SparkPeople Bully Lovers! Team Messageboard This group is for lovers of Bullies! 'Pit Bulls' (American Pit Bull Terriers, AmStaffs & Staffordshire Bull Terriers), and all the other breeds referred to, or mistaken for, our sweet bullies. SparkPeople Bully Lovers! Team Messageboard A mix Hello all! I just wanted to introduce myself to the team. I love the pitbull breed! My sister's ex-in-laws had a pitbull that I fell in love with in high school and I have just adored the breed since! I currently have two dogs, a beagle and a pit-bull mix. She is mastiff/pitbull. When we first got her as a puppy we thought she was a full English Mastiff. As she grew, we knew that she had pit in her and the vet confirmed. I ADORE her. It irritates me when someone asks her breed and th... Thu, 9 Apr 2015 11:36:27 EST Greetings from Houston TX I want to network with like minded: weight trainers, bodybuilders, readers, and the always-curious about everything and who is a life long learner. I have been lifting weights since 1989 and all this enhanced everything else and interests claiming my attention. I also am a parent to a rescue American Bull Terrier (pit bull).
For my 66 birthday 9/11/15 I will be more defined and vascular and that vanity is my bodybuilding goal for now ! Love to hear from you! Sat, 21 Jun 2014 11:47:15 EST Proudest Pit Bull Mom! 251 My name is Lizzie and my pibble is my baby. She's turning 4 this year. I am also a law school student, a member of 'Student Animal Legal Defense Fund', and have an interest in fighting BSL. Her name is Precious. Eventually I will add her pics to my gallery lol. Only had her two days, and man is she energetic!!!!!! I also have a border collie mix. Sat, 22 Mar 2014 17:08:48 EST Proud Pit Bull Mommy! Sadie is my white pit bull. She has a few freckles and hazel eyes. I got her before she was off milk (very young) and have had her ever since. She is absolutely spoiled rotten & is a beautiful dog. She's wonderful & I love her very much. I brag about her like she is my baby (I nursed her with a bottle & raised her so she is really). Anyway. I love her and enjoy speding time with her and love learning new things about the breed (any dog/animal in general really). My name is Rayna and I am the proud mama of 2 pit mixes. My brindle girl's name is Reese and my white girl is named Angel. Angel is deaf, but rather attentive. Just don't get the laser pointer out! Anyway, I'm glad to see other like minded people on SP. Wed, 30 Oct 2013 11:06:24 EST An introduction Hello fellow Pittie lovers!

I'm Kate. I'm happily owned by a pit mix (maybe mixed with boxer) named Arya. I adopted her from a local rescue and have never had a smarter dog. Arya's my motivation to get up and get outside multiple times a day when I'm home - every time I put on shoes, I get the happydance.

I'd love to have a couple of fellow bully fans as friends, so feel free to add me. Sat, 17 Aug 2013 09:26:38 EST NEED HOME FOR PIT BULL A beautiful Pitt bull name Mary was dropped at my home a couple days ago with a name, a can of flea spray and two pink bowls. (I have a large fenced in back yard and three dogs, one pitt bull mix and one american bulldog) I took her to the vet and de-fleaed her, negative heart-worm test, put her on Revolution. She's about 2 years old (we scanned to see if micro-chipped but no luck) and she's 55 pounds. She sits, stays (way better than my three dogs) and fetches (she knows "drop it") She ... Sun, 4 Aug 2013 11:23:27 EST Hi to all I'm from England. I have a naughty six year old (or thereabouts) Staffie. Love her to bits. She's my main exercise buddy - we walk everyday, except recently I've been having knee trouble (thanks to the excess weight) and have been struggling to keep up. Anyway, that's why I'm here - to lose the excess weight and get back to long walks. Her name is Poppy. Two years ago she had a cruciate ligament replaced in her knee, poor thing - but my knee problem hasn't come to that yet, thankfully:) Sun, 4 Aug 2013 09:02:50 EST Help some Ontario bullies - one click to vote! My dog loves chasing frisbee off leash more than just about anything else... especially in the snow. The issue is that I live in a condo community and although there are two "dog runs," they are approximately 5 feet wide each... Not exactly ideal for frisbee. We have four huge fenced in virtually unused tennis courts that would be perfect, except there are no dogs allowed :-(

