(... and not that it matters right now, but also MLB and CBS Sports) They are also supposed to be getting even more channels soon and I think they are the only ones with unlimited DVR capacity (but there is a limit on how long you can keep them?) I was trying to think of something fun and new to focus on, and came across this topic.

My new “skill” — I downloaded the Fender guitar app and am once again learning to play my guitar. Fender made this free for the first 3 months. I’m trying to take 10 minutes each day to do some learning.

There is also a contest Fender is running that if you do practice just 7 minutes each day with the app you are entered to win a Fender Strat. I would LOVE to own one! Sun, 19 Apr 2020 08:23:53 EST Overcoming Weight Loss & Fitness Challenges: 2020 I have been hovering in around the 278 range for months. Though I am down 55 lbs from my high, it has taken decades to get here. It has always been a loss. I don't return to a higher weight (within 5 to 7 lbs). So I am quite complacent. Yet I know that an additional 45 lb weight loss would be good for my heart, my diabetes and my energy level.

Exercise has taken a stall due to angina incidents. However, as the new month approaches, I will be participating in a program (ECP) that re... Mon, 30 Dec 2019 00:57:16 EST 2020 Goals! OK it’s that time gents! Over the years, I have had points where I really wondered if just accumulating points and having a few virtual friendships was worth it. But lately, I see a gradual weight loss over years, an increased awareness of health oriented techniques from being on the site, and realize there can be a great deal of generosity and friendship through these words that we type in. I say, "Thanks to you all, and thanks to Spark for making it possible." This is actually a REAL gift to all of us. Sat, 16 Mar 2019 11:55:28 EST New to the team but not SP Hey guys happy new year. Name is Greg, I have been around here since 2008. I did really good for a long time, lost 50 pounds and kept it off. Somehow I found it again. The last 3 years I have been going to school to achieve a goal I set for myself a longtime ago, problem was during this time I let myself go physically while working all the mental muscle, now its time to get the physical back. The people with the best health outcomes are those who are involved in healthy relationships, don't work in jobs that stress them out, aren't overly financially stressed, etc. And, if you ask unhealthy people what is causing their bad health, invariably t... I did this by running and jogging part of my walk. That got my rate up quite well. My reward is that it felt really good. Sun, 11 Sep 2016 07:03:57 EST How do you like retirement? I love it. I retired over six years ago. I don't have to be involved in all kinds of things. I take care of my wife at times (She is severely disabled with a neuromuscular disease.) Maybe retirement is helped by the fact that I am in love with my wife and companion. But this is really great being me with myself most of the time. I generally don't get bored. I would highly recommend retirement, especially for introverts (Like me). Tue, 28 Oct 2014 11:30:56 EST October 2014 Challenge Hey gents, we've not done a challenge in quite some time, and my brain came up with a good one for this month: pick at least one thing you want to improve on, and use the next 31 days to improve upon it. My Doctor asked me if I wanted to stick around a few more years and that the key to this was loosing the weight that I had put back on.
I recently got active again in the job coming from a desk job of over 5 years. Sun, 30 Mar 2014 05:17:20 EST Eating Before Working Out in the Early AM, Or Not? Hello.

I have a question, really aimed at the subset of you who (1) seek to lose weight and not just maintain; and (2) work out in the early AM before work.

Here it is: do you eat first? If so, what do you eat and what do you not eat? Oh, and while we are at it, how do you know what you are doing is optimal?

Many thanks! Tue, 25 Mar 2014 20:35:06 EST I'm back! Sat, 8 Mar 2014 09:49:00 EST Good Belly Challenge Has anyone been doing the Good Belly Challenge? I just caught that on the Sparkpoints page. As a microbiologist I had to check it out. The steps are reasonable and there's good information there even though it is centered around a commercial product. I'm a big proponent of probiotic foods but, just like vitamins, I prefer to get my probiotics naturally through yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, etc. If you haven't checked it out, I would recommend taking a look! Sat, 25 Jan 2014 11:38:01 EST Hey Guys ! Hey Guys just checking in, I worked out yesterday, I did a full body workout on the gym equipment. Sun, 29 Dec 2013 18:20:34 EST 2014 Goals Hello gents, good time to start posting your 2014 goals. I have a few jotted down and will try to get mine out there this weekend, but if you have yours ready start posting! Thu, 26 Dec 2013 17:05:18 EST just found you guys I have used SP very loosely for the last two years, but I need to have both knees replace but need to lose 100 lbs before they will do it. So I'm making a concerted effort to do all I can to get the weight off. And I am finding great support here, so I figured I would join this team.
Tue, 10 Dec 2013 22:47:48 EST just found you guys I have used SP very loosely for the last two years, but I need to have both knees replace but need to lose 100 lbs before they will do it. Most meats, fish and poultry will lose some water and fat content in the process of cooking.

