SparkPeople Rolling a Natural 20 Team Messageboard Do you play D&D (Dungeons and Dragons), Hackmaster, World of Darkness, Palladium, other pen and paper, table top, face to face Role playing games? Join us! SparkPeople Rolling a Natural 20 Team Messageboard I've been gone for a long time I first joined Sparkpeople 9-10 years ago, and this was one of the first groups I joined. After a very long and daunting journey through a bad living situation. I've decided it is time to return to the site and hopefully get closer to where I was when I abandoned my first journey because I felt helpless, and hopefully this group can be revitalized and be a part of my new journey. We put a group together using a virtual "fantasy game" table top with live voice chat as our team is scattered across North America.

Been playing WoW on and off, FFIV, DDO, Minecraft, Terraria, Banished (steam games), etc.

My D&D group back in college used to go to a park every Saturday and train with staff and bow-kin(... Wed, 11 Jul 2018 13:53:50 EST howdy howdy my name is mandy i've been playing D&D for about 10 years now on and off. in my current campaign i'm playing a half orc monk (currently level 13) following the way of the stormrider (a home brew monastic tradition my DM crafted for me)
Fri, 29 Jun 2018 00:39:51 EST Hey Guys Just introducing myself here. No need for fanfare :P

I've been DMing D&D 5E for over a year now, mainly on Roll20, and have been loving it. Looking forward to hearing and sharing stories and info and the like with everyone here, while working on developing a healthier lifestyle.

Wishing good luck to everyone in whatever games they're playing :)

438 Wed, 4 Apr 2018 23:56:11 EST newbie Hi everyone. I'm Angela and I'm a second year medical student on the east coast. I've been an on/off user of Spark People and similar sites over the past few years, but since starting medical school, I've found keeping healthy is something I've been struggling with a lot, and I put on quite a bit of weight. I'm looking to regain my activity level and fitness, as well as lose weight, so that I can maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout graduate school into my professional career.
Sat, 29 Jul 2017 11:52:36 EST New game! Name the tavern--keep one word! This is just a little game for us to build community, and to get points for posting!

This is a variation of the "Two words, change one" but in this one we're naming a fantasy inn or tavern.

So I I were to begin in "Red Dragon Inn" you could follow up with "Green Dragon Inn" or "Red Rider Tavern" or something like that. The point is that you need to keep one of the words and change the other. You can use "Inn" or "Tavern" or some other word as meets your fancy.
<B... I don't have a wide variety of games under my belt, but grew up playing D&D with my dad and sisters. We've moved to Roll20 since we live in different areas now. I've also been introduced to Cthulhu games in the past few years.

After getting tired of struggles to lose weight and heal my body and my relationship with food, I decided to approach my body as a Quest and Puzzle to solve. Think about it: A tree would fall if its trunk wasn't solid and stable. Doing core work isn't just about your middle, either. Having a strong core will make you a better runner, surfer, or yogi (or whatever activity you like to do) while improving your posture and balance. Working your core can also protect you from low back pain — and yes, it’ll tone your abs, too. Are yo... Thu, 30 Jul 2015 15:59:16 EST WAKE UP! We're playing in the world of Eberron (translated from D&D to SW) and I am really enjoying it. I'm playing a gnome artificer whose best friend is a war forged. He hasn't thrown me at anything yet, but I've climbed him to get to repairs. I love the simplicity of Savage Worlds rules. The rule book is literally less than a half inch thic... Tue, 14 Apr 2015 20:26:16 EST GM Tips I attended a meeting yesterday by one of my favorite GMs on how to be a "good enough" GM. It was the summary session of a bunch of sessions he held over the last couple of months while I was out of town. It was awesome, and I learned a lot. I'm swamped today, but will post a few of his tips as I have time.

Anyone who has tips to share, for being a better game master, please feel free to share! Mon, 13 Apr 2015 10:50:50 EST Hello to the team A friendly hello to everyone on the team!

