I've been geocaching casually for a few years now (casually because I've been doing it for like 4 years and only have around 80 finds!). It is something that I really enjoy but I know that my lack of physical fitness really does limit what caches I can get to, which is really frustrating!

In particular, I like in Southwest Florida and there is a string of geocaches in a state park not to far from me that you rea... Sun, 23 Sep 2012 22:01:38 EST New Hampshire Geocacher Hi there! I'm new to geocaching, not new to SparkPeople. I just started doing the geocaching last week. I love it! My five year old son is coming with me for some of them. It seems there are about 20-30 of them in the area - like within 5 miles and another 20 or more within the 5-10 miles surrounding the central area. I already want to hide some more in one of the nearby parks, but I see I have to get permission from the park management and maybe that is why there aren't any in this park.. Yesterday our geocaching trip was halted by a boy running a red light and ramming his car into our car/van. We had great plans to do a family geocaching expedition with my son, DIL, and 5 of my grandchildren when we got in this accident. Sun, 10 Jun 2012 09:25:18 EST Do you geocache no matter what the weather? My family had planned a fairly easy day of geocaching at a nature park but it is drizzling rain and thundering out. Part of me wants to go anyway. Another part of me just wants to say forget it and go shopping instead. My question to all of you is do you let the rain interfere with your geocaching plans? Sat, 26 May 2012 10:35:39 EST Having fun with geocaching I tried this several years ago and enjoyed it. This year my son and I decided to make this a weekly family outing. Sunday we took 3 of my grandsons ages 3, 3, and 6 and hiked a total of 2.4 miles! I can't believe the kids could do that but they love it. On one trail we climbed and decended so many hills I actually amazed myself that I was able to do it. I certainly know that 60 pounds ago I would have turned back and waited in the car!

I'm looking forward to getting to know my fel... FUN! My husband and I took some time to go and find a few caches while we were in Gettysburg last week for a marathon. We went for 8 but only found seven as we didn't read the comments for the 8th one, sure enough it had disappeared. . . Mon, 9 May 2011 19:36:39 EST 7 in 1 Day. FUN! So my DH and I were volunteering to help at a marathon and we had a few hours to kill and we were also over an hour from home so we decided to do some caching. Got 7, couldn't find #8 (but neither could the last three people)

It was FUN! Too bad we didn't think of it before and we left the GPS at home so we were using my iPhone and my battery power was just sucked up by caching so we had to call it a day. Still rocked though! I planted a cache at an old cemetery and someone found it earlier this month and this is what they wrote:

Very disturbing. As we were coming down the road we were greeted by numerous police vehicles and news crew vehicles fom Toronto and Hamilton parked along both sides of the road. Police crime scene tape stretched all the way to the edge of the cemetery. It was obvious that something horrific had occurred here. Thankfully, the cache was hidden well down the road on the other edge... Wed, 19 Jan 2011 21:12:12 EST Ways to be discreet when muggles abound? Ok. I finally solved a tough puzzle cache. From the hints I knew exactly where it was and sure enough i got there and the coordinates led me to right where I expected it to be. Big's a well lit area between 2 restaurants. People had trouble enough before this but now the new place opened and it's 24 hrs. ACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any suggestions?
I wonder if daylight is actually better in this case? My husband and I got out this weekend for our first ever cache run. Addicting! We found 5 caches and had to dig through snowbanks for a couple of them. We think we did pretty well for first timers. Can't wait til the weather is nicer and the snow melts so we can get out and do more. I was born and grew up in this area and never knew that some of these things existed. Is there a way to move it?

Before I leave Colorado I'd like to have a 100 cache day. I know from other places that I have lived, Florida, for example, that there are places, like one neighborhood in Jax, where a 100 cache day (or urban caches) is not only possible, it is easy and the caches are still spaced properly. One would think Colorado is too spacious to do this, but there are places like Denver where there are urban caches. Does anyone know of a... Mon, 15 Feb 2010 15:54:35 EST How many caches as now??? They are my least favorite type of caches.
