Mon, 21 Oct 2019 12:37:13 EST I'm back on my Zantac daily I don't like taking acid reducers, but my reflux was getting so bad, I had to get back on my Zantac. I had weaned myself down from 300mg twice a day to 75mg as needed, so I didn't get a prescription. I bought the 150mg pills at WalMart for under $12, then cut them in half.

I've been doing this for a few weeks now, but I worry because I know you're not supposed to take it over 2 weeks at a time. It is helping though. My cough is getting better, but I still cough when I eat or drink... Some aren't so bad, just pop some Tums and keep on going, but some are downright scary painful! I woke up the other night feeling like I was having a heart attack! I've found that when this happens, it's usually because I've had a silent attack during the night and breathed it into my lungs. Yes, you can do that.

I find that drinking 8 ozs of water with a teaspoon of baking soda and sitting bolt-straight... Mon, 18 Mar 2019 09:44:02 EST Hey Spark People! Mon, 22 Oct 2018 12:05:29 EST Hi I have had an undiagnosed condition for about 8 years now, it came out of nowhere and i ended up in the hospital for a week when it first happened, they wouldn't let me leave. HELP Mon, 22 Jan 2018 09:20:57 EST How often do you see your gastro doctor? I'm sort of confused by my gastro doctor. I live in a small town, and the practice he's in is the only one other than the local hospital. I had my endoscopy on Dec.13, and he found Grade C esophagitis, gastritis & hiatal hernia, but he never set up a follow-up appt., or even explained to me what to do other than take the Zantac. I feel like the doctors there are just diagnosticians, not real doctors that treat people.

How often do you see your gastro doctor? I went to my Dr this week and he thinks I have acid reflux. He wants me to get have a scope down my throat. I had a really bad episode a couple days ago. Sat, 13 Jan 2018 23:33:01 EST Newbie Hi Everyone, I'm new to the team, and new to Barrett's Esophagus. I've been stuck in a dietary rut for a while, but I'm ready for a re-start. Tue, 9 Jan 2018 10:33:56 EST Reflux back Been off Omeprazole for a couple years, reflux has been back with me about 6 months. Have been keeping it tolerable with vinegar (with the mother) . Either make a “tea” with honey or drink it with water. Helps if I also keep the onions and peppers to a minimum. I’ve let my water drinking get a little lax too. Mon, 8 Jan 2018 23:56:32 EST Got all my tests results back - Good news! No H. Pylori - so glad because the treatment is hellish!
No gallstones - not even ONE
All digestive organs look normal save for a fatty liver, which the doctor's physician's assistant says means I need to lose weight (DUH!)

So if I get serious about losing weight, all that should be cleared up, and HOPEFULLY it will fix the reflux too. The first doctor I went to said my reflux was caused by my weight, but of course, I've been lazy and not serious about dieting. Now I will... Tue, 26 Dec 2017 21:39:26 EST Hi All Well, giving Spark People a try since I saw it was recommended for what I am going to be doing. Wed, 20 Dec 2017 19:34:23 EST Had my endoscopy yesterday - bad news I have Grade C esophagitis, gastritis and a hiatal hernia. I can't take PPIs because of my lupus, but he put me on 300mg of Zantac twice a day. He took biopsies, so I guess he'll call to make an appt. to discuss it further. He was very stern about me taking the pills, because he knows I hate them, but I'll do it.

He didn't say anything about diet, but I'm changing that on my own. I wrote a blog post about it if you want to know more about what I'm doing.

Also, if you ... Thu, 14 Dec 2017 12:14:09 EST What to tell the doctor? I have in the past three weeks been following a Ketogenic diet. I have already seen a reduction in my blood sugar, my cholesterol, and most wonderfully my food craves, ie. sugar. I am finding myself less and less hungry. That is quite a feat for a 27 year long diabetic. I am hoping to hook up with other Keto folks here on Spark People. Fri, 22 Sep 2017 20:30:28 EST hello, my name is anne with an E Hi, I am picking myself off the ground and getting healthy after getting some scary news from my doctor. I used to be very active and outdoorsy and ate mostly healthy. Then I put myself on the backburner while seeing to the needs of several special needs kids. I look forward to comment on my journey, as well as hearing from all you that are just starting the program, or have success stories. Good luck to all and have a wonderful day Wed, 2 Aug 2017 08:49:10 EST Low fat diet and serrapeptase are helping a lot! Since my gallstone attack that sent me to the ER, I've been on an extremely low fat diet. ER doc said "no fat," but then said 10g a day is o.k., so that's what I'm going by. Seems most of my reflux was caused by my inflamed gall bladder. Who knew?

I also started taking Serrapeptase again a few days ago, and between the two, I'm doing 90% better. I only have twinges here and there during the day if I eat/drink something acidic. I'm down from about 6-8 tums a day to sometimes none, ... My blood sugars forced me to wake up and decide to try to save my own life again. I cough a lot now and the doctor said it was GERD. It's pretty annoying. Changing my diet has helped a little but I could use more discipline in that area. LOL.
