SparkPeople Fibro Warriors Team Messageboard Supporting one another as we learn how to deal with this condition and live our best life ever SparkPeople Fibro Warriors Team Messageboard Low magnesium? I have fibro and the gamut of metabolic disorders. I've been extra tired lately and ended up in the ER earlier this week with heart palpitations. Turns out I had low magnesium levels, low enough to need an IV drip before they let me go. I'm also borderline anemic, which is something I've had many, many times before.

It's so hard to do the right then when I hurt so much from more than one issue, am so tired all the time and have enough bowel troubles to be just as scared of eating a... Fri, 28 Aug 2020 13:06:27 EST How has changing your diet helped with fibro pain? I have found a program that I initially started for weight loss that includes meal replacement products. It's been great for weight loss, but it is the other stuff that really impressed me. My fibro pain subsided substantially within a few weeks of starting this program. I have more energy than I have had in many, many years. Brain fog has cleared. I read all the literature about fibro diets, tried keto, paleo, and any number of other programs. For the most part I did't have the energy or cle... I have been living with fibromyalgia for 20+ years. It can be a struggle...but for me, I stopped fighting it and work at living with it. I just turned 65yo and one of the things that I need to start doing for myself is to get moving. I have lost a great deal of body/core strength over the years due to inactivity. I also stopped taking medication (with Dr. approval) about 10 years ago. I was taking so much medication, with all kinds of side effect... I am trying to recover and get better for me. Thanks. Mon, 24 Dec 2018 20:36:46 EST Diagnosed Just Today Hi, I'm 28 and was diagnosed just today. Fri, 7 Dec 2018 21:33:40 EST Struggling I have really been struggling over the past week with depression and have not been able to sleep well every night due to a bad fibromyalgia flare, which then throws the whole next day off kilter. I know I need to get back on track because I am starting to gain back some of the weight that I worked so hard to lose. I know I need to stay away from sugar and excess carbs, which just makes the whole pain and sleep cycle worse, but I also tend to gravitatate towards those things when I am in pain ... Fri, 16 Nov 2018 00:33:36 EST New treatment plan - your thoughts? I went to a new pain clinic doctor, who actually seems knowledgeable about fibromyalgia! The tooth was fine, but the dentist had to smooth out a sharp edge and did not numb me. Mon, 22 May 2017 09:43:02 EST Hello. I was officially diagnosed 6 months ago. However, I have had these symptoms for 17 years and they jumped to significantly worse in 2012. It took me a while to find a doctor that would listen to me and not accuse me of faking pain for medication. I currently take a low dose antidepressant (supposedly it helps with pain and not depression at a low dose) and an incredibly high dose of Vitamin D. I have not been prescribed muscle relaxers or pain pills yet, as the doctor and I feel that exercise ... Tue, 18 Apr 2017 14:16:40 EST HELP ... SHARP SHOOTING PAINS Help please !!! I added a little strength training (like 10 min) two days ago (a six minute upper body video from sp, and I think three min of abs with little dumbells from sp), and now I'm exhausted and in pain. I guess I need to add strength training even more slowly. Any advice? I want to get better, get fit, but it... Mon, 27 Apr 2015 19:20:54 EST treatment plan for me I don't know what i am going to do. I am so tired. I barely make it through the day. i get in my car, i stop by the store and pick up something to make for dinner and drive home. make dinner and colapse in a chair and don't move until time for bed. Recently my doctor said he thought it was Fibro. I started reading and researching it and the symptoms described how I have been feeling. I hope to be able to learn more on here and to be able to help you all if I can. Sat, 28 Feb 2015 21:50:42 EST Funnies Did you know that SparkPeople devotes a whole site to funnies about losing weight and maintaining health? I just found it and here's the link to it. Sat, 14 Feb 2015 03:43:56 EST New from Illinois Hello--

I was diagnosed with Fibro in June 2010. I am still struggling to get a handle on it.
My page goes into more detail. I hated the doc who diagnosed me and since moving(we moved in nov14) I am hoping to find a doctor with more knowledge, and a better bedside manner.

IT was through trial and error that I discovered carbohydrates cause inflammation which makes my fibro worse. So I generally stick to 100-120g carbs or less. I have also found some great stretch... Hello my name is Debra I have decided not to give up on my goal to change my life for the better .I lost a great amount of weight and then I was just stuck because I couldn't loose any more. Sat, 6 Dec 2014 08:33:12 EST New Year's Resolutions I know we're not supposed to make New Year's resolutions because most of them are broken by Valentine's Day, but let's try.