I was introduced to RPG's a few years ago and I've been hooked ever since. I started of playing D&D 3.5, but moved into Pathfinder a few campaigns ago and love it! I currently play once a week on Saturdays and love the roleplaying aspect (but you won't hear me complaining about crushing every creature in my path either). I'm excited that Sparkpeople has a community of fellow roleplayers. If anyone here needs a laugh, feels like chatting, or... Wed, 25 Mar 2015 23:55:19 EST Gaming Reports March 2015 Last night I ran my first dungeon adventure.

Perhaps 25 years ago I ran a one-shot from a module. I was so nervous I didn't enjoy it at all, and felt my timing was off, as well as making it too easy for the players. I never wanted to DM again.

I finally got up the nerve to try again, with a story of my own design.

Last night was a BLAST! I began plain D&D back in 1976, DMing since 1979. I have been involved in a LOT of different games in that time, but seemed to always come back home to the D&D base. Went from 'White Box' to Advanced (later called 1st Edition) skipped second, adopted 3rd (added some 3.5 varies to house rules.) Its a lot of fun, and really adds a lot of detail and personality to them. Wed, 13 Aug 2014 00:53:30 EST Healthy Gaming Food I'm sure you all have struggled with the dreaded game night snacks/dinner. Everyone ends up bringing a bunch of junk food to keep them on a sugar high to last through all of the epic battles and action. How have you made changes or are planning to do so?

For me... I can work with that. Hello to all! My name is Jenny. I'm into all things RPG, but my first love will always be D&D - I'm currently DMing two groups and playing in another. I started out playing Advanced Dungeons and Dragons in middle school, then for some reason felt the need to deny my inner nerd girl to surface (in public, anyway) through most of high school. I rediscovered that passion in college when a new acquaintance was running a game with some of my friends. That was years ago, and two months ago I m... I'm currently in a Shadowrun 3rd edition group which I play in and GM every great now and then, as well as a Federation/Empire (Star Fleet Battles) campaign. It's nice to see some fellow gamers. I know I've let myself go and am perpetuating the overweight gamer stereotype which I'd rather not do anymore. I hope to not only enjoy... Thu, 21 May 2009 21:43:23 EST Another Chick in Chainmail Hey there. I just joined SparkPeople and I'm so glad to find a RPG-based SparkTeam! I've been gaming since my late teens, over 20 years now, and all that seat time at the gaming table has taken its toll on my own personal seat. :) Time for me to get in as great a shape as my characters generally are.

I'm currently GMing a D&D 4th ed. campaign, and just picked up the Supernatural (as in the TV show) RPG in which I'll be a player. I've played GURPS, White Wolf, In Nomine, Call of... Thu, 21 May 2009 10:56:26 EST Keith Baker of Eberon D&D Setting Comes to Town! I got introduced to DnD through my friends at school and the bf, so as soon as I get home... my dice are seeing some serious action!
Friend me, I like to read blogs a lot when I have time! A... I've played D&D for 20 years, but the last 10 years have seen me gaming with more regularity. I spent some of that time playing Living Greyhawk (Geoff and Gran March characters). I gave Eberron a shot, but I really didn't get into that world. And in the last year I've played games from Fellowship of the White Star and Witch Hunter (not d20 based). It's been a while since my friends were able to get their schedules to mesh for a decent hom... Wed, 7 May 2008 12:49:10 EST How to Run a BIG Combat I asked this below, but I don't think anyone saw it burried in another thread. :-)

