SparkPeople Sparks for Persons with Crohns and Colitis! Team Messageboard We are here to encourage those with Crohn's & colitis:motivating each other to better health, supporting & equipping from our own journeys & determining not to be defined by the diseases we endure! SparkPeople Sparks for Persons with Crohns and Colitis! Team Messageboard New to this Team Hi. My name is Cricket, I have had stomach issues for as long as I can remember. I had a colonoscopy last summer after some stomach pain and the doctors want to do a Ileocectomy to remove the narrowing of the passage between the small and large intestine and diverticulitis. Crohn's is the culprit.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this surgery and what kind of after effects they had. Tue, 21 Oct 2014 11:39:17 EST Long road led to Crohns After a long year of severe pain and vomiting and only eating tuna fish and drinking powerade and drs that thought I just wanted drugs I have been diagnosed with Crohns. I switched drs and within a month my new dr found out that I was Crohnie. I got on Spark to get healthy and stay healthy . I've already had a small bowel resection getting 18 inches removed and I don't wanna do that again anytime soon! I'm looking for good friends to add to help each other along the way Thu, 11 Sep 2014 12:01:52 EST Hi! I was on spark a long time ago. But since I have to lose all my weight again I thought I would re-make my page. I was diagnosed with Crohn's in 2005. Currently on Humira and 6MP. After years in pain, I am over the moon with how well I do now.
Don't know what else to say. I just spent 40 minutes on the treadmill so maybe I have a lack of blood to my brain at the moment. But I wanted to say hi and hopefully get to know you all.
334 Wed, 26 Feb 2014 21:47:38 EST Have you heard of Low-FODMAP Diet? Tried it? After my latest colonoscopy, my doctor handed me a sheet of paper on the low-FODMAP diet, and said I should try this diet. I searched the internet and discovered it is a plan to manage IBS, and other digestive disorders.

It for sure is a real change of lifestyle, one in which I am having to ease into slowly. It is gluten free, lactose free and only allows certain fruits and vegetables, and proteins.

I looked for a team here at Spark for this plan, but none were foun... Sat, 14 Dec 2013 12:56:04 EST Hi! I'm new to the Team Forum I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease when I needed surgery in 2004. My Gastroenterologist figures I was probably born with the Disease and according to my baby book I was first hospitalized at about 5 weeks of age for intolerance for my formula and bowel issues. I've only had surgery once and that was in 2005. The surgeon did a by-pass in my Duodenum in the upper small bowel. In the same surgery, I had a resection of the small and large intestines removing both my Illium and Appendix. I'... Mon, 9 Dec 2013 20:30:14 EST Humira and Thyroid Function Has anyone taken Humira and suddenly had their thyroid go out of whack? I am having issues with extreme cold, and my doctor tested my thyroid. My levels are a lot lower than in February.

Any help is appreciated. Tue, 26 Nov 2013 12:45:37 EST Hi there! Hi all.
I've been on Sparkpeople on and off for about 4 years. I am 41 years old, married, work full time, have a 14 year old step son and a 5 year old daughter. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 1995 and immediately went on a Gluten Free Diet. It helped but not as much as it does for some people. Life went on and I just figured it was my fate to feel vaguely unwell most of the time and to suffer from "digestive" issues (trying to be polite lol). Fastforward to 2011 when th... Wed, 30 Oct 2013 13:00:52 EST REMICADE I do Remicade infusions every 8 weeks plus take 100 mg. of Imuran every night. I've been in recent remission. SUCH A RELIEF!!!! I was diagnosed with Colitis in 1992. Then with Crohns in 1995. It's rare, but I have both!!! But in my last Colonoscopy, only showed Colitis, my Crohn's has healed. I strongly suggest Remicade to anyone skeptical about getting it done. Mon, 23 Sep 2013 11:18:35 EST Hello All! Hi everyone,

I found out that I have UC in February 2013, probably related to my ankylosing spondylitis diagnosis which was diagnosed in August 2012. Honestly, it was a relieve to finally have this diagnoses because doctors had been playing guessing games for almost two decades. My former rheumatologist even tried to convince me that I had IBS, even though I had been losing hair and felt like a sieve. I found a new one really quick.