Think seriously about what you'd like to do, that you have control over and that will be fairly easy to accomplish. Sun, 16 Nov 2014 18:48:07 EST Laurie's Introduction Hi there--I'm glad I found a fibro board here. I've been living with fibromyalgia for the past 15 years, and I've got to say, it just never gets better. I am one of the lucky ones in that I was able to retire early (best husband in the world!), which has helped immensely.

With all the medication I'm on (fibro, migraines, IBS, etc.), it seems they all have "weight gain" as a side affect. Go figure. When I was in school, I never struggled with my weight, although I always thoug... Tue, 7 Oct 2014 00:02:25 EST Elise's Introduction I am restarting to lose weight but I am doing it differently this time. It is hard to lose weight but with the right mindset and the right support you can go far. One thing I realized for myself I cannot just have the mindset of I need to lose weight. I have to have the mindset that I HAVE TO LOSE the weight and not just for my health but for ME. I never thought of myself as a food addict because I only ate emotionally one time. But when I realized how I eat; I realized I
am a food addi... Sun, 5 Oct 2014 18:07:00 EST New and don't know if I have fibromyalgia or what? I just turned 46 and have been bothered with some very "odd symptoms" since Jan of 2013. It started with itching in my scalp and face. My doctor immediately checked liver and kidney function. About a week after this, I started getting zapping sensations that jumped around my upper torso, mainly on my arms and even my knuckles.
In March, I started getting extreme burning pain in the muscles of my back.
In June, an enlarged axillary node was found after a routine mammogram. That's whe... Sun, 21 Sep 2014 22:17:08 EST New to the team! Hi! I'm new to the team. I have fibromyalgia (obviously lol), ELS, chronic migraines, bipolar, anxiety/panic attacks.. I saw this team and was so happy to discover it! My fibromyalgia is not being treated right now because my doctors are afraid of the possible interactions with my psychiatric meds. I go to see my pdoc next week and with her approval I can get started on meds to deal with this. HOORAY! I do have voltaren gel but it doesn't help much. I'm just looking for friends who understan... Thu, 18 Sep 2014 09:48:58 EST So proud of myself Last night we took the kids to an Astros game, we were invited by the March of Dimes for participating in the March for Babies walk in May. All the walking I did I so thought I was going to pay for it, not to mention I took my meds late and just knew I was going to oversleep as my body rejects anything under 6+ hours. However even walking over 12000 steps yesterday and not taking my meds until 11:30 and going to sleep at 1 I'm proud to say I woke up perfectly at 6:30 (only 30 mins late) and... Wed, 17 Sep 2014 10:28:47 EST Newbie hello all,
I'm new to the board, but I've had Fibromyalgia since 2012. At the time I didn't know I did while I was pregnant with my last child. Which made him be my last child because my body hurt in places I didn't think of on a regular basis. I couldn't walk, sleep, move and the fatigue was doubled. When the issues really didn't go away after having him I went to the doctor fearing a Lupus diagnosis based on family history and the symptoms mirroring each other.

It... Mon, 15 Sep 2014 23:33:36 EST Hi Hi. I am in need of motivation and support by those that understand what I'm going through, those that understand my fatigue, aches and pain. Sun, 10 Aug 2014 15:39:22 EST what would you do to fit fibromyalgia I realised that I felt better when in a warmer climate by the seaside, so I have moved over 1000 miles to a new country away from my family to live here.

Financially this is not easy and I really miss my husband who I love a lot but I am feeling better than i have done since I was first ill and I just wondered what other people have done or would be willing to do. Sun, 10 Aug 2014 06:52:46 EST Finally! I got my doctor's attention. I swear I have the lousiest doctor for someone with fibromyalgia. I had another doctor that was great and something happened and he suddenly left to work in another area. He is a fantastic doctor who actually cares. Anyway, they assigned another doctor for me and I've never liked her or felt she believed me. Right away she made it clear she didn't approve of the medications he had me on or how he had been treating me and she started changing everything. Anyw... I got there and they were going to charge me $18 for... Tue, 25 Jun 2013 14:34:02 EST I am new as of 06-25-13 I am 48 years old and a single mom of 2 daughters. Hi all! 213 My name is Sophie, I'm 27, I was diagnosed with Fibro in 1999 (13 years old) after close to 2 years of seeing doctors and specialists all over (and one quack, hehe). Finally was referred to a pediatric rheumatologist at Duke University Medical Center who made the diagnosis. Being young and having Fibromyalgia can be really frustrating, receiving any treatment to manage pain or even being taken seriously is something that really doesn't happen.