So, what do you all think is the best way to run an epic combat that is satisfying for the players but still manageable for the DM? I've only been in one as a player, and the GM grouped the baddies so that a whole bunch of them would "aid" another so that he was pretty much guaranteed to hit. But, as a player it was a little unsatisfying to see a force of 1000 enemies, but only be hit by 10 attacks.... Wed, 7 May 2008 12:00:28 EST Welcome KYRRDIS Hi and welcome to Rolling a Natural 20! We had a force of approximately 17000 and the opposing force numbered in the hundreds of thousands. The DM had set up some very lose rules for the engagement so naturally I exploited them. During the course of several hours he bashed his puny 250,000 conscripts up against my battle hardened force. When it was all said and done, I lost a total of 1300 troops. Fri, 11 Apr 2008 00:09:14 EST Daily Chit Chat Okay this is an idea I am stealing from another of my teams here. the idea is simple. Lets just talk her about games ideas what is bugging us. It will be a place to vent to commiserate with one another and generally a place where we can keep in touch with each other as we work to get our lives and our health back in our control. Thu, 10 Apr 2008 12:30:08 EST New Player Wanted You know, I could use another player at my twice per month game set in Dark Ages Britain. I live in Durham, NC. Anyone who subscribes here interested? Tue, 8 Apr 2008 23:00:32 EST April Challenge Okay here it is a bit late by a week but I am not good at figuring out challenges. I am going to hit us were it hits home for I have never met a gamer yet who tried to get the sleep they needed. We game longer then we should eat all the wrong and over eat at that. so this all said lets try and get the recommended 8 hours of sleep for though it may not seem like a lot it does effect many things including weight loss and how well our immune system is working.

So lets try and sleep an... Mon, 7 Apr 2008 13:28:02 EST My new D&D Game Starts Tonight I've had a few short campaigns recently but one had been put off for awhile, one was actually a one-shot, and one just hasn't seemed to have clicked.. so we have a new one starting tonight.

I'm really excited about it. It's a third level campaign and I'm playing a different character type that I haven't really played before. I'm playing a Paladin. I feel like they've had way too much hate put on them. Nothing in the rules demands that they be uptight or unpleasant. My goal is ... Fri, 4 Apr 2008 13:14:19 EST Cthullu Game Night So my character is going to be joined tonight by three new people (we gained a PC). I'm really excited about tonight's game!! I forgot to choose my phobias last game, so I chose this week aracnaphobia (I really, REALLY HATE spiders!!!) and bathophobia (fear of deep places). I don't hate deep places, but I am a bit claustraphobic when I'm in the dark, so I figure it'll work. PLUS I don't want my buddies knowing all my REAL fears. LOL

So what night do you guys play? There is another... Fri, 4 Apr 2008 11:15:34 EST Welcome TIMSCOTT5 Hi Tim and welcome to Rolling a Natural 20. Tue, 1 Apr 2008 11:46:39 EST Weekly challenge 3/30/08 to 4/6/08 Lets keep on the nutrition challenge and make this one a bit easier and yet challenging. Lets all try a new fruit or vegetable or meal that we normally would not eat. I find part of the challenge of eating is that I get in a rut and then I am going to fast food because I can not muster the energy to make what I should because I am so uninspired. This can also be trying a new main course ie a vegetarian meal when you are not inclined that way or fish.

Let us know how it goes if you... Sun, 30 Mar 2008 08:01:16 EST Sorry had the flu I apologize for not being around to much this week but I have been flat in my bed sick with the flu. The little bit I was able to check in I did try and keep active but not to my usual posting responding when i could and with only with a line or two then back to bed feeling like I ran a marathon.

I am recovering now not sleeping as much as I have been...which is good as tomorrow is one of my monthly games this being the D&D game where the paladin has annoyed the thief and the mage.... Fri, 28 Mar 2008 12:20:10 EST DnD Dilemma I'm having another issue with the DnD game that I'm running. Basically, the players have stumbled across the baddie that I had inteded to be the big boss of the campaign. So far, they've done a really good job of planning and working together, so I'd like to reward that, but I don't want the rest of the campaign to be a let down.

Here's the set up. The king's magicians accidentally released swarms of demons into the world. The king then summoned the PCs to get rid of the demons... Thu, 27 Mar 2008 14:01:19 EST Serenity Game? I'm going to be playing in a new campaign of the Serenity game. The GM has been working on it for awhile, and he's got lots of stuff already put together, but I'm trying to decide what kind of character to play. Any ideas?