Our local dog park is very popular and so it's pretty impossible to find it empty for frisbee playing... It's been getting dark before I get home from work so it's nice to have the little guy with me on my evening runs. It makes me feel a lot safer (people don't need to know he's afraid of his own shadow half the time Lol). He's actually much better on leash when we're running than on his daily walks. I'm not sure if he is just forced to concentrate a little more and that's what keeps him from pulling, but I was pleasant... Thu, 22 Mar 2012 15:11:09 EST How I Accidently Adopted A Pitbull After losing our last rescue dog (a blue tick coonhound), we decided we were ready to open our home to another puppy. After looking at many different options, we found ourselves interested in a little "black lab mix" litter. By the time our application was approved by the shelter, there were only two of the eight identical "lab" puppies left. I asked the owner of the shelter to hold one for us, a male. I, like so many people was not at all interested in the pitbul breed, having heard all the ... Sun, 11 Mar 2012 20:34:49 EST People are waking up about BSL!! Ok so BSL has been removed from Ohio lawbooks after 25 YEARS!! and Hershey's bill-removal of BSL- passed the second of 3 hurdles for Ontario! Fri, 9 Mar 2012 11:43:58 EST Newbie from New York! My name is Erica. I'm 25 years old and and working on getting to a healthy weight. I also just adopted a pitbull/ black lab mix in September. He's going on 8 months old... so still very much a puppy. He's the greatest workout partner ever. He's got SO MUCH ENERGY! I got him a great body harness that doesn't allow him to pull me and it's made running so much more fun to have him with me... plus he's much better behaved after he's worn out a little bit. Everybody wins! Sun, 4 Mar 2012 20:03:30 EST BSL in Ontario I don't know how many of you are in ontario but BSL has the backing of at least one member from EACH political party and i think removal of BSL has passed one readin with the second one being this later this month. I have 2 American Bulldogs and always take 1 with me for my daily walk, I believe the exercise is as beneficial to me as it is to them plus it's nice to get them out and show people that they aren't viscious dogs as some believe. They love the attention they get from little kids stopping to pet them when we are out. Mon, 8 Aug 2011 13:12:21 EST Newbie & love my pittie! I'm so glad that I found this team! My pitbull Bubba (almost 3) is the sweetest most loving dog you will ever meet and it's frustrating to see the negative stereotyping that occurs relating to his breed. He's got so much character, is so loving and is just my best friend. People who choose not to get to know him based upon their stereotypical views are really missing out. I'm looking forward to being part of this group! Thu, 28 Jul 2011 08:52:00 EST Hi! Although my baby is an American Bulldog, she is often mistaken for the wrongly perscuted Pit breed. My best friend of my life passed only weeks ago at the age of 15, her name was Angel and she was the sweetest, loveable dog ever. Sat, 16 Jul 2011 12:27:18 EST New to team, but not to Pitties! So glad to have found this team! I love my 6 year old American Staffordshire Terrier.
( I usually just say Pit Bull.) Her name is Lilly and she is my sweet baby. Fri, 8 Jul 2011 20:12:39 EST Mirror dog Jasmine won't look in a mirror that I'm also looking in too. I've never had a dog who behaved like that before. Have you?
If we are playing she may look in to the mirror but only as part of the game, and only a few seconds, but if we aren't already playing she refuses to look at the same mirror as me.
I am SURE it has to do with how very very very submissive she is. But I'd like to know if she's just strange or not lol Fri, 10 Jun 2011 02:41:43 EST Research and resources Hello all,

I have only just recently discovered the wonder and beauty of these truly awesome dogs. My pit bull is the love of my life (don't tell my boyfriend) but it's true. He has demodex mange very badly so he is kinda bald and crusty but adorable. I spend so much money on him but I don't care. If I ever come into a ton of money I would start a pit bull rescue group. I love the breed they are so smart, sweet and loyal. Can't wait to talk about how amazing pit bulls are. :) Mon, 23 May 2011 02:05:25 EST Hi all I'm so glad I found this team! Princess, my pitbull baby, is the best thing that ever happened to me. Sun, 21 Nov 2010 00:06:28 EST My Pit Bull Story This is how I came to LOVE pit bulls...My husband had been wanting a pit bull puppy for the longest. I was a cat person at the time and had been for many years and did not want a dog especially a pit because I bought into the bad stereotypes of the breed. Eventually my husband got his puppy from his friend who's dog had pups and when he brought her home she was so adorable and a little scared. Fri, 2 Jan 2009 23:43:22 EST Percentage of dog bites per captia I think this is very interesting! It is really eye-opening and good ammunition to argue with those that think that our babies are "bad". If people would look at the REAL numbers that take into account the size of the population of a certain breed it proves that our pitties may not be angels but they are darn close! Here is the article with author.

