info on health, fitness and nutrition. :)

If you don't already, you should make the time to glance through. Tue, 10 Apr 2007 15:14:10 EST two conflicting(?) meal plans My boyfriend and I are both doing this program. However, since he's significantly larger than me, his calorie intake is totally different. The problem is, our meal plans are totally different, not just portion size. Obviously I'm not going to cook 2 dinners every day, so how do we manage this? Any ideas? Tue, 10 Apr 2007 12:48:28 EST do you know what is right?? I know the tracker makes suggestions but I have always found them too low for me and I get hungry, when I get hungry I will I increased the recommended calories for myself to what I know is about 2-300 less then I will eat on a normal day.

That, excercise, and caretaking (5 kids, dogs, volunteer work, husband and gardening) will do the rest, right?

Or should I just stay where I am and see what happens with my losses before chaning anything? Mon, 9 Apr 2007 12:24:39 EST What are *you* doing to get started? What are your goals? How are you working to reach them? What's working for you so far? What isn't?

I just think it would be nice to post a little about what we want and how we're working towards, and get feedback from others!

Good luck, guys!!!

9 Mon, 9 Apr 2007 11:56:22 EST How many points did you spin today? I started dieting last Thursday so I think I am going to give myself until Saturday and then bump it up to the next level. Does anyone know what to expect in stage 2? Mon, 9 Apr 2007 09:02:41 EST its the devil Doing strength training today, and yeah, i wished to share that "Genie Sit", is the devil himself...
Strength training with that will only build good muscles.. but still... I felt the burn.
have any of you found exercises that will party with my dear devil? 236
(that you dislike, but will be good in the long run) Sun, 8 Apr 2007 14:11:36 EST So where are the name tags... Just kidding. We are destined for great things....namely losing weight and being happier all around. Sun, 8 Apr 2007 00:15:12 EST WHAT AM I DOING!!! HELP HELP!! Oh my gosh, my calories have consistently went up since I started counting on Monday. Today they were 2500 and my max is 1550!! I just have no control the past few days! I know I'm PMSing and I woke up with a cold which always makes me hungrier too, but my willpower is GONE!! I am always aware of my goal, but give myself an excuse to keep cheating. I also think I"m doing good sometimes, and I'm not, guess it's all part of the learning process, but I think it's more about my willpower. A... Sat, 7 Apr 2007 20:37:17 EST Weird and wonderful ways to get exercise in I'm at work today, and I have a desk job. Fri, 6 Apr 2007 10:12:12 EST Just call me a sabotage dodger I have gone AWOL from sabotage. My husband LOVES to sabotage me when he knows I'm trying to lose weight. I mentioned in another post that I had successfully gotten through dinner out for the first time, without going over my points.

Well, at dinner, dh was teasing ds12 about his hair. DS is very sensitive, and has a cowlick, and I pointed out to dh that that was the only thing wrong with his hair. This turned into ds remarking that dh's hair wasn't perfect either, and he ended ... Thu, 5 Apr 2007 22:21:21 EST How are you planning on dealing with Easter I have been doing really well for about a month with my diet and have keep with in my calorie range everyday except one (eating out is so hard):). My problem is how am I going to deal with Easter. I have a large extending family that we will be celebrating with, and they all like to eat and have something to say if you don't eat.
I'm going to try and keep myself busy with the kids and the activities they have going on to keep away from the food, but would like some ideas from the othe... Thu, 5 Apr 2007 21:24:07 EST help i like to eat Uggh... the nutrition part is so hard. I'm a logical person and I know that I eat too much. But I love to eat. I like the overfull sensation I get when I eat too much. I had half a snicker's bar today because I love them. Ordinarily I would eat the whole thing. So I do have some willpower. I think my mind is psyching my stomach out. Causing it to think I'm always hungry. The afternoon is the hardest. between lunch and dinner. I want to eat everything in site. Instead of the snicker... Hello All Hello to all the other illustrious members of the April Class of Spark. Like many of us who have joined this week, I have also always struggled with my weight pretty much since birth. After losing 98 pounds two years ago (woohoo), I have managed to regain all but 18 pounds (crudmuckers!) Although WW was effective, I found it hard to maintain the motivation and weight loss and slowly started skipping meetings until I didn't even bother to think of going. I have seen the menu's that are posted where we track our food. Is it necessary to follow those to be succesful or is it possible to eat healthy with out a script for this to work as long as we stay within our recommended calories?
Also it it necessary to record spices? I sprinkled my talapia with Emerill's Essence today and was wondering if that was something that I needed to add? I've lost 10 of that, but I am hoping to get rid of the last 15-20 and get back down to where I am supposed to be! Anyways, great site!!! Tue, 3 Apr 2007 01:30:23 EST When do you think I should weigh myself? I don't have a scale at home, so I've informally weighed myself at work (there's a private spot with a scale), just from time to time. Problem is, I work really weird hours, so I'm never here on the same day at the same time. I'm thinking if I invest in a scale at home that I'll obsess about it, but should I? I want to keep track of things accurately, but I don't know that I can do it at work, because of my weird hours. I made my plans for yesterday and today mainly by using my own foods.
