SparkPeople 45+ With Type 2 Diabetes Team Messageboard Weight Loss Woes So, I've been diabetic since August 2019, I lost about 35 pounds right off the bat before I was diagnosed. I've gained about 15 of it back since being put on medication. I've completely cut out soda's including diet soda and stick to flavored water. I've been eating better but I'm stuck and not losing weight. People always told me to cut out soda's and you'll start losing weight. Well, I've done that and instead of dropping weight I gained almost half of it back. I was down to 236 from 265 an... Fri, 29 Nov 2019 09:38:45 EST CGM & Meters I had been using an iHealth meter I got from Amazon since I was diagnosed in June. I altered my diet significantly, haven't cheated, took diabetes classes at the hospital, started exercising, and have lost 30 pounds or so, so far... but my numbers were still disappointing (on my meter). So, last week, I asked my doctor for a prescription for the FreeStyle Libre CGM, knowing my insurance probably wouldn't cover it. I picked it up, and the insurance covered half... which was a great surpris... Wed, 4 Sep 2019 13:31:33 EST Holidays and diabetes I'm curious how everyone is handling the holidays with all the foods that are bad for us as diabetics and losing weight. Although it's been a year now since I was first diagnosed and I went through one Christmas, I find this year a bit harder to resist all the goodies because I've lost so much weight and sugars are for most part under control now. <BR> Are you finding it hard also and if so what's your game plan? Mon, 26 Nov 2018 20:45:27 EST New to the team I am new to the team, well not exactly. I was with Sparkpeople a long time ago and recently came back, I'm from Wesley Chapel Florida, I'm 65 years old with diabetes and is really trying to get rid of this weight so I can love my numbers. I don't talk that much, but I will respond to any advice or communication sent my way. I have been looking at different sites and have no clue. I also have to take into account that I am diabetic and just had a complete knee replacement about 3 months ago. M... Mon, 12 Oct 2015 21:23:09 EST Comparing Glucose Meters Over the last couple of years I have accumulated 4 different meters. The meters, except for one, were completely free or insurance paid, but the test strips aren't. I was diagnosed 12 months ago and have been trying to slowing alter my eating habits. My mother went undiagnosed for a long time and ended up losing her sight - something which really scares me so I feel I must try to do as much as possible to prevent the awful side effects. Saying that I know of a dear lady who has been diabetic for many years and is now 93 years old so there is hope! Tue, 10 Aug 2010 07:31:38 EST Dreamfield pasta? Has anyone tried Dreamfield pasta? My nutritionist gave me a paper on the nutritional values and said some diabetics have better blood glucose numbers after eating this kind rather than the regular. I haven't been able to find it in town yet and so I have been considering buying it online but I am hesitant because pasta makes my numbers go high. Thanks. Fri, 6 Aug 2010 23:00:12 EST Has anyone beaten Type 2? With everything I've read and information from both my Dr. and Nutritionist, Type 2 can be reversed. Does anyone know of anyone who has done this? My dad was diagnosed as pre-diabetic and changed his diet and is now in the normal range and keeping it there. I was diagnosed with Type 2 a month and a half ago and I my goal is to 1. get it managed and then 2. BEAT it. Is there anyone else out there that has the same goals?