I'm pretty much blank at this point, other than I agreed to play the "first mate". Thu, 27 Mar 2008 13:52:36 EST Welcome Kyrina!!! May as well start earning my keep. Welcome to the team Kyrina! Please everyone make Kyrina feel at home and give her all the support we can. Tue, 25 Mar 2008 18:53:14 EST Weekly Challenge 3/24/08-3/30/08 This week, let's focus again on the nutrition we are putting into our bodies and aim for 4-5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day. Let's add on, though, and also be sure to get 2-3 servings of dairy in, as well. If you are lactose intolerant or unable to get in regular servings of dairy, aim for 2-3 servings of something with significant calcium, or whatever you take in to replace dairy products. Mon, 24 Mar 2008 11:39:44 EST Today's Question I think I may change these "Questions of the Day" to "Questions of the Week", that way everyone can have a chance to answer before a new one goes up.

If you could eat ANYTHING you want (no worries about calories, fat content, or other nutritional or even allergy concerns), but you could only choose ONE meal to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be? Wed, 19 Mar 2008 14:36:06 EST Tuesday's Question of the Day If you could work any job at all, what would it be and why? (No, you can't say NO job.)

This one's easy for me. I'd be a bestselling novelist. I'd love to see my books in print, walk into a Barnes and Noble to do a book reading, talk shop with Stephen King and J.K. Rowling, and know that other people enjoy my stories as much as I do. Tue, 18 Mar 2008 15:18:40 EST Favorite Quotes Movies, Historical etc I am sure my group of friends are not unique in this most gamers tend to do it and that is quote books movies etc when playing games when they fit the situation.

Who does not watch The Princess Bride quoting the lines as they do.

Inconceivable!

You keep saying that word. I do think it means what you think it means.

So lets hear them and remember

I'll be back. Tue, 18 Mar 2008 12:38:25 EST Weekly Challenge 3/16/08-3/21/08 Happy Monday!

This week's challenge comes to us from Carolonyx, who has recently been really been active in getting her TOPS chapter motivated and involved in their weight loss journeys! I think this might be a good challenge for us to reflect on why we are here and where we are going in with our own goals, so I urge you to take a little time to turn this over in your mind, even if you don't share it with us.

Carol's challenge is to sit down with yourself and honestly e... Mon, 17 Mar 2008 11:51:13 EST Monday's Question of the Day Let's say you had all the money you ever needed and then some. How would you use your extra wealth to change the world? Even if you wouldn't "make the world a better place", per se, what would you do with it? Mon, 17 Mar 2008 11:40:49 EST Looking for a Co-Leader Hi, everyone!

As May gets closer and closer, I find that I do not have the kind of time I used to have and I am not online or consequently on SP as much as I used to be. It's mostly weekends where I'm just not able to check in or browse the boards as much as I'd like. As I know it'll only get worse from here on out, I'd like to find a co-leader who would like to help out checking in on the board, making sure new members are greeted right away and being available to help think of ... Mon, 17 Mar 2008 11:15:27 EST Killer Game Master I am just wondering how one handles a gM who throws in super NPC's and gives the players the choice of having evrything done by them or have your charcaters crippled or kill. Wed, 12 Mar 2008 17:37:28 EST Weekly Challenge 3/9/08-3/14/08 Hi everyone! Get ready to start a new week. For this week's challenge I'd like to let everyone have a chance to reflect on their own personal goals and move closer towards meeting them. I realize that sometimes the challenges posted to the team boards don't always reflect what each individual is working towards at that particular time, so this week I want to let you customize your challenge.

Let's make this a Power Week and really go at it, shall we? Let's take the time to get ... Sat, 8 Mar 2008 23:30:47 EST Help with a gaming concept? I'm designing a character class for Craydle, and I'd like some help with designing their special abilities. My system is pretty heavily based on the Deadlands system, if any Deadlands players care to weigh in.

