Mon, 4 Nov 2013 20:07:49 EST 7 weeks and still craving! help! I don't understand why I am still craving a cigarette. It's been 7 weeks and sometimes I think I am going backwards. When will I stop thinking about it? Actually it's only been 52 days. Am I expecting too much of myself? Sometimes I feel like I am not trying hard enough. But then feel like I am doing great. But if I am doing so well why do I feel like a failure for thinking about it so much? I've had various stages, from social smoking (this was also a pack a day as I was always social), to smoking indoors, to whatever. I cut to half-a-pack a day when I moved in with my ex a few years back, though when I wasn't at home I would get erratic (smoking one pack or more).

Thing is, I've never wanted to quit. I know the experts say it takes multiple times to be successful for some people. I guess that's me. This time I'm quitting for MYSELF!!! Though we have separate goals, I am sure we can motivate each other and make each of us accountable.

I am a Psych Major at Post University after transferring from Kaplan. I find it challenging to exercise between school, work, and family. Not only that, but to actually eat healthier and get enough sleep. Most of the time it all comes together somehow...and there are sometimes when it all blows up. ... Sun, 5 Feb 2012 00:07:51 EST Hello All Hey fellow Spark People. Then at a very stressful period, was so silly to think that smoking might help me to be more calm D: . Some months later was smoking again. The last years I wante... My son has asthma and although I never smoked around him I'm sure it may have affected things. So for him and my own personal health I have decided after many years to quit. Sun, 8 Jan 2012 13:52:01 EST Tired of being the stinky one Hello Everyone! This is the first time that I have joined any type of forum/community that was geared towards stopping smoking. This year I turn 46 and Ive been smoking for 30 years. Luckily I have no others problems. My blood pressure is good...almost too low at times. My weight is a steady 150 but I want to get that down a bit. I eat very well and healthy....almost to a fault. I'm very active with my job...makes it easy to eat what I want....I work it off at work. Smoking has not become a p... Sat, 7 Jan 2012 01:18:19 EST Quit 'Cold Turkey'... Why didn't I do this before? Hello everyone!

Because of heart issues I am unable to use nicotine cessation aides such as Nicoderm, Chantix, not even the gums or lozenges... Basically, I was on my own with just the support of myself and my DH's nagging voice in the back of my mind.

For months I was trying to 'work my way down' to quitting. It, obviously, wasn't working since I never actually quit. In fact I started smoking more...

Finally, at approximately 11:30pm on December 31st, 2011, I... Fri, 6 Jan 2012 03:35:24 EST Another newbie trying to quit Hi Everyone
Congrats to you all for being here. A very smart and courageous thing to do.
I am using the patch, and altho it does help, my old friend Nasty Nic is calling my name.
I am new to SP and trying to maneuver around this site is as challenging. GEEZ Wed, 4 Jan 2012 12:46:36 EST Hi! Hi! My name is Courtney and I am new to spark people. Looking forward to my new journey. Tue, 3 Jan 2012 11:42:06 EST Waving joyfully goodbye to Hell Week. Well its day 8 and its 2012 and I'm not smoking...How great is that!!!

