I worked the past few days, so I am happy to have some time off now until Wed! Sunday was my rest day for exercise (since I was on call for 16 hours). I rode my exercise bike on Mon and Tues. I was at a youth conference with my daughter and the youth group. I squatted down to pick up a piece of paper, and when I did, I felt the muscle in the top of my thigh "pop". It honestly felt like the muscle just ripped open. Talk about excruciating pain. So now, I'm trying to figure out what kind of exercises I can do to rehab it, once it starts to heal, but also what kind of exercises to do in the meantime that don't involve my legs. Any ... Sat, 23 Feb 2013 23:01:03 EST Small success So, yesterday I posted a blog about recommitting and getting back on track. Tuesdays are always tough for me because my girls have dance lessons and they usually have snacks in between classes during their breaks. There were also some peppermint candies in the van that I thought about eating, but I reminded myself that they’re nothing more than sugar, and ... Wed, 20 Feb 2013 09:10:05 EST Week 7 Check In! Sat, 9 Feb 2013 19:57:30 EST What do you eat on an average day? I'm looking for some ways to change up my food intake. I need some ideas. I thought I'd create a post here so we can all share what we typically eat in a day, at least on an average day.

For me, when I'm at work, my food intake is much healthier than a day when I'm at home. I carefully plan out what I'm taking with me for the day and I stick to it because I don't have other options around. When I'm home, I am more apt to give in to temptation. I'm a over 40 mom to 2 girls (8 & 4). I lost my "baby weight" from the first girl with Weight Watchers with ease, but the last 20 with the second girl just hasn't left me. I've lost and gained 7-8 pounds for the last year and am quite frustrated, could be the whole changing metabolism thing, who knows.

I know I need accountability to make my goals work and have been lurking on Peak 313 for a while. Today I'm taking the leap. I'm focusing more on the wokouts and l... Thu, 24 Jan 2013 13:47:29 EST Jessica Smith ebook Here's a ebook from Jessica Smith. I love her DVDs! So, my hubby and I have been invited to a fancy schmancy wedding in February. It's actually on February 17th (a Sunday) evening. The wedding invite was pretty clear in that it didn't include kiddos, so we'll be finding a sitter for our 4 girls. The wedding invite also said, "Formal attire requested". So, my question is how fancy do I need to get dressed up? I'm definitely going to have to go shopping because I only have 2 dresses in my closet and they are spring/summer dresses, plus they... I "fell off the health and fitness wagon" back in October, gained back a good chunk of weight I had lost, and became pretty sedentary. So, here I am, beginning again! I'm heading back to my local fitness center today to work-out. I'm also brand new to SparkPeople. I look forward to using my SparkPage and the TeamPage to help me track my progress. I'm a book reader and saw the thread about books... Fri, 11 Jan 2013 15:38:36 EST Mentioned in Peak313's email Do you all receive the email from Clare over at Peak 313? Sat, 5 Jan 2013 15:33:35 EST 2013 Bible reading plan So I would love you ladies input on something. Our church has this plan where we read the Bible in entirety each year. I have done this for the last couple years but I'm thinking about switching it up. Last night I read something by John McArthur which said to really absorb the Word, read the same 5 to 7 chapters every day for a month. The example was that he read 1 John everyday for a month. And with longer books, like Acts, read chapters 1 thru 7 every day for a month. Then the following mo... Sat, 5 Jan 2013 14:19:02 EST How's your week going? Hi ladies! We're half way through our week, just checking to see how everyone is doing! Are you getting your daily reading done? How are your workouts going? Have you started reading any good books lately? Praying that everyone is having a fantastic start to your New Year! Wed, 2 Jan 2013 13:06:26 EST Logging food How's everyone doing with logging their daily intake? What method are you using? I believe that all methods will work if you find the one that WORKS FOR YOU! In the past, I had done well with just using a plain notebook. It had 2 different sections, so I'd use one for daily food, and other section was for all my workouts. After that I had switched to using Weight Watchers, which started out on paper but then they progressed to computer and then the phone apps. I have used Sparkpeople to... Hi ladies,
Since one of our challenge goals is to read at least 1 book a month, I thought we could start a thread recommending good books that we have read or are reading now. Thu, 27 Sep 2012 11:34:25 EST Praise Report!!! So last week I had a sob post about how hard things had been. This week has already been MUCH better! Thank you all for letting me 'get it out'. I don't know anybody (besides those of you I've met on the Internet) that have the same struggles, so there's nobody around to vent to. That being said, thank you so much for listening and I do have an awesome praise! MY WEDDING RINGS FIT AGAIN! I haven't been able to wear them in probably four or five years. It's so nice to have them back on my hand... Tue, 25 Sep 2012 14:59:40 EST "8 Weeks till Thanksgiving" Weight Watcher Article This article came in my email today from Weight Watchers called "8 Weeks till Thanksgiving." Donate what you can or at the very least, move your healthy items to the front so they’ll be the first thing you see when you’re looki... Mon, 24 Sep 2012 14:37:04 EST Week 3 Scripture! 1 John 2:16
For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does- comes not from the Father but from the world.

Such a great reminder! Take charge of your cravings! Give it to God, and He will help you. Made to Crave by Lysa TerKeurst is an excellent resource to help anyone who is struggling with this area! Mon, 24 Sep 2012 09:47:27 EST Article about being "hooked on junk food" I found this article on FB today about why we are hooked on "junk food" and steps to break the habit! Here it is:

Why we're hooked on garbage
It's safe to say that junk food addiction is a very real thing. The first place to look for proof is the ever-mounting pile of scientific evidence, including a recent study out of Sweden showing that the hormone ghrelin, which activates the brain's reward system and increases appetite, reacts similarly to sugar and alcohol.