The following is from Glen Bui, Vice President of the American Canine Foundation (ACF),
( BS Biology Genetics / Canine Behavior / ... I'm Cathy, I have six dogs and 8 cats. Two of my dogs are bullies. My little girl stays with me all of the time because she want to beat up the others. She was given to me by a neighbor because they was afraid of her, she was just nine weeks old. I was told that she was a Mastiff mix and soon found out that she was a pit maybe mix not sure.
The other bully is male and it takes more to get him angry so he can play with the other dogs. I found him, starving and close to death (a... Wed, 31 Dec 2008 11:12:16 EST Buster passed the baby test I have always known that Buster was really good with toddlers and children, but he had never been around babies until this holiday. We had a nine month old staying with us and he was so gentle and good. I was such a proud momma. He would give the boy kisses on his arms when he was in his bouncer and got really worried whenever he cried. He even gave him his toy. Of course he immediately took it back once he realized he couldn't throw it for him. The only thing he wasn't too sure of was ... Wed, 31 Dec 2008 09:48:36 EST Atlanta Newbie! Hey everyone! I'm also an avid lover of the bully breeds! They're very near and dear to my heart.

I'm 25, reside in Atlanta, and I'm in the process of healing from the pain of having a puppy stolen and my home broken into. Sat, 27 Dec 2008 12:16:36 EST Please help save Smiley in Washington! An innocent dog is being held captive in A Whidbey Island shelter, facing a potential death sentence. His crime? He is a Pit bull mix. Help us Help Smiley before it is too late.

Let Shari Bibich, Shelter Operations Director of WAIF know what you think of the shelter's decision NOT to adopt this dog out based on his breed. He has harmed NO ONE.

This dog, who may or may not be a pit bull mix, has been unfairly targeted by WAIF. He has been in the shelter now for close to 2... Sat, 27 Dec 2008 12:15:58 EST bad bad pit! hi. i have just uploaded a new pic of my horrible dog. i am such a rotten and terribly irresponsible person for having such a dog with a toddler in the house and another baby due in less than a month! someone better put me on the worst mothers nomination list! Mixed with what I have no clue.
The new baby (6 months old, 58 Lbs we just adopted) was in the backyard barking at heavenknowswhat and Stella, my beautiful 98 Lb American Bulldog, came running into the house and hid under the bed LOL
So who is it exactly that decided these dogs were ... Sun, 14 Dec 2008 18:12:06 EST Zoe earned two therapy titles!! Many of you know me and know of the struggles with my excitable girl Zoe. She was definitely a challenge for us as a first dog (not including dogs we both had as family pets many years ago) especially since she came to us as a 6mth old boisterous puppy that even after 2hrs of exercise per day was still bouncing of the walls.

Well, it has been three years and many of you know that we (she) earned her CGC title in August (Canine Good Citizen through the AKC for those who don't know ... Mon, 8 Dec 2008 17:30:39 EST Lick Lick Lick! My 5 month old pitty pup is so loving and she just can't be close enough to you... which is all fine and dandy but she won't stop licking and I dont know the proper way to scold her for this because she's just trying to be affectionate and I dont want to punish her for being lovey? anyone have any ideas or tips? Thu, 4 Dec 2008 12:12:15 EST Baby Star! Ok so I applied for a little pit mix about three weeks ago and did a home check, etc. I am the proud owmer of a new rescue pup out of Oregon. I think she has some lab in her, hench the web feet, and you can see pics on my SP page. She is the sweetest little thing! Tue, 2 Dec 2008 20:03:45 EST Loose leash walk training advice I'm going to be working on getting Ruby CGC'ed (Canine Good Citizen) early next year, but want to get her started on walking nicely on the leash. Would love advice. You need to know she has food allergies and can ONLY have her kibble, which is SD ZD Ultra ($82 for 27.5 lb!!) NOTHING at all treat wise. She also likes to sniff a lot and I need her to notice I'm on the other end of the leash (she couldn't care less). The down side to our beloved bullies is their headstrong attitude! Tue, 2 Dec 2008 15:39:23 EST My dog is NOT fat!! While walking the dogs yesterday, a man walking his dog mentioned to us that Stella was overweight and told us the dangers of an overweight dog. It was out of concern I am sure but really, she is not fat. The vet says she is not fat!! She is 95 Lbs of muscle.
I know she walks funny, she kind of waddles like a swayback horse and she shuffles her feet but she is a bulldog, not a greyhound for goodness sake.
Sprocket is still quite thin so he also mentioned that maybe Stella was ea... It also happened to be the weekend that a major dog event was in town so the streets were packed!

