SparkPeople SP Class of May 3-9, 2009 Team Messageboard Starting my 90 Day Challenge with Body by Vi Ok my friends, I used this many years ago and it helped keep me accountable so I'm coming back. I am starting my 90 Day Challenge tomorrow. I need to stay strong, usually fall off the wagon and quit exercising so I need huge support. Let's do this thing. I just found out that I have a couple food sensitivities/allergies. I have a 25 year class reunion in the fall so I really need to get this done. I'm going to sell the product too so if anyone is interested in starting the challenge let ... Fri, 30 Apr 2010 00:05:34 EST Need to lose 15-19 lbs in 3 months Hi, I've just started a "biggest loser" weight loss challenge at work on April 1. I weighed in that day and then travelled out of town for the weekend for Easter to visit the in-laws. I totally blew my first 7 days, with eating out, eating lots of junk food, and no exercise...except for 2 hours in the mall...if that counts. LOL I only have (3) three months to become the biggest loser. Any pointers? I love my chocolate and am not fond of exercise, lack motivation...especially when its a d... Sat, 10 Apr 2010 22:58:11 EST starting again? I haven't been doing very well lately but I am going to try to get back on track with my goals. Anyone who has some pointers, let me know. thanks Mon, 5 Apr 2010 19:07:03 EST Hi I am new Hi I am fairly new here signed up last year but really haven't used spark people as the last 8 months have been really hard for me to focus on weight loss. Six months of packing and making arrangements to move to Phoenix Arizona. Then Driving across country to AZ. Unpacking and then trying to find a new job as I became unemployed after 13 years. I then had the financial difficulties that come with being unemployed. Now started a new job as a driver for Dominos pizza so this will start gettin... Wed, 3 Mar 2010 14:06:28 EST Excited to be a part of "Changing Lives" I have had my share of fad diets, and I'm trying to take a more serious mental approach t my health. I've read over the blogs, and posts' of everyone encouraging one another to just go for it and take one day @ a time. I spent the past two years at a local facility *(gym) who's motto was To Motivate & Educate the clients to a new life style. I was looking for them to keep me amped up, and when I didn't get that when I "needed it" the most, I fell short and let excuse after excuse get in th... Sun, 10 Jan 2010 19:20:11 EST Yoyo I'm tired of this yoyo dieting with little success. Having trouble getting/staying motivated. Need to lose 25 lbs. Does this site help? Fri, 8 Jan 2010 08:08:58 EST Trying again Since I joined back in May I have been reading many of the exercise articles, recipes and other things on SparkPeople. I struggle still. I need accountability. May this be the year I see success. I have two teens and a 21 yo. So I want to be a good example of healthy living. Fri, 1 Jan 2010 23:46:28 EST Finally introducing myself Hi, I'm Sallye. I've been a member of Sparkpeople for a while but I've not really buckled down and used it. One of my friends is having some great success here, which has motivated me to try again. Plus, this weight really needs to come off! My short term goal is to have the first 15 lbs off by Feb. 28. I've been a bellydancer for a looong time, but the past few years have been rough in terms of injuries that have slowed me down and helped the weight gain. I have been appalled to realiz... I found an existing challenge that is an official SP challenge led by Coach Jen

ndividual.asp?gid=35162
It is much better than anything I could post, so feel free to join that challenge and post any comments you want to share with our team on our Daily Check In thread.

Have a... Thu, 26 Nov 2009 09:00:33 EST Back on the wagon. Hi, I'm back! I started on SP last May and made good progress through July. Then my life got busier with our youngest going off to college in September and our daughter's wedding in October so I stopped tracking my intake. I maintained the loss for a while but began to slip, got nervous about it and now I'm admitting to myself that I MUST TRACK EVERY BIT OF FOOD I EAT EVERY DAY. It's too easy to cheat otherwise. Sigh. I'm thankful for this website, though, that makes it possible and is ... Sat, 14 Nov 2009 20:31:43 EST New girl on the block! Hi, I am pretty new to Sparkpeople. I actually signed up in May but never knew what to do. I have recently gotten back on and want to get serious. Unfornuately I dont really know how to use Sparkpeople. I have lost 30 lbs since January 2009 by excercising and eating right but I have gotten bored and Im stuck and need a push. I'm exciting about Sparkpeople and would like to have a buddy to keep me accountable! :) Sun, 8 Nov 2009 11:31:48 EST I'm just me I am looking for all the inspiration and help I can find to feel happy about the way I see myself. I do not like the way I have let myself go. I want to be more health concious and tone myself up. I already quit smoking almost 5 months ago which makes me proud and makes me believe that I can accomplish things I put my mind to. Any advise or support would be greatly appreciated. Wed, 16 Sep 2009 15:20:52 EST Overwhelmed and do not know where to start. Hello all! I am a 38 year old mother of a 3 year old and a 4 year old. I would like to lose 50-60 pounds. I have in the last 5 years been through a roller coaster of life changing events, all of which have contributed to my weight gain. I am finding it very hard to lose even a pound. I need input on how to get started and how to work around my job.
I work as a Correctional Officer in a state prison. We have a four day work week, we work four days on and four days off. Since one of our leaders has resigned and the other has been MIA, what do we want to do about our team leadership? I sent a message to SP support and received a reply suggesting the team decide. I am willing to be a co-leader and would want 2-3 other people to step up to the plate, too. That just one suggestion, and I'm sure all of you have ideas. I joined Sparkpeople back in May but I've been working towards this healthier lifestyle since March. I was going very strong in the beginning, exercising frequently, staying on course with my diet, even incorporating a treat by going out to eat every Wednesday night so I would not hit a wall.

