Tue, 3 Jun 2008 18:02:16 EST Anyone have problems taking Lialda? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x17464x15228644 Hi gang,

Has anyone tried Lialda for their Crohn's, but had bad side effects? I stopped taking it late last week after being on it for about a month because of problems with chest pain, shortness of breath, and water-weight gain. I had stopped the steroid they had me on two weeks before that.

So, I was wondering if anyone else had problems with Lialda. I was on the max dose and not getting 100% relief anyway.

Kimmer 46 Mon, 26 May 2008 05:43:13 EST New to Sparkpeople and to Crohn's Disease http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x17464x15081478 Hey All!
I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in April and had an emergency small bowel resection two days later. I was in the hospital for just over a week and now I'm recovering at home and feeling much better. I had been suffering in silence for over 2 years not knowing what was wrong with me. I'm sure you all know how this feels. I lost about 25 pounds so now I'm looking to gain some back. Anyway, even though Crohn's is a terrible disease, it's nice to finally have some answers and k... It's been three years since my last colonoscopy and I have to get another one next week.
I know this is going to sound psycho but I'm super annoyed about the liquid diet day and worried that I might cheat a bit after the procedure and not eating the day before.
Also: I don't ever remember the no sugar free/no diet soda rule from my previous times. The nurse told me it was because sugar free things made you gassy. I know last time I did the liquid diet day I had sugar free ... I didn't even know what Crohns was until a couple months ago when the doctors told me that it was a possibility. I was told I have ulcerations in my large colon; however, a barium test did not find any damaged tissue in my small intestine. I've always been active & positive and have really good eating habits. This is such an emotional as well as physical thing for me. As an adolescent, I suffered... I am 44 years old living with Chron's for the past 9 years. The begining was really though since I seem to be allergic to all of the medications especially Remicaide. This has resulted in a severe weight gain due to prednisone, and cyclosporine destroying the metabolism.
I am excited about hearing from all of the team members and interacting with you. Good luck to everyone and may God be with you! I was diagnosed with Crohn's when I was 17 and have managed to do well with drug therapies and diet until now. Over the past couple of years I've been in a steady decline. My specialist started me on Prednisone 2 years ago which helped a lot minus the horrible side effects and a year ago I went on Remicade and was able to come off the Prednisone. The Remicade was like a miracle drug for the first 8 mon... I was diagnosed with Crohn's a little over a year ago. I have found that eliminating all veggies and limiting my fruit has helped me emencly. I have not had a flare up in over six months. I do not take my meds, which probably will hurt me in the long run, I don't beleive in pumping my body full of medication. I've had more than a dozen surgeries, including 2 iliostomies. (I'm now bag free, lol). In recent years, the disease has changed and I now have to worry about weight. I didn't in the past, because I flaired so often, I couldn't gain weight. Now, I'm relatively stable, on Remicade and Imuran and the pounds have piled on. I also have a child with autism that takes up a lot of my time... My intestines has an opening about the size of a dime...if that...and the muscles were not working in that area. So it was really rough for two years.

Finally, after having gone to the ER with two blockages...I gave in and had surgery to remove that section of... I am glad I found some people on here that understand about Crohn's! I am 29 years old and have had crohn's for 11 years. Last year was the worst I have ever experienced. I was to the point where I lost more weight than I wanted and was so weak it was hard to get out of bed. That is really the tip of it but you get the idea.