The class is called The Offspring. They are genetic super-soldiers. Players playing an Offspring are going to get a strange mesh of magic and technology. Offspring are genetically tailored with a computer system called an AI Comp, which, via nanotechnology, exists almost... Thu, 6 Mar 2008 15:31:02 EST Do A Little More Today -- Jenna's Challenge Thanks, Jenna, for this challenge in memory of Gary Gygax (for more, see the Gary Gygax RIP and Gary Gygax Passes This Mortal Coil Threads).

We're gamers and let's face it: we're a little more vulnerable to sloth and snacking because of our choice in hobby. Gwalchmai brought up a GREAT point in the Gary Gygax RIP thread: We don't want to finish up our lives early just because we like to sit around a table and roll dice, snacking and slacking off with our friends.

So, Je... Wed, 5 Mar 2008 12:16:11 EST Gary Gygax Passed Away, RIP It is with a sad heart that I report that Gary Gygax passed away yesterday at 69. Many of you might already have heard this news in other forums, but I felt a need to say something here because Mr. Gygax has touched all of us.

Mr. Gygax had a very full and accomplished life, but on the other hand, 69 is still a little young. I do not have details about how he died, but we all know that the hobby he gave us also comes with a lot of bad habits. As great as it is an intellectual pu... Tue, 4 Mar 2008 22:39:17 EST Hello everyone Hello there,

I joined the team a few weeks ago but due to work sending me out of the country for several weeks I haven't had a chance to introduce myself until now.

I joined Sparkpeople back in Oct 06 a few weeks after my wife signed up and stuck with everything until Christmas that year. By that point I had lost 30 lbs and thankfully all of the good habits that I learned stuck with me and I did not gain any of the weight back that I had lost. In January of this year I... Tue, 4 Mar 2008 18:58:35 EST Gary Gygax Passes This Mortal Coil Just heard the Gary Gygax one of the co-founders of D&D has passed away today of a stomach aneurysm. I am not sure how to feel about this news...I have had differences of opinion over things that Mr Gygax has written in the past in Dragon magazine still he was one responsible for my hobby and for that I am grateful. So rest well Mr gygax and thanks for the adventures and the flights of fantasy you have given me over the years. Tue, 4 Mar 2008 15:10:59 EST Weird West -- Lexi's BEST SESSION EVER! (long) Okay, so I posted the whole story of last night's session, but it turned out to be the LONGEST POST EVER (which is weird, considering the session itself only lasted 5 hours and was taken up almost entirely with a single battle). So I cut and paste it to my Blog. Suffice it to say, though, that my little preacher finally came into her own.

What isn't said in the blog (it was already too long) is that by the end of the session, I was able to buy Lexi's Faith (her key skill) up to a... Tue, 4 Mar 2008 12:21:51 EST Thoughts on a New World System??? I'm writing my second original RP world (called "Craydle") in hopes that my group will want to switch over to it soon. We're losing Ken so we'll either have to stop playing Hell on Earth and try this new game or continue HOE with a new GM.

In any case, I want this world and system to be bright, shiny and new for the players, something they have no prior OOC knowledge of so they can experience everything fresh for the first time. I love Deadlands, but having already discovered mos... Mon, 3 Mar 2008 15:29:37 EST Weekly Challenge 3/2/08-3/8/08 Happy March, everyone! Great job on last week's challenge; I'll bet getting in all those extra minutes felt good! I know I was really proud of getting in 15 minutes a day, every day, even if it was just walking to the store instead of driving.

This week's challenge is nutrition-related again. The goal is to stay within your calorie count EVERY DAY, and get your 8 glasses of water in, too. Post to let us know if you were in for the day, or if you were over or under. You don't h... Mon, 3 Mar 2008 11:58:02 EST And then the Paladin! Yesterday was game day! We got our experience first and I was happy to find I had gone from 1st to 3rd level. our GM is very nice and that means we get full hit points till 3rd level so next level is roll for them and pray the dice like you.