For some reason though all my motivation has left me. I find every excuse not to go to the gym and then I don't. I cheat on my diet frequently. I ... Mon, 15 Jun 2009 13:43:01 EST no weight lost so far Well so far I haven't lost any weight. I've been doing well at exercising (strength and cardio). But I've not been doing well at eating. I do eat healthy foods (salad greens every day w/balsalmic & olive oil, whole grains, fruits & veggies) but I sometimes overeat the healthy things, and also give in to sweets several times per week.

So I try to analyze why. I really want to lose weight, but when the individual decisions present themselves, I find myself losing sight of the o... Go ahead and vent a tad (without vulgarities!)

My experience: My discouraging supporter is my cousin who was extremely overweight, and lost 85 lbs the fast way (liposuction) two years ago, has regained a good portion of it back. I was telling her about spark people, and my goal to loose weight. We started to reminisce about our skinny days, and she was quick to point out that I will never get that skinny... Sun, 31 May 2009 11:49:17 EST The importance of stretching out Hi my name is Jeanette Charpentier. I'm new! I want to share with everyone about stretching out your sciatica nerve before working out. I've had problems with my sciatica nerve for years and I've let it stop me from excercising it was my crutch. Well, that stopped the day I was taught how to stretch out before and after excercising. IT WORKED I'm still a little sore but that will go away as I strengthen that area. If you are anyone you know suffers with this problem talk to your local physica... It will be a year in June since I started my "new life plan". I love to eat so it's a day to day challenge to make myself aware of what I'm putting into my mouth. The only way I really can stay focused is to log my foods which motivates me to stay active. I love to log and plan to blog daily now that I think I have figured out who to get around. Looking forward to getting to know my fellow bloggers:) Mon, 11 May 2009 21:27:54 EST Somewhat Disappointing Start SparkPeople has really motivated me to get back in shape, and I couldn't wait to get back into my old exercise habits. So today when I finished my exams, I immediately switched into my exercise clothes and headed to the gym to use the treadmill. I was excited as I started to walking, but after just a couple of minutes the treadmill stopped and displayed the message "User not detected." I tried to resume the workout several times, but each time the treadmill would stop again after several seco... Mon, 11 May 2009 14:54:08 EST Good Morning from Oregon Hello fellow sparkteam mates! My name is Samantha and I am from Oregon. I am on a mission to get healthy! I have lost 40 pounds on my own and the last two months I sort of lost all motivation. Thankfully my workplace created a Wellness Program and that is how I found this site. It is so great! I am tracking my calories and fitness activity and I feel motivated again. My goal is to lose another 20 pounds before August. My long term goal is to lose another 80 pounds before March 1, 2010... Sun, 10 May 2009 11:45:29 EST Any Fellow Curves Members? Hi there!

I joined Curves this week, and my trainer there recommended this site - I LOVE IT!

She stated that she had heard that Curves workouts were available in the fitness tracker, but I've been unable to figure out how to record them since the workouts are interval resistance training and the tracker wants reps and minutes. I can't find matches for some of the Curves machines either.

Any suggestions? 24 Sat, 9 May 2009 00:24:00 EST Fun Fact! Did you know? A pound of fat is equal to the size of a grapefruit. A pound of muscle is equal to the size of a tangerine. THAT is the reason why we can workout really hard and do everything right and still not lose weight! We ARE losing weight, fat weight and replacing it with muscle weight. So, think of it this way...

If a woman is 150 pounds and is sedentary and has alot of fat compared to her muscle ratio, she will be two thirds bigger than a 150 pound woman who is leading a healthy lifes... So, I looked it up online, and it seemed like it would have around 200 calories for the whole bar. Well, it was wrong, because after we ate the bar,(I shared) I looked at the calories to double check, and it was 500 calories for the bar!!!!
