When we allow our fears to stay hidden, ruling our behaviors, thoughts and feelings from the shadows, we stay stuck. We each have our own version of fear. In fact, most of us have not just one, but several fears connected to our size and our style of eating. If we can identify the fear that blocks our path to healthy choices, we can respond in more ... Write down the reasons you ate without judgement toward yourself. Eat without guilt and move on. Thu, 6 Dec 2018 09:51:24 EST Discussion: Bringing Mindfulness to the table Pick one meal to be mindful of during today. Sit at the table with no distractions. No cell phone, tv, computer or book. Before you take a bite of your food, notice the colors and smells. After you take your first bite, notice the texture, flavor, and the thoughts that arise in your head. Chew slowly and notice how the food changes in texture and flavor. Notice when the food does not taste good anymore- this is may be an indicator that your body is satisfied. Think about it: where has your focus on weight loss gotten you to at this point in your life? What has it done to your body? Your mind? It’s not about your lack of willpower or about you being a failure. It’s the system of dieting that is the problem – diets are a set up for failure. Research shows that the act of dieting increases your risk of gaining weight. Remind yourself: if dieting is the problem, how can it be part of the solution? Reject the idea that th...
