I had lost 30 pounds last year, but had a minor surgery in Oct. and gained 11 pounds back before I got back on track. We had a train derailed early this morning, and that is how I kinda felt "derailed" after my surgery, but as of Monday I feel more determined!! Thu, 2 Jul 2015 20:46:12 EST A Reintroduction Hi, I'm Suzanne. I live in Bristol. I've been a member of SparkPeople since 2006 and a member of this team almost as long. In the beginning, I was a regular user of the site, but well, life happened. I've come and gone quite a bit in the last few years. I'm back now, and I'm going to try to be more consistent with it this time. One change I'm making is being more active in my teams. Maybe that will encourage me to log on every day.
Have a terrific day!
41 Sun, 22 Feb 2015 12:53:43 EST New challenge We need to get this group active again. Lets think on a new challenge special for this up coming july. Maybe try to walk a certain number of miles or something like that. Come on east tennessee people, lets do this! Mon, 23 Jun 2014 07:13:40 EST here I go again but this time I will make it I have spent along time in and out of counseling. One thing that I have needed to work on is boundaries. As I have worked in these areas in my life, I came to understand that part of my problem much to my disappointment was my own lack of boundaries with myself.. As I have continued to work on these areas in my life. I came to understand until I face facts about why I have extra weight on and why I lose it and gain it back a dozen times. That I could never fully keep it off. so for two years ... Looking to gain some friends while loosing some weight. Feel free to stop by my page for more information about me and my goals......look forward to us encouraging each other!!! Sun, 27 Jan 2013 17:06:05 EST Fitness in an East Tennessee winter. Hi guys! I was sitting here debating my fitness program now that it's coming up on winter (maybe lol). I don't have a gym membership (hoping Santa will bring me one) so all of my exercise is at "home". I do a lot of hiking and walking because, let's face it, we live in the ultimate environment for it and it can be awesome cardio. I prefer to exercise outdoors and I know I CAN'T be the only one. So my question is this, what do you guys do during the winter months to stay active and working tow... Sun, 29 Jul 2012 19:05:21 EST Farewell Neighbors Hi team.
I took on this team as leader last August when sweet Ginger stepped down. I haven't been a very good leader. I've tried a couple different things to try to drum up participation and I just haven't been successful. So, I'm stepping down. I hope that one of you fine folks will rise up and take over this team and make it soar.
Good luck to all!
April (tastensee) Wed, 16 May 2012 09:52:28 EST The Battle of Maintenance OK, this is the first time in my life that I've managed to maintain a weight level for any length of time. In the past I have gone straight from losing to gaining it back. I made 150 pounds my danger mark. My weight varies greatly day to day (sometimes 3-4 pounds), so I don't get too upset when I weigh in a little high. My lowest is 143.5 and I make sure to weigh every day just to stay accountable. Well, this past week my weight kept creeping up. Saturday morning was 149.5. Sunday morn... Mon, 30 Apr 2012 13:56:01 EST An interesting breakfast I don't eat beef, pork or poultry and sometimes struggle with getting enough protein each day. The last two days I was low, so I decided to start today with a big protein breakfast. This was pretty good:
Sauteed 2 cups of sliced mushrooms in a dab of olive oil
As they cooked, I covered them with thyme
In a separate bowl I mixed two fresh eggs and two fresh egg whites
When the mushrooms were tender, I poured the eggs over them and crumbled up an ounce of reduced fat feta ... Alot of times it has stopped me from having... Mon, 29 Jan 2007 15:44:52 EST Welcome I just wanted to welcome STUMMYFLIES to your team. I am very happy you could join us. Mon, 13 Nov 2006 23:48:11 EST Christmas Challenge / Motivation In some of my other sparkteams, I am part of a challenge, and I've found that it really motivates me to exercise on days when I don't feel like doing my walk.

I started a challenge on the Knoxville Losers sparkteam, and I was wondering if folks here in the East TN. team might also like to join?

It's a challenge to walk 35 miles between now and Christmas. My reason for losing weight is not to be good looking or to dress nice or anything like that. My reason is that I am 38 years old with uncontrolled diabetes and severe sleep apnea -- and I have four children (12, 12, 9, and 5). I am scared to death of what will happen to them if I am not here.

I want to go fishing with my kids. I want to be at their graduations. I want to be at their weddings. I want to be there when their children are born. I want to sit and talk with them a... Fri, 10 Nov 2006 01:12:30 EST Biggest Loser... Yes, I watch Biggest Loser. I sit there and get all pumped up about how I'm going to start exercising like that. But I end up not doing it -- I don't know why.

Anyway, one of the more exciting things that happened on the show was that they brought back people who tried to get onto the show but got booted the first week. The two they brought back had lost MORE weight (higher percentage) than all of the people on "the ranch" -- but they did it all on their own through diet and exe... Fri, 10 Nov 2006 01:04:24 EST Hi everyone Well its pretty cool that everyone actually talks in this group. I have been in another group for about 3 months and I was the only one actually talk. I am just posting to solidfy my plans, and I'm curious about what other people do on the weekends to keep up the healthy lifestyle.

We're going to hike House Mountain tomorrow. We'll probably pack sandwiches and some dried fruit. We love to hike, and we're hoping the leaves will stay on for at least one more night.

We have some healthy meals planned. I've been seeing a TV advertisement for "salad spray". It's like salad dressing in a squirt bottle -- it's 1 calorie per "squirt".

Anybody try it yet? Thu, 26 Oct 2006 22:41:36 EST What is your fitness plan...if any? Just curious as to who works out and what you do.

Mine is varied although it is always home-based. Primarily I use exercise dvds. Walk-Away-the Pounds, the Biggest Loser exercise dvd with Bob, some Jane Fonda. I also have an elliptical which I struggle with, but try. When I first started exercising the beginning of the year I used my gazelle.

Jo Thu, 26 Oct 2006 12:51:48 EST Seeing us on the map... Hi All!

Hey, you should click on the "View Team Map" button on the main page of our East TN Team page. It's interesting to see the pattern along Highway 40. :)

For those of you who aren't allowing yourself to be seen on the map, you can change that by clicking the "SparkTeam Page" button, going down to "SparkTeam Personal Preferences", and checking the box that says "Show me on the Team Map."

(I think it's on this page:
Wed, 25 Oct 2006 00:45:06 EST Diet Soda in Cake Mix -- instead of eggs & oil! Mon, 23 Oct 2006 23:12:34 EST Healthy menu selections at local restaurants... Hi All,

I'm wondering if anybody has a good list of healthy eating selections at our "local" restaurants. Obviously going to Buddy's BBQ or something isn't going to be smart, but you can get a steak and lots of salad at places like Great American Steak Buffet or Golden Corral. Obviously the danger of the "buffet" might override the healthy choices, but it can be done.

I go to a place like Great American Steak Buffet and I get a big salad and a piece of steak.
