Sat, 22 Feb 2014 10:36:29 EST The importance of a hobby I know I haven't been here in way too long so I hope there is still some readers. I decided to go back to my old hobby of playing the guitar. It hurt my fingers and shoulders but it's not damaging them, It's actually better for us to use our muscles. I've never felt better. I feel stronger an prouder than I have in years.
What are you doing today for yourself? Sat, 18 Jan 2014 13:26:59 EST Depression from Chronic Fatigue I was speaking with a colleague earlier who is doing so much better after receiving multiple cortisone shots. I said I was very happy to hear the news that she is feeling so much better and that it can change your whole perspective. She said that she had been suffering from mild depression as well and didn't even know it. I absolutely believe that we all fight depression everyday because we know this is never going away but that we have made it another day and we can and we will do it again t... Wed, 30 Oct 2013 14:25:08 EST Diagnosed about 1 year ago... Hi everyone,

My name is Lynda. I was diagnosed with moderate to severe AS about a year ago. This was after almost 20 years of doctors telling me that they didn't know what was wrong with me, asking me if I had been in a car accident, and pretty much putting me on a pill until it got better. Until the next flare up, anyway.

Since my diagnosis, I have had to change a few things about fitness. I was practicing Olympic weight lifting for a while, but the doctor thought it wo... Fri, 13 Sep 2013 19:33:56 EST zumba vs yoga I have always wanted to try both zumba and I tried both, yesterday I did the yoga, I had a hard time doing the floor exercises... today I tried a very begiining zumba routine using free you- tube vidoes, modifying the moves as needed... I had a blast and since I did it alone in my bedroom I did not care if I looked silly or messed up the move! My knees hurt a little now but I feel so good for trying it, I'll probably do it again.
Mon, 7 Jan 2013 19:54:58 EST new to spark and AS Hi,
I was just diagnosed about a month ago with atypical AS and was started on prednisone to manage my pain until a plan for a DMARD is finalized after lab work ect... I also started a weight loss plan using sparkpeople as I have gained weight due to inactivity over the last six months secondary to my pain issues (the prednisone is not helping much either in the weight gain department) My biggest challenge seems to be getting in the physical actvity as I have been having pain flares.... Sun, 6 Jan 2013 16:16:43 EST Depression/A nger/Fatigue I could go on & on but am hoping for some dialogue amongst team mates. Who is doing great or not so great today? It took my second opthamologist and a third round of iritis to finally get a diagnosis! I don't think the AS had much to do with my weight gain. I've had times where my hip pain prevented me from exercising, but I can usually just push through the pain. I became self-emplo... Mon, 9 Jan 2012 01:58:07 EST Hello! I was diagnosed with AS about a year and a half ago after I randomly ended up with Iritis and it continued for nine months. I was immediately put on methotrexate and first Simponi then Humira. I'm really optimistic that I will reach and maintain my goal weight. Fri, 6 May 2011 11:06:26 EST Newly Diagnosed Hello! I was diagnosed as probable ankylosing spondylitis several months ago. After years of chronic pain by process of elimination my doctor has said this is the probable cause even though the MRI of my spine did not exhibit typical findings for the disease.