T... Sun, 23 Sep 2012 08:19:59 EST Starting a new challenge after this one's over I can't find the original post where this was discussed but I love the idea. I had an idea for the scripture memorization. I have the Navigators Topical memory System. It has you memorize two verses per week on the topic in the series and it follows a this sequence:
Series A: Live the New Life
Christ the Center
Obedience to Christ
God's Word
Prayer
Fellowship
Witnessing
Series B: Proclaim Christ
Has 6 more topics (don't feel like typing it all out... Sat, 22 Sep 2012 21:56:58 EST What's your biggest challenge so far? What is your biggest challenge so far? Thought it might help to just "put it out there" so that we can encourage each other and keep motivating each other!

Mine: I do GREAT with my workouts and having memorized the verses. Mine is eating. I do eat pretty healthy, but I'd like to get rid of some of the processed foods in my diet. I plan out our meals for the week, but need to focus on planning my lunches as well. I used to just buy the Lean Cuisine or Weight Watcher frozen din... Fri, 21 Sep 2012 15:56:31 EST Spark Recipes I was wondering if any of you use Spark recipes and if you've had much luck? I've tried maybe 4 or 5 and none of them turned out too well. Now I'll admit I'm not the world's best cook but I would love to give it another shot 4 Thu, 20 Sep 2012 14:11:09 EST Give a Shout Out!!! How was your workout today?? Here's a post that Clare had on her FB today. It was such a great reminder. We can't expect our cars to go forever just on fumes, likewise we can't expect our souls to go on forever if we're not refueling daily with God's Word and time with Him!

"This week, we are focusing on being DAILY DEDICATED.

Have you committed your day to God? Don't try to go in the reserves from yesterday or last week. You have new grace and strength for TODAY. He has EVERYTHING you... Wed, 19 Sep 2012 11:59:05 EST Keep it up! I just wanted to tell you all that I am so proud of you! This group is such a wonderful group of women. I think about all of you whenever temptation hits and I want "junk food." Thanks for the support. We can do it! Tue, 18 Sep 2012 09:47:44 EST Clare's post: Where realization meets inspiration Clare posted this on FB today and it was really good, and so true! Wanted to share it here for those who haven't seen it yet:

When Realization Meets Inspiration

♦ I’m going to run a 5K!
♦ No more sweets for me!
♦ Our new budget is going to give us financial freedom!
♦ I’ve got a new attitude on our failing marriage!
We all get inspired. Tue, 18 Sep 2012 09:40:13 EST Clare's checkpoint- week 1 Clare posted the first week's check point on her Facebook site (I'm sure it's on her blog as well). To be eligible for her prize package, you must check in on her checkpoint WEEKLY! Workout 4 times a week for at least 25 minutes each time and memorize the Bible verse for that week. If you have a blog you can post the link on her site, but it's not a requirement to have one. (Although they are fun to have on Sparkpeople, helps us to "get to know you better"). Sun, 16 Sep 2012 20:31:14 EST Week 2 Verse Matthew 6:34
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

This is such a great reminder for me- I have a tendency to worry about a lot of things! My mom used to call me a "worry wart" when I was younger. I have to keep reminding myself to give it to God and let Him handle my battles. He's shown me that I need to trust Him more. Sun, 16 Sep 2012 20:27:41 EST Sweet Tooth I suffer from a chronic sweet tooth. I wish it was a legitimate thing with a cure, but alas, it is not. So I suffer daily. I've stopped drinking my diet sodas and sweet tea and that has helped the craving dramatically! But sometimes I still get that rotten feeling and I go nuts wanting something sweet and sugary. What's a way you combat it? Or what's a good treat to help push that craving down? Sun, 16 Sep 2012 19:32:18 EST tips for muscle recovery? Wednesday I could not move my upper body without feeling every bit of it (Tuesdays workout was mostly abs with weights). Today I can barely make it up and down the stairs, my quads are killing me. I'm very happy to know I have these muscles buried inside me and they are being used but are there any tips on what I should do or not do to recover? I do not plan to work out this weekend (M, T, W, F are my days) but should I go for a walk to keep stretching them, soak in the tub with epsom salts o... Sat, 15 Sep 2012 19:05:08 EST Almost a disastrous day, calorie-wise I've had leftover cookies laying around the house from my daughter's birthday treats and I have eaten 4 of them. Ugh! I had already plugged in my food from breakfast & lunch, so I plugged in the cookies to see what kind of damage I'd done. Surprisingly, I still have nearly 500 calories to get me through dinner. At least I know I haven't totally blown it today. Sat, 15 Sep 2012 17:15:15 EST The weekends are hard I've been so motivated and doing so good this week, both physically and spiritually. But the weekends always throw me. It's easy through the week, our time is so structured and the routines fit so much better. On the weekends it's hard to find that alloted time slot for my QT and exercising, and much harder to eat better. What helps you get through the weekends with all your goals more or less in tact? Especially your shape.

So you write a long list, and you make a pact with yourself that tomorrow you'll start a new whiz-bang weight-loss and life-changing plan. Sun, 9 Sep 2012 13:32:50 EST "Transform your bad habits" Here's another good Weight Watchers article I found today about transforming your bad habits:

Let’s face it — even bad habits fill a need: nail biting relieves stress and constantly checking email helps you avoid working. That’s why they can be so hard to shake. We’ve got a better idea: Rehab your habit by making small, simple changes that can add up to big improvements in your routine.

Rome wasn't built in a day, and similarly, saying goodbye to a habit won’t happen ove...
