The goal is to stay on track even on the weekends. It seems that is a time when some of us lose focus. So instead of playing catch up on Monday we are going to try this.

1. At least 30 minutes of cardio during the weekend.
2. Drink at least 8 glasses of water each weekend day.
3. Eat at least one fruit and one vegetable each weekend day.

Now I know we can do this. To committ t... Fri, 29 Sep 2006 14:19:41 EST Motivation Plus. I just bought myself a journal. Starting today l plan to record everything in it, including my fitness plan, my eating and drinking habits to my thoughts and feelings. I know by doing that it will help me achieve my goals. Another good thing about that is then l can look back and see how everything changes the closer l get to reaching my goal weight. Fri, 29 Sep 2006 01:08:56 EST Sleep...Are you getting enough? I just read an interesting article on sleep. It is clear on the fact that not getting enough sleep has poor effects on the body. All the working out and eating well is great, but if we are not allowing our bodies time to repair and rest we are doomed. So, the question is how much are you getting and is it enough?

Melinda Thu, 28 Sep 2006 10:44:38 EST Water...are you getting enough? I am getting in my 8-10 glasses a day, are you? The water intake part of fitness is the easiest part to me. However, everyone does not find it easy to drink that much water daily. So tell me how much you are drinking and is it a struggle?

Melinda Mon, 25 Sep 2006 11:45:27 EST Just Talk Today I was sitting here thinking I have to get off this plateau. So I sat down with pen and paper and wrote down everything that I wanted to change. Why and how.

So I reset my goals today to achive my life long goal. I have created more smaller goals and have set guide lines in which to keep. I have also increased my exercise to be able to burn up more calories.

Just wanted to speak about my goals to someone else so that they are out there and I won't be as willi... Sun, 24 Sep 2006 21:07:50 EST New I thought l'd join this team because l look at myself in the mirror everyday and realised that l need to get serious about my weight loss. Including the weight l lost before l joined Sparkpeople, l've lost about 6 kilos. I know that l can do this but l need the support of others to help me along the way. Sat, 23 Sep 2006 04:12:33 EST Rethinking my goals, should I? Okay ladies, I am not sure what to say here. I set my goal to loose 51lbs figuring according to BMI and such at 5'7 150lbs would be good for me. Then a few nights ago hubby asked me how much I weighed when we began dating 10 years ago. I thought about it and responded 165lbs. He told me that he thinks 150lbs may be a little too low and I would look really thin. I actually had a video of me at 135lbs and showed it to him. (lol) He is now convinced, (and I am half way there) that it may ... Thu, 14 Sep 2006 13:54:28 EST What are you eating? Okay ladies, time to ante up. What are you eating these days? Are you using the meal planner? What have you learned about your eating habits?

For myself I decided to really change the things I eat before starting SP. I now eat mostly whole grain products: rice, bread, pasta, flour, etc. I have been eating at least 2 fresh fruits and veggies per day and only lean beef, chicken or fish. When I decided to take control of my carb addiction I gave up all white products. That ... Thu, 7 Sep 2006 16:16:58 EST Challenge #1 (Weigh In) Okay ladies after reading over the board I think we will start with the weighing in once every 2 weeks. For me I will weigh in every other Friday. Since we had a holiday weekend and I relaxed more than exercised I think Friday is good.

Pick a day and let's try this. We are taking control of our scales!

Melinda 192 Tue, 5 Sep 2006 09:54:28 EST Icon - Model of You I get countless questions on creating the icon that is on my messages. Hello ladies,

What types of activities are you doing for cardio? How often and how long?

As for me, I am doing the treadmill, elliptical trainer and exercise videos on occassion. I try to do at least 45 minutes 6 days a week. Of all the cardio I favor the elliptical because it seems to burn the most calories per minute.

Melinda Fri, 1 Sep 2006 15:18:25 EST Step one: What is your biggest challenge? Okay ladies, down to business. I really need to know what are your biggest challenges? This will be an integral part of making meaningful challenges for us going forward.

For myself I have a few:
1. Not weighing myself excessively.
2. Being consistent on # of days I workout. (I burn my required calories but not necessarily in 6 days.)
3. Eating breakfast.

After I get some feedback challenges will begin. Small steps to achieve big things.

Ta... Thu, 31 Aug 2006 20:25:00 EST New to the Team!... .Welcome! Hello and welcome to the team. My name is Melinda and I have been with SP since 7/21/06.
