I recently had that moment where I realized I need to start taking my own advice. You see I happen to be a LPN and find myself shaking my head at some of my patients when they are noncompliant in their care and management of their diabetes reminding them of the dangers of high blood sugar levels and they don't seem to care or make the effort to improve their situation. That's when it hit me. I am a hypocrite. My o... Sat, 17 Feb 2018 23:49:40 EST Introduction Hi, my name is Lea. I’ve been struggling with my weight for many years now, so I’m looking forward to having support and help with this journey. One of my biggest struggles is that I’m not an athletic person in any way. I’d much rather do crafts or read and I’ve pretty much always been that way. I do like to ride my bicycle, but that is seasonal, especially since my asthma kicks up in extreme hot or cold weather. Thu, 15 Feb 2018 12:18:20 EST Great motivation from my Doctor. I saw my primary care doc today, we discussed the Spark Program for diabetes and weight loss, he liked what he saw, I'm about 70 pounds from my goal weight of 150, but he told me there is a good chance that when I hit my goal, I may be able to stop taking metformin. Another reason for me to do this!

I also started a program at the Y, designed for seniors, my first class was great, it is 3 times a week for 16 weeks. It is called Enhance Fitness. A combination of low impact aerobics,... Mon, 5 Feb 2018 18:31:21 EST Newbie Hi my name is Susan. Hello all, I'm about to be 50, gained 30 lbs in last 2.5 yrs, was just diagnosed with high cholesterol AND prediabetes - a HUGE wake-up call. So, here I am. One thing I've always lacked when dieting in the past was accountability, so hopefully this will be just what I need. And timing must be right (I pray) because I have passed up all sweets and desserts since my diagnosis 7 days ago! (It helped that I bought desserts I just don't like for Thanksgiving!)
