Here's a place to ask questions, offer support or just chat in the wee hours when nothing else seems to work.... SparkPeople Restless Leg Syndrome/Willis Ekbom Disease Team Messageboard New Member--Is anybody home? Looks like this isn't a very active group. I just had another bad night with RLS and came here hoping to find tips. Requip DOES work for me, but I'm pretty much useless the next day with grogginess. Mon, 10 Aug 2020 18:15:51 EST Is this team still active? Hi there,
I suffer from restless legs and iron deficiency anemia. I also have epilepsy and had thyroid cancer. I'm wondering if this team is still active as I would love to find what others are doing to tackle the restless legs. Thu, 3 Dec 2015 09:09:34 EST Trying Something New! Having entered the state of Menopause, I'm finding difficult to take off the weight. So I'm giving Bob Harper's (from The Biggest Loser) Skinny Meals plan a try. Not only do I feel better, but I lost 4 pounds my first week. It is a lot of planning and prep, but totally worth it! Tue, 17 Feb 2015 07:51:01 EST Has anyone found Cymbalta helps their RLS? I've just started taking Cymbalta for depression but have been told that it could either make my RLS much worse or much better. Any experiences? I'm new to this Team Forum I was diagnosed with both Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Restless Leg Syndrome about 17 years ago while spending a night in a Sleep Lab. I've been on various drugs to relieve the symptoms. Within a few minutes of sitting my legs will often "itch" and I start wiggling them back and forth or put my feet up on my toes and jiggle my legs up and down. It is difficult having a nap in the daytime which I sometimes need with other chronic conditions because within minutes of laying down, my legs will... If my foot or feet fall asleep from sitting incorrectly I have RLS symptoms for the rest of the day and sometimes into the next one to two days.

2. I'm new to the team but an old hand (leg) at restless leg syndrome. A lot of people with fibromyalgia seem to get it. I take requip for it and it's been effective for quite a while. One thing that I have noticed is that I absolutely have to take the requip between 8 and 11 or all bets are off. I may try to sleep but my legs twitch a marathon all night long. I wonder...does that count as exercise (just joking, of course!) Tue, 8 Mar 2011 08:46:06 EST Hi! Hi! My name is Sarah and I'm 25. My gramma, my mom, and my aunt have RLS and unfortunately, so do I. Sat, 29 Mar 2008 20:47:05 EST sodium Good morning. In my intro I mentioned that my legs had been horrendously worse since I went on a salt binge last week and that they used to alway be that way before I reformed my eating some. Since then I have flushed out a lot of the fluid retention and I feel a huge difference even in the daytime. Last night I slept more and better. I don't know whether it is related but I definitely feel motivated not to find out the hard way. No more salt attacks.
Ghislaine Fri, 28 Mar 2008 07:04:28 EST what a find! Hi! I'm 52, mother of two grown kids, stepmother of two grown kids, owner of a cat (or is it the other way around?). Had RLS for years including several years of horrible arm movement. I recently went off all prescription drugs I was taking for other things. Used to take Klonopin for this but had to stop for other reasons unfortunately. Last week I went on a salt binge for the first time in two years and now I am going bonkers with this, which led me here...
Ghislaine Mon, 24 Mar 2008 21:32:44 EST Hi---another newbie I'm from the Seattle area. If so, do you have any problems with compulsive behavior?

I've been on Mirapex for almost a year now and I'm finding myself having shopping and food issues that I've never had before. I almost feel like I have ADD along with OCD. Ugh :(

Sun, 20 Jan 2008 08:22:02 EST Worse after exercise??? So yesterday I started week one of the couch to 5K challenge. It wasn't bad other than it was freezing cold and I only got through 20 minutes of the 25 minute challenge before I couldn't feel my ears and my inner ear was hurting (note to self... Wednesday do it inside in the gym!).
Anyways, so after ward my legs were really bad and were having muscle spasms even though I stretched them really good before and after.
Does anyone else have this problem or am I just a freak of nature (... Sun, 6 Jan 2008 14:15:57 EST intro well! the day finally slows down enough for an intro lol.

my name is lizzy, and i've been dealing with rls for several years now. my grandmother and mother had it, and perhaps other relatives as it was fairly inevitable that i would have it, too [then again, there's not much that our medical history DOESN'T have lol]

most of the time i can deal with it and it's no problem, but sometimes it just rears its ugly head and it's hard. i want to ask my doc about mirap... Sat, 5 Jan 2008 22:36:09 EST Houston heebie-jeebies Hello from Houston! I was diagnosed with RLS a few years ago. I've had symptoms for most of my life, but my grandmother always just called it the "heebie jeebies" and I thought it was just a normal symptom of being tired. Little did I know that there were medications for it. I take Requip to control my RLS occasionally, but may start it full-time since it seems the symptoms are getting worse and occur almost every night. I'm glad I found a group of similar folks here on SP. Great to mee... Fri, 4 Jan 2008 23:35:55 EST HI from Illinois I have severe restless leg sydrome and been suffering with it for at least 10 years. I take Mirapex which help a lot, but it is very expensive and I just lost my job and my health insurance. Lately, my symptoms have gotten worse. I sympathize with everyone here. This is a very uncomfortable and sometimes debilitating condition.

Blessing to all.

Candy

Tue, 1 Jan 2008 21:34:38 EST Hi From NC Hello, sorry I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Yvonne or Von for short. I was diagnosed with RLS 10 years ago. Have tried many different meds but the only thing that works for me is Mirapex 3 X a day. Add on Raynauds Disease, Arthritis and horrible bunions and gosh I feel a lot older than 54! But all things I have learned to live with it. I am married 36 years (to the same man!) and work full time plus have a closed aviary business with 25 birds! Gosh I'm making myself tired!! Just ... Mon, 26 Nov 2007 21:11:54 EST So what is working for you? I started this team, because my legs were literally making me crazy! I was power walking daily, and then couldn't sleep at night. I am amazed at the responses I have been getting, here, on a couple of threads where I posted the start of the new team, and privately.

Magnesium. Several people mentioned that has helped them....what is YOUR experience (if any) with it? I still haven't tried it.

My legs have settled down...why? I have never been officially diagnosed with RLS, but for the past 25 years, I've known I had it...It feels like my thigh bones are being tickled...the twitch, the urge to move, the need to stretch.

Until recently, it's never been a big problem. I'd occasionally have difficulty sitting through a concert or theater performance if I was tired, and sometimes when I first went to bed, I would have to get up and walk a little or stretch my thighs to get them to settle down.

L...