We started the morning after fighting 20 hobgoblins that seem along with kobolds, ogres, orcs all the usual suspects over running this area. We are after a holy relic to help cure a plague that has hit our town from a temple in a neighbouring k... Sun, 2 Mar 2008 18:26:54 EST March Challenge! Okay, everyone, time for a new monthly challenge! For March, pick a physical "Stat", like strength or nimbleness, that you would like to improve. Over the course of the month, keep us posted on how you are working to improve that "stat"! This does not have to correspond to any character you are playing (although it can if you want!); it can be whatever YOU want to improve about YOUR skills and abilities!

Your improvement goal doesn't have to be huge. Choose a reasonable target ... Fri, 29 Feb 2008 19:52:26 EST D&D last night, temples and traps That was a fun game of D&D last night. We found the temple of the orb we were looking for, but the undead were right outside, and the wall of stone we used to seal off the doorway wasn't going to last for long. Before we could get the orb, we had a classic elemental trap temple - fire, water (cold), air (lightning), earth (acid) and mortal (physical damage). I think everyone got a chance to shine - the Barbarian used her massive HP to waltz through the physical room, the Ranger used an ada... Thu, 28 Feb 2008 11:16:50 EST Weekly Challenge 2/24/08-3/1/08 Okay, everyone, CONGRATS to those who kept up with last week's fruits and veggies challenge! The flu screwed up my whole week, so sadly I didn't make it... or anywhere NEAR it. 20

This week let's concentrate on getting some physical activity in EVERY day. Shall we try for at least 15 minutes of activity each day? If 15 minutes is too much you can go for 10, but push yourself for as much as you can!
Sun, 24 Feb 2008 19:29:31 EST weeeeeeeeeeeee! So a friend is coming over and we get to play some 4th ed. I'm so excited! We dont have access to everything, I think this is an RPGA related playtest

weeeeeee! Fri, 22 Feb 2008 18:26:26 EST Game Journals Hey out there! I am a copious note taker. My GM is horrible about not re-issuing information... if you don't make a note, you might not remember! That note taking has evolved over the years into game journals, most of which are written in the voice and hand of the character involved. I have a shelf in the library dedicated to journals from past games, they look like the motley collection that they are because once they are done I tend to bind them up to look like said journal (okay... I'm... Fri, 22 Feb 2008 12:54:08 EST Character Lines / Battle Cries Have any of your characters, or fellow players used memorable lines? do they have a battle cry? use really bad quotes?

I think most every group says don't split up the party, or look up look down look all around. That's not what I'm looking for.

20 years ago, a player said "Bubba says ick". Now, whenever something bad happens in a game or in real life those of us that were there still say "Bubba says ick". Even people who weren't there have started using the line.
... Fri, 22 Feb 2008 10:10:04 EST Pick Up Games A friend dropped by yesterday escaping his apartment visiting for the evening. After dinner we had a quick pick up game of 2nd edition AD&D. It was fun and exciting and at the end my friend asked.

"Why are these games so much more fun then the long term thought out campaign?"

Have the rest of you had this experience. is it that if it is short term we as GM's are more willing to let more slide in favor of the fun element. Is it that we pull out some of our wildest ideas a... Fri, 22 Feb 2008 09:18:48 EST Hello, I'm new to SP... but not to gaming. *grin* Hello all,
I'm new to SparkPeople, just joined this week. It's great to see so many gamers looking to improve their health. I know many of my gaming groups are doing the same... especially now that most of us are in the 30's and 40's.

I am 35, from Columbus, OH. I've played many, many different gaming systems. I really don't have a favorite system, as the benefits of each are enhanced or detracted by the particular game.

Unfortunately, most of my games are o... Wed, 20 Feb 2008 09:30:42 EST 2/17/08-2/23/08 Weekly Challenge This one's going up a day late, sorry for that. Just means you get Sunday off!

This week, let's concentrate on our fruit and veggie intake. I know I for one NEVER get the right amount unless I'm paying real good attention to my food!

