SparkPeople Gastric Sleevers Team Messageboard This is a group started for people who have had a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy surgery, or for those who are looking to get the VSG. This is a group for encouragement and support! SparkPeople Gastric Sleevers Team Messageboard Happy New Year May this year be fantastic! Sat, 2 Jan 2021 13:53:23 EST Hey I'm battling regain! Sat, 26 Dec 2020 21:00:23 EST Greetings! Hey all! I just wanted to say Hello! I am getting sleeved on 1/6, and have just begun my two week pre op diet. It took me a long time to decide I needed the surgery to help me with my weight loss goals, CoVid delayed my surgery a little bit, but overall I am nervous, scared, and excited for this newest journey. I am 5'5, 382 (in bathroom scale) and about to be 37 years old. I've been overweight and fluctuating weight for most of my life and diets and exercise just never seem to be enough... Wed, 23 Dec 2020 00:12:06 EST New Here, 7-months post op Glad to find a team that really seems to care. After the surgery you kinda' feel-lost.
Anyway, not to be a wet blanket I would still do it all again. It was so worth it!
The thing that bothers me know is that my body looks like a melting candle (at least I'm healthier). Plastic surgery is gonna hurt :) 9 Mon, 10 Aug 2020 13:31:14 EST Two Years Out and Lost Hi everyone. I'm a bit over 2.5 years, never made my goal, and couldn't continue with my dietician at the one-year mark. Needless to say I'm completely lost on how much I should be eating, how often, how many meals a day, etc. I try to stay under 800 calories and get my 60G of protein. I was up at much as 1100 calories at one point. I've searched online and of course every center and program is very different.

Though I've never made my goal, I've not gained back either, but really ... Sat, 1 Aug 2020 21:54:46 EST Newbie Hi everyone! I just joined this team. I am 3 years out from VSG. I initially lost 101 pounds, but since the lockdown I've been eating too much and not exercising enough! I'm looking for support and encouragement and I'm willing to give support and encouragement too!! I'm hoping to make some friends along the way as well!! Fri, 5 Jun 2020 16:37:24 EST Really really new. Hallooooo out there! My name is Cher and I've just started the pre surgery diet. It's been, well this is day three. I'm HUNGRY. (or maybe that's my ulcer complaining not quite sure) At any rate, how do/did y'all DO THIS?? I'm worried that I won't be able to keep it up. How long does it take for the stomach to shrink so you don't want/can't eat as much? What tricks did/do you use? I know I'll be eating even LESS after surgery and I just don't know how to do this!
Tue, 2 Jun 2020 19:58:01 EST Help I am having VSG, what do I say to my children about why I am in the hospital? They are young and I don't want them to know about the VSG surgery. I also don't want to lie about where I'm going. They are old enough to understand but not old enough to understand privacy (we don' tell people our business). Fri, 15 May 2020 15:52:57 EST Nervous Hi,

I am in the process of getting the gastric sleeve surgery, I have had the psyc. evaluation done and was supposed to have my first consultation last month but it got postponed and has been rescheduled for Tuesday, it is a 4 hour appointment and I am nervous because I don't know what to expect, I don't know what they will want me to do. I would greatly appreciate any info anyone could give me. Thanks Sun, 26 Apr 2020 16:56:53 EST Hi everyone I'm new, will be getting my sleeve done soon, have to wait this corona virus to clear up. Looking forward to be in the losers bench! 30 521 Sat, 21 Mar 2020 17:45:23 EST Hey everybody Not had my surgery yet. I know there will be restrictions and a different struggle with the sleeve but it has to be better than what I have been doing for the last 50 years! Looking for alternatives to going out to dinner or to a bar. Wed, 27 Feb 2019 17:40:40 EST Hello - Glad I found you I'm 11 days out from surgery and am both nervous and excited. I'm really glad I found a group that I can hopefully learn from. First question, is how did you handle the pre-Op diet? So far I'm doing okay, but I can see getting frustrated pretty quickly. also, any tips for handling a party? Wed, 9 Aug 2017 10:43:05 EST Advice/Tips Hello, I am really struggling with completing my food logs. I am not sure why this is so hard for me to become a habit especially when I know that when I do it, my diet is so much better. I am at a weight loss stall (sleeved 3/22/17) and it is driving me crazy. I am desperate to lose weight to be able to get pregnant and I know that logging my food and drink is such a helpful tool I just can't seem to remember to do it. Any ideas or tips on how to make this a habit? Tue, 8 Aug 2017 08:49:35 EST The light at the end of my tunnel Hi, all, my name is Kelly. I began the process of having the sleeve in March 2017. I have my last primary care physician visit this month. I'm getting so excited! It's literally almost all that I think about. I am constantly researching and asking people for advice or just wanting to hear their stories.
Now, a little about me. I'm married to my amazing wife, Lori. We have 2 kids, 15 and 8, and 2 cats. In addition to working full-time, I am also a full-time student.
I'm hoping that... I have been a team member in the past but cannot remember any of my old info, so I created a new account. In October 2015, I had the vertical gastric sleeve. It was the best decision that I have ever made for my life and health. Up until that time I pretty much did the Dukan/low carb. I just couldn't lose weight, and I was very tired and run down. Since my surgery I have lost 80 pounds and gained back seven. I feel better but I'm getting sluggish again. I know the Dukan works so I ... Tue, 20 Jun 2017 08:40:25 EST June 2017 It's June! Sat, 20 May 2017 18:21:33 EST HI ALL I am a bariatric patient 12 days until my gastric sleeve. I am on a pre-op diet for the next 9 days of 20carbs daily. Hunger hasn't been an issue but variety has, I had an apple with peanut butter and when I logged it found out that the apple was 22 carbs which spent my whole day's worth and then the peanut butter was another 7. I have been disappointed in myself because of the inability to stay at the 20 mark. If anyone has any advice PLEASE SHARE. Thu, 18 May 2017 19:30:01 EST Greetings! Hi everyone! My name is Tabi. Started at 210 just before surgery, am now down to 160. Weight loss slowed down a lot after about 2.5 months, and it was hard to take, but gradually I've refocussed my efforts on exercise. I cook all my own food and eat well--that takes up a good bit of time but it gets easier all the time and I enjoy it. Tue, 25 Apr 2017 19:41:46 EST Starting the Journey Good morning everyone. I finally started the journey last month. I just found Spark People and it looks like a good tool, easy to navigate with lots of friendly members! Can you eventually swallow large pills again? Sat, 10 Jan 2015 23:32:32 EST
