The good news is that 3000 is in my SparkPeople recommended range. I just expected more from myself. I haven't weighed myself at the beginning or since, because I have no drive. I will step on the scale tomorrow or try and start the program. I went shopping yesterday and bought out the fruit and vegetable section. I hope the food doesn't rot. It's not that I don't like it, but I always eat things I can just grab and not fix. I feel to apathetic to do more. Mon, 11 Aug 2008 19:47:41 EST new to the sight I'm new to the whole diet thing and my husband and I are doing it together. Hey, team!

Our daily goal is supposed to be to walk 10,000 steps, which is approximately 5 miles. Most of us probably don't just set out and walk 5 miles (or more, if you have short legs like me) to get our steps in, though--a lot of it happens as we go about our daily routines. But what if we did just one normal activity or one section of a daily mini-commute for all 10,000 steps?

For me, that would be:
~10 round trips to the Metro station
~100 trips to the ba... Finding out that my husband (we've been together almost 16 yrs) is now suffering from bipolar mental disease, changed his personality, and decided to change everything in his life even those things that were not problematic like our marriage. Talk about getting blind-sided. He filed for divorce last Aug.

Last summer, I lost 36 lbs in 3 1/2 months due to t... Especially when I get the salty food craving.

What snacks do all of you like to keep on hand? Wed, 6 Aug 2008 14:40:48 EST Hi Everyone! Hi everyone! I love this exercise online site!!!! I feel that this is really going to work for me. I see by reading your messages, that it's working for so many! This program makes me think about good nutrition, and reminds me to get the exercise done everyday. I'm excited about my changes already! Wed, 6 Aug 2008 13:21:45 EST Hi Everyone! Hi everyone! I have set it to my stride and my weight so that I can get accurate estimations of my distance walked and calories burned throughout the day. My problem is that it's practically impossible to track the time I'm walking as it happens in several short spurts during the day in addition to a regular walk for exercise. My question would be, how should I calculate minutes for calories burned due to walking in the course of my day th... Thanks for the great welcome!!!

Tue, 5 Aug 2008 17:36:35 EST Meal Plans - Can I make them work for me? From what it looks like, the meal plans are completely impractical for me, and I'd spend about as much time on substitutions and custom foods trying to make them work out in some remotely sane way as I do inputting everything from scratch.

One set of problems comes from the meals on one day being completely unrelated to the meals on the next day. This is particularly important since I live alone. If I'm going to eat cantaloupe for breakfast one day, I need to eat cantaloupe a few o... Tue, 5 Aug 2008 10:06:49 EST Hey everyone Hey I am extremely new to this site. I am trying to get back to the size I was when I first moved to FL. I have gained so much weight living down here. I have tried to adjust to the southern living style but it is very hard for me. I am not big on anything they eat. I don't like fried food too much. I have just noticed everything is cooked in oil/grease. I am not used to it. I am also trying to stop drinking pop, well caffeine period. It will take time. I wish everyone the best of luck! Tue, 5 Aug 2008 09:45:16 EST Hi Everyone! This is all new to me. I like this site. It provides daily support. On August 1st at my job, we started a biggest loser contest. We have a lot of support at work as well. 213 Tue, 5 Aug 2008 06:00:59 EST Hi People Hi y'all. I'm Melissa, and live in Missouri. I started my diet (more like a new lifestyle) and exercise plan on May 1 of this year. So far I'm down from 228 to 194. I was feeling great! I had a couple of health issues that prevented me from working out for the past 3 weeks, but I have 2 weeks left until I'm down again for 2-3 weeks, so I joined in hopes of finding motivation and additional ways of working out without using my feet. Mon, 4 Aug 2008 22:10:29 EST I'm new and cruising the site to learn it some. Thanks for being here and encouraging each other! Looking forward to making progress wth everyone!!! I have just had my 68th birthday on July 17th and I've been on Weight Watchers for about six months, losing about 35 pounds so far. In total, in the last four years, I went from 427 pounds to 300 pounds, but a lot of that was because of two long-term hospital stays totalling eleven months. August 1st was the day my new life started, though, so I hope you all will forgive me for joining this group. 30 I have had a lot of weight struggles in the past, and I think it was because I never really wanted to do it. I would rather go to Jack in the Box and get a breakfast burrito than scramble a couple eggs, make some turkey bacon and throw it in a whole wheat tortilla (much better, by the way). ...