There's some disagreement on what constitutes the correct amount of fruit and vegetable servings. For the purpose of this challenge I'm going with 5-7 servings a day of either/or fruits and veggies. You're welcome to use a different reco... Mon, 18 Feb 2008 11:40:41 EST PBP D&D 3.5 Campaign, Arithia: Players Wanted I'm looking for 2-3 more players for a play by post game I've recently started. Current players are either new to D&D or played a long time ago. Additional players can be of any gaming experience level but regular posting is a must. If you are not familiar with the site or PBP in general, I don't mind working with you through AIM, gTalk or yahoo.

Please keep in mind I am new to DMing (though not playing); constructive criticism is appreciated. Sat, 16 Feb 2008 17:08:08 EST Greetings from a cross-genre geek Don't have much time to answer questions and get into the challenges at the moment, but I can at least throw out a brief introduction.

I live in the Seattle area. I play once a week on Friday nights with a really great group. We usually spend 4-6 weeks with a genre and then swith up allowing for multiple campaigns in multiple systems with any of the 5 folks who GM regularly.

I've been gaming 25 years and that makes me the least experienced of our GMs and possibly of al... Fri, 15 Feb 2008 12:05:40 EST 10 Fun Things About Your Game Just like 10 Random things about you, tell us 10 fun details about the campaign you're currently playing. If you're in more than one, you can post more than once if you like, or if you're not currently in any campaign you can post about a past campaign. Fri, 15 Feb 2008 11:33:04 EST 10 Random Things About You I've adopted this from my Bride Challenge Group, but I think it's fun!

Just list 10 things, any 10 things at all, that you would like to share about you. Thu, 14 Feb 2008 17:19:44 EST Crack-Ups We all know we can have some pretty hilarious moments at the gaming table. Here are a few of our recent ones in Hell on Earth.

Angel (my loco undead), often thinks she is speaking with the members of her former party (who are 200 years in the ground by now and never really "there" for her to speak to). Coming upon a man in a similar position as she (walking the earth for 200 years, hunting Servitors to turn back the Apocalypse), she is immediately distrustful of him, especially w... Tue, 12 Feb 2008 16:02:04 EST Game Night Follies Use this post to tell us about your most recent game session!

In last night's Hell On Earth (set in the future, post-apocalyptic wild-western and supernatural-horror), we went up against a servitor, or in other words, a Really Big Bad. This one was called The Devourer, and you can probably guess what it did to get that moniker.

Well, I've already posted a long blog on my Sparkpage regarding the nitty-gritty details (and some player frustration related to the game), but ... Tue, 12 Feb 2008 12:31:06 EST Welcome New Gamers! Get Started Here! Hi and welcome to Rolling a Natural 20! To go ahead and get started, whip us up a quick new topic (you can title it "Hi, I'm New" or something to that effect) and let us get to know you! Tell us what games you like, what archetypes, or anything at all! We're looking forward to getting to know you! Tue, 12 Feb 2008 12:16:02 EST The end and a new beginning. Well yesterday was the end of the campaign my gaming group has been playing for the past 19 months. Our game master had expected at least half of us to die..please think of a new character chat the game before.

Well we were given an hour to plan and then we started the epic battle and we kicked ass. Earlier we had run into 1st ed monks unbeknownst to us and four members had been touch and fortunately all made their saving throws against death magic, Quivering palm sucks so the GM's... Sun, 10 Feb 2008 09:35:22 EST 2/10/08 - 2/16/08 -- Weekly Challenge This week's challenge is very simple: get your 8 cups of water in every day. Sat, 9 Feb 2008 16:26:37 EST Feb 2008 Challenge Get into Character and Get into Shape!

For our first monthly challenge, let's get a little closer to our characters while expanding our fitness horizons. Think of your character's fighting style -- is he or she a martial artist? A brawler? A mage who attacks at range? Then think about the real-life equivalent to your character's fighting style or the training he or she would have gone through to become the fighter he or she is. Boxing? Wrestling? Tae Kwon Do? Yoga?
... Sat, 9 Feb 2008 16:13:23 EST Favorite Campaign Ever!!! Okay we all have had them that one campaign we never forget it was epic and funny and fun and everyone who played when we get together reminisce about this game. Lets hear about them people 244 !!