Intuitively, I would expect that the calories would be based on the weight of the uncooked food.

Thanks for your thoughts. <BR... That's insane ! Mon, 28 Oct 2013 19:51:31 EST Amount of time spent on Sparkpeople I am curious about the amount of time that others are spending on Sparkpeople. This was prompted by listening to a Spark Radio session where the interviewee mentioned she was logging on to Sparkpeople multiple times a day for the community support.

Then, in the "Best of Spark People" email this morning, there was a message at the bottom of the email:

SparkPeople's Coach Tanya says:
Pursuing your health and fitness should be in balance with time spent in other areas... Tue, 10 Sep 2013 12:24:01 EST Weekend Plans? I'm feeling behind on many things. Work is rather crazy as I have several projects that need to be done by Oct 4th in time for Homecoming Weekend. And money is always tight for a single dad (can't stand late notices) so I do work on the side for clients. Seems like there isn't much time to do housework or yardwork or something I'd really rather do.

BUT.... it's supposed to be a nice weekend so, I'm rolling with it. House cleaning tomorrow, maybe get a run in (*gasp*), pay the bills... Fri, 6 Sep 2013 20:14:37 EST September 2013 Goals? So.... I hope you don't mind that I started this thread. I'm anxious to get the ball rolling.

Diet: I'm back in a routine and it's seems to be working even when I travel. Which is nice - so this will stay the same. I'm hoping to break the 190 mark in the next few weeks at most. So, anybody out there reading, or have read this book?

My cousin read it and was so impressed she bought it for all four of her adult kids and convinced my sister to read it. She read it and convinced me to read it. I'm just on chapter three but it's very readable and its basic message is very SparkPeople-compatible. Mon, 19 Aug 2013 12:09:43 EST Guilty Pleasures? OK guys, let's keep this one clean, but I thought it would be fun to let a cat or two out of the bag about ourselves, something that might surprise the rest of us.

OK, so for me, as many of your know, I've really become vigilant about what I eat and drink, how I exercise, etc., and it has paid off! But there are still a few things I indulge in now and then -- the biggie being potato chips! "Back in the day" (don't you love that saying!), I could knock down a whole bag of chips ... Give me a huge hunk of meat and some bread and potatoes and I'm happy. However, over the past three weeks I have completely given up sugar and have discovered how delicious fruit is, and how tasty fresh vegetables are to me. I now usually have at least one green salad everyday, compared to maybe once a month in my former life. I actually like salad, which is so weird to my mind!
Anyway, I sometimes put a little Italian dr... Sat, 27 Jul 2013 15:32:44 EST Here I Am Hi...My name is Mike. After Healthierken suggested to me that the "Superhero Challenge" be a reality and I jumped on board, I began to start gearing up to begin an exercise program. So you can imagine my shock when I watched the news today and found out that too much exercise can hurt you!

Of course being a not so avid exerciser, this was almost "good" news for me--but not for guys who do marathons and such or even regular guys who go the gym and exercise for an hour and a half. After the vide... Wed, 7 Nov 2012 14:10:38 EST SUPERHERO CHALLENGE 2013! Recently I was chatting with Healthierken about how I wish I could get in shape and fit into one of those body hugging superhero costumes (such as Spiderman) by next Halloween, and he suggested we should make that a group challenge---so here it is! Will you join us in this venture?

All that is needed is the desire to spend this whole year working toward getting that superhero body you've been wanting. Wed, 24 Oct 2012 08:50:43 EST Pick Your Poison - Diet and Exercise Advice An article I just read on Spark

_articles.asp?id=847
talks about how to "burn fat." It comes to five great conclusions, but gets lost in the weeds of moment to moment metabolism. By its very nature the article seems aimed at folks who want to do something to make fat go away.