HeatherDawn Mon, 2 Jan 2012 10:57:23 EST Hi Hello everyone, I would like to wish everyone the best of luck with their goals, I am new to this and would very much love to make it stick. I no longer want to be the fat girl. Mon, 2 Jan 2012 07:01:19 EST I'm rather concerned I've been considering the idea of quitting smoking for a few weeks now. I've literally just voiced my desire to quit to my fiance, and in his desire to be supportive, has agreed to quit with me. I know though that after a day without nicotine I get tetchy and foul tempered. He's the type of person who takes things very personally. I'm worried that we'll start sniping at each other if we both go off nicotine, especially as I'll likely say something snarky, and he'll likely take it personally.... Mon, 2 Jan 2012 01:25:12 EST I'm new to this team I quit cold turkey the funny thing about it is that I haven't gotten the urge to grab a cig and smoke it...I guess what has helped me is that I'm keeping busy not thinking about it:) But I really like this team. I know that if I fall I can get lots of support here...But I don't want to fail at this have done it before. Had quit for 4 years, started a new job very stressful and I started again. Sun, 1 Jan 2012 23:55:02 EST im a newbie Hi i'm Rachel im new to this, this is my first day joining SparkPeople and im loving it! Sun, 1 Jan 2012 17:34:10 EST Calling all Newbies..... Hi Newbies: I'm a newbie, I'm only on day 6 and I have to admit tonight I'm struggling and wondering if you are too. thought maybe if there was a thread where we could kind of report to we could add each other as spark friends and kind of check up with each other or chat in this thread.
Would also love it if some that have made this journey and gone before us would also add there advise, encouragement and motivation. I just wanted to find out who it is that going through what I am r... Sat, 31 Dec 2011 17:05:43 EST Hi everyone! Im new to SP and browsing around. Its ironic that I came across this team since I started taking Chantix 4 days ago to help me stop smoking. And now that I have found you all, and with Chantix, the non smoking will be easier to handle.

Hope you all have a wonderful nicotine free day! Thu, 29 Dec 2011 21:14:30 EST Ready to put day 4 to bed....hurrah I'm doing better than I expected, just a few stray smoking thoughts here and there and when I get that squirrly feeling I just do some relaxation, deep breathing exercises or get up and go for a brisk walk for 10 minutes or so .

Feels so good to not be smoking, do not intend to ever look back.
Heather Thu, 29 Dec 2011 18:48:35 EST Ready to quit Im ready to quit but I dont know where to start... I have quit cold turkey before and would like to again but I let the stress of my Marine being in Afghanistan be an excuse to keep smoking.... Thu, 29 Dec 2011 17:03:16 EST Thinking about smoking I just realised something. When I was a smoker, I would think about cigarettes roughly 20 times a day. I would then go and smoke.

I'm a few days into my quit and today I thought about smoking 3 times. I resisted each time, but it's interesting how I'm already thinking about it much less than previously.

Anyone else noticed this? I'm quite pleased with myself today. Thu, 29 Dec 2011 15:05:57 EST Hi everyone! Hey everyone. I am a second time sparker, and this is going to be the successful time! I am quitting smoking on New Year's day (trite I know, but hey that's what resolutions are for). I have quit before for six months, but this is going to be my time to be successful forever. I am a 35 year old Florida girl, and I am so happy to be back on Spark.

Dawn Thu, 29 Dec 2011 14:19:38 EST Would it be possible.... to have a thread started where we could have say a cafe thread...a place where people could talk back and forth and post in an ongoing type discussion and get to know one another. Primarily about smoking, but also just about their lives and the struggles they may be having that
can impact their quit. I have found this so helpful and so uniting in the past.

Heather Mon, 26 Dec 2011 13:56:37 EST It's day One! Actually its day one yet again....but I'm choosing not to dwell on past failures as it undermines my confidence as far as I'm concerned its day one of a great new smoke free, healthier life.
2012 is gonna be smoke free for me. I also want to concentrate on healthy eating, getting my fitness level back which I've lost in the last six months and focusing on stress management. Its either that or find a different line of work.

I hope to be able to encourage others and find encou... Mon, 26 Dec 2011 12:40:00 EST I am finally back after falling off that wagon... I have two aunts battling cancer... I cannot continue to play with fire.

PLEASE HELP!

Thank you Tue, 20 Dec 2011 14:34:37 EST I'm a newbie! Howdy yall! I fell off the whole weight loss, exercise and quit smoking wagon back before summer started. But I am back again. Sun, 13 Nov 2011 13:24:51 EST How does one quit after 40 years of defiance? Hello,
I have been told I have COPD. Surprise, after 40 years of smoking and bronchitis which landed me in the hospital for 5 days. I truly enjoy smoking and I have turned to an e-cig to help, but if turmoil hits, I'm back on the smokes. While I was in the hospital, I think I have come to the conclusion of why I won't quit other than enjoying it but, when I was caught smoking in my room by my mother, she told me she'll make me quit -- she made me smoke a whole pack of cigarettes + sh...