The support from the public was overwhelming with people honking, stopping to ask for more information. Some even p... Thu, 20 Nov 2008 16:17:28 EST Fun Game – Harder Than You May Think!! I know many bully mommies and daddies had a hard time with this game! Coffeegirl9 pointed out that many times pitties are misidentified in attacks reported by the media and this just goes to prove it. Many of the breeds are easily recognizably NOT pitties, but you’d be surprised how many people misidentify because of size, color, bulky head, etc

dpit.html
Wed, 19 Nov 2008 13:51:01 EST Please take this poll and stick up for our bullys!

cal-man-wants-dangerous-dogs-banned/
Wed, 19 Nov 2008 12:57:26 EST Sunday's Everett Herald Check out the article about the Monroe BSL! He is a 4-5 month old newfoundland mix and is as sweet as they come AND he is housebroken. He's black with a white tux and a white stripe up his muzzle. I will post pictures as soon as I get a chance.
Stella likes him off and on, they played together all evening but she didn't like him at bedtime. It wi... Fri, 14 Nov 2008 08:01:28 EST Help bring Bruce home! Bruce is stuck in a shelter because he was deemed a dangerous dog; not because he did anything that would deem him a dangerous dog, but because of his appearance. It is a sad state of affairs when people or dogs are judged based on appearance alone. Bruce has been locked up for awhile now and it is obvious that he is not being cared for while the courts decide his fate. I could not imagine what I would do if this was not Bruce, but my two babies who were confiscated. As a pit bull owner I am ... I have a 3 y/o APBT who is the absolute love of my life! It's always nice to find other like-minded people. Mon, 3 Nov 2008 20:12:30 EST Talks of BSL in Monroe, WA - Please help! Hi

I just received this email via a friend through our organization Families Against Breed Bans and thought I would get the word out. We do have permission to cross post this letter so if you would like to pass it on please do so. Rather than wait for BSL to be enacted to start fighting, I believe it is more beneficial to not even let it get enforced and it is up to us dog owners to stop this madness and we can by sending emails. Obviously, if you live in WA then it is even more im... Thu, 30 Oct 2008 17:00:38 EST Training Question Hey guys!

I'm having a slight training problem and wondering if you had any suggestions.

I have a 5 year old Pit Bull named Hurley (aka Piggy) that I rescued when she was a few weeks old. She's my pride and joy, and such a smart girl!

I recently had to move out of my house and into an apartment, which means that Hurley no longer has a backyard to go potty in. I have a small enclosed patio that I need her to start using as I can only take her for one walk eve... Wed, 29 Oct 2008 16:46:54 EST We purchased a K9 Cruiser I have always wanted to go bike riding with my dog/s and heard great things about the K9 Cruiser (a device that attaches near your back tire and has a short lead to attack to your dog).

Well, we finally took the plunge and purchased one. It took a week for the K9 cruiser to get delivered and a week to buy a new tire tube (I am really slack especially when there are 4 bike stores within walking distance of my house and 2 bike stores outside my office!), only to find out I did someth... Wed, 29 Oct 2008 00:15:49 EST My 2 babies.. So I am going through a divorce and I had bought myself a Staffordshire Bull and he thought they were beautiful and got one too. My little girl is sweet pea, she is like a cow print dog, and the boy is black with a white patch on the back of his neck. I still need to figure out a good name for him. They're SO playful. Little boy is such a big baby. He didn't want to sleep in his own be... Tue, 28 Oct 2008 17:18:47 EST