I don't have a... Tue, 11 Jun 2013 04:00:28 EST Hello to all I have been sick and in pain for 6 months now. I have been to 4 doctors, 2 ER visits, I had 2 CT scans, a colonoscopy, endoscopy, swallowed a camera, had a bizillion blood tests. They decided that I have gastropareisis which is a paralized stomach. It is caused by the vagus nerve being damaged. But we couldnt think how it could have been damaged. I agree with this diagnosis but there is some thing else wrong. I have a lot of pain in my left side. My last doctor said if Im not better in 2 mont... Mon, 3 Jun 2013 23:18:14 EST I'm new I've been on SP off and on for a year or so, but I'm new to this team. My name is Lissa, and I'm 39, married to my best friend, and mother of 4. I was diagnosed with fibro about 2 yrs ago. I had thought I'd had it for probably 5 yrs before that but had somebody tell me I didn't, because I was able to get out and do things. My fibromyalgia started in my neck and usually is worst there. I was reminded about pain from adjusting my neck yesterday while dealing with off kilter glasses (I broke them on the bridge and had to hold them together there with adhesive for a few hours til I could get to my spare ones). Instead of bifocals, I requested separate reading glasses. Can anyone tell me about any pr... Sun, 19 May 2013 01:15:42 EST Hey Ya'll I'm a Newbie Here! I was first diagnosed with fibromyalgia when I was 19, but back then nobody really understood it! I had some pain and muscle tension, but for the most part was able to deal with it. Then in 2005, I had a major flare. I woke up one morning and could barely move. I ended up having to quit my full-time job and was bounced around from doctor to doctor. Then we ended up moving and I found a fibro-friendly doctor who took the time to explain all aspects of fibro to me and would really listen to me!... Sat, 18 May 2013 16:35:32 EST Hello Hello, My name is Jennifer. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in October of 2012 after a more than 2 year search for an answer. I had many symptoms for a long time before that, but I believe my last pregnancy in 2006/07 and some major stress in my marriage brought on a significant flare in 2010. This is what launched the search for answers. I am coming off of a flare now after a 6 month period of improved symptoms. During that time I began to question my diagnosis. After reading over a... Wed, 15 May 2013 15:45:02 EST What do you do for pain? I'm curious to know what other people do for their pain...I take Lyrica (which does more for my mental and emotional wellbeing) and then either 6 aspirin or 6 ibuprofin in the morning, for the pain. Even then about half the time I can't function very well. In reading the article Spark had today I realized that maybe controlling my fibromyalgia will make me more active and not the other way around. If you're willing to share I'm willing to listen.......... Wed, 15 May 2013 12:11:43 EST Hello There My name is Shannon and I am 34 and have been suffering with Fibromyalgia for over 4 years now. I've actually been struggling with fatigue and pain for several years, but was able to manage the symptoms pretty well with healthy living. I even had a couple symptom free years. The last couple years I saw my flare ups happening with increased duration and frequency.

Fortunately, I found a fantastic rheumatologist (Dr. Michael Powell in Sacramento), who diagnosed me and has been educating me and treating me with a multifac... I just joined SparkPeople today in hopes of getting some motivation to lose this weight (which there is a lot of it). Not only am I battling the Fibromyalgia, but I also have PCOS which makes things even harder. I was just recently diagnosed, so I don't know to much about this condition. I just know that my symptoms are out of control, and this pain makes exercise next to impossible for me. Are there specific exercises out ther... Tue, 11 Sep 2012 02:30:51 EST Cymbalta & Hair Loss Lyrica made my vision blurry. I don't mess with my eyesight so that med was out. Neurontin made my eye lids twich. Again, I don't mess with my eyes, so that med was out. Neither med really helped the pain anyway. I am having wonderful results with Cymbalta and needling therapy. I am even planning on gong back to horseback riding lessons this Friday after being out since April of 2012. However, I believe the Cymbalta is making my hair fall out. I don't know what to do. 24 ... Mon, 10 Sep 2012 13:39:38 EST Graceful Hello I am in the starting stages some days are ok and others are not. I have inherited arthritis, and rheumatism.