My big issues is that all the things ... Fri, 13 Sep 2013 19:16:28 EST Phentermine with Crohns Has anyone ever taken Phentermine with Crohns? I have Crohns and we (my husband and myself) have just started Phentermine along with a very high protein, no carb diet. We have only been doing it a couple of days, so far so good. I have not had a real flare in over 17 years. Any thoughts or comments welcomed. Wed, 26 Jun 2013 22:52:09 EST Vitamins and UC Hello there,

I'm a 19 year old female and I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis when I was 17. I haven't been in remission at all yet, and I've been taking Remicade infusions for a little over a year now. I was just a little bit concerned about vitamins or supplements. Is there anything I should know or read about vitamins and Ulcerative Colitis? I'm trying to find something that's also been approved by the U.S. Pharmacopeia or NSF international- just something that's been tested... Mon, 24 Jun 2013 20:03:54 EST Problem! My Crohn's is under control with medication. The only problem is that I can't tolerate a lot of fruits and vegetables, which is impeding my weight loss. I love salad, but it absolutely kills me. Does anyone else have this problem? Mon, 24 Jun 2013 14:06:36 EST Has Fistula, Needs Surgery So my husband had a CT scan on Wednesday. The Dr. at the office looks at his results and says to him, "You need to go to the hospital and have emergency surgery." So of course he calls me to come pick him up and I'm freaking out. In the meantime they call his gastroenterologist office. His main doctor isn't there, but this other doctor who we don't like answers. He says, "You need to use the barium dye." My husband vomits when he drinks that stuff, so it's pointless if you don't keep it ... Thu, 30 May 2013 18:48:50 EST Anyone joining a Take Steps walk this year? Hi there - I have been a Crohn's patient for the past 6 years. I have struggled with it a bit over the past couple years. It has been so wonderful to be connected to the CCFA community. Does anyone else do the annual Take Steps walks? I live in Western Washington (state) and ours is coming up June 1st! I am really excited to be a part of the walk this year and be among the community of supporters, patients, doctors, family and friends. I also feel less alone out here in the world when I ... Wed, 22 May 2013 11:12:22 EST Latest Dr. Appt, ENTOCORT? So my husband, who has Crohn's, hasn't gone to the doctor about it for 6 years. Technically that's a lie, he went because he got nodules on his legs about 9 months ago, but there was only a bit of blood work done, and I'll be honest, they didn't have any suggestions for the nodules but to wait them out. Sure enough, 6 weeks after appearing, they just disappeared, leaving behind a few spots that look like bruises that haven't gone away.

But as far as stomach issues, no problems fo... Wed, 22 May 2013 09:04:19 EST Hello! Husband has Crohns. Hello everyone!

I'm 29, with two kids and married to a wonderful man who unfortunately has Crohns Disease. As I'm beginning my diet journey (AGAIN) I'm trying very hard to incorporate foods that my husband can eat also. He just went through a particularly bad flare up and has now dropped down to the lowest weight I've ever known him to be. He may even need to start taking nutrition shots because he's having such a hard time eating. I admit to a little jealousy that he's lost over 5... Mon, 13 May 2013 18:28:02 EST New member-Is anyone documenting symptoms here? Good morning! I have had Crohn's for 25 years and am currently in remission. I had a small bowel resection in 2000. Since then I have had many different health complications and have come back to SP to document diet and other health data..

I wanted to know if anyone documents things like cramping, diarrhea, and pain along with their food logging. Sat, 19 Jan 2013 21:11:57 EST Getting back in shape after surgery One of my biggest problems is that I have had 3 bowel resections in the last 4 years. It started with an obstruction 4 years ago. I never fully healed before the pain started getting worse. My GI thought it was a cyst on my ovary, so I was sent to my OB/GYN and scheduled for surgery for the cyst. When they opened me up, they found that it was actually my small intestine had adhered to my ovary. So I was re-sected again. Again, I never fully healed before I had a fistula open up into my perito... Fri, 18 Jan 2013 01:36:19 EST Happy New Year to all! i just want to wish everyone a Happy & Healthy New Year. Wed, 15 Aug 2012 18:21:44 EST Hello Everyone! I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis back in May, but haven't been treated for it until last week. Sat, 4 Aug 2012 22:43:05 EST Trigger foods - Where to start? Even though I was recently diagnosed I have been having symptoms for a while. I know that there are trigger foods but I am at a loss of how to find them. In the beginning it was mostly dairy (ice cream mainly) that upset my stomach but now it seems that everything I eat bothers it. I am in the middle of a bad flare up so I am not sure this is even the time to figure it out. Suggestions on how to find trigger foods when everything makes you feel "icky"? Wed, 1 Aug 2012 16:15:02 EST Thanks prednisone! I have been a member of sparkpeople for several years. It helped me lose 60 lbs in the years past. After I got to a comfy weight, and got a promotion at work, I didn't have as much time. I quit coming to spark. I didn't completely abandon my healthy ways, just loosened a bit. I did fine until Feb, I got really sick. I was diagnosed with mild Crohn's in 2005. Tue, 16 Nov 2010 10:38:09 EST New to this team Hi everyone! I'm Sharon, and I have had colitis for a year now. I have had IBS ever since I was a kid. In November last year, I got a terrible C. diff. infection. I did not recover, and so I had a colonoscopy. This showed that I now have colitis.

I'm learning that this is much more challenging to deal with than IBS. Ok so I was just diagnosed with microscopic colitis and am in a flair. Have been for 2 months. My Dr. just handed me asacol, tramadol for pain and sent me on my way.