Mine was the kolbold holy war. i was playing a lawful good drow cleric (long before that other drow people) named Ebonstar.

the game started with one lone little kolbold arriving outside the city gates one evening just after the gates closed setting up a tent and doin... Thu, 7 Feb 2008 09:19:03 EST DnD Last Night Well, my players decided to go back up against the Gluttony demons that killed two PCs last time. They thought that with their fancy new holy weapons they would have a better chance. Unfortunately for me, they did.

They killed the first one in three rounds...The second one was higher level so that took a few more rounds and some lucky critical hits...The third one was also higher level (the same as the second one) but they finished it off almost as fast as the first one, somehow.... Wed, 6 Feb 2008 13:04:40 EST Newbie wave Wow! I am so excited I found this team!

I don't even know where to start on introducing myself. I'm Khlara, I've been roleplaying for 11 years now. Right now I'm in a D&D 3.5 game on Tuesdays, a modified d20 Star Wars game on Wednesday, and a "we're not sure what we're doing yet" game on Saturday. The Saturday game was originally my Serenity game which I had ran for 2 years.

One of my problems is gaming and food. The Tuesday game is held at a house where they usually hav... Thu, 31 Jan 2008 17:17:06 EST Character Race suggestion I have to create a new character for a Realms dnd game. I know I want to play a fighter, probably going the dex-based route.
We'll be first level. I don't want to play a race out of the PHB because I've done that before and I want something a little different. Does anyone have any suggestions for me??? Wed, 30 Jan 2008 12:00:05 EST Shadowrun Character Concept Hi All,

I'm working on a backup character to my current Shadowrun character. I might have to switch characters if some "irreconcilable differences" can't be reconciled, so I thought I would make the new character, just in case. I know I want to do another shaman, probably focusing on conjuring spirits.

I thought I would see if any of you are familiar with the system and have any good ideas that I should try out or things that I should think about. I don't know much ab... Mon, 28 Jan 2008 11:47:13 EST Having the Gaming Jones It's been well over a month since the last time I've been able to have a tabletop gaming session, even with just my husband and myself. We want to play but something always seems to get in the way. Last week it was working out rather than gaming (kind of at my insistence.) Last night it was a trip to the ER for me (everything is relatively ok, just some major back pain that could have been - but wasn't - kidney stones and a very early pregnancy). And, unfortunately, weekend nights are the ... Sun, 20 Jan 2008 07:09:33 EST off-track gamers I might just explode! Last night my players couldn't keep their head in the games to save my life, or any of theirs. I wanted to scream... but I didn't. I wanted to kill all of the their characters and start a new game. ... but i didn't.

RArrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Thank you all for allowing me to rant and rave... I hate people who don't take game night at least a little bit seriously.... Wed, 16 Jan 2008 17:14:23 EST Last Night's Hell On Earth Session I like sharing funny or smile-worthy moments from our RP sessions with people, so I'll give you a quick glimpse at some of last night's. Knowing that not a lot of people have played Hell On Earth, I'll try to make the descriptions as generic and understandable as possible.

Funny highlights from last night's session:

My character (the paranoid undead hexslinger) mistook our party's Psycher/Junker for her ancient enemy and threw him in front of the session's first Big Bad... Tue, 8 Jan 2008 18:34:54 EST Yay! Game Day! Hurray! Hell On Earth for the first time in a month! We had to take time off for our GM's extra days at work and then the holidays. We finally get to get back in the game!

I have to spend a little time getting back into character. To get into Angel's head I usually listen to music like "Ghost Riders In The Sky" or Idina Menzel's "A Hero Comes Home". How do you get into character? Mon, 7 Jan 2008 01:13:58 EST Celebratory 'Victory Laps' and other challenges Here's a thought on how to fit in a little extra 'umph' in a gaming situation.

We all know that the biggest challenges to weight loss in a gaming environment are two-fold:
1) We sit on our butts for hours on end.
and
2) We eat NASTY snacks at the table.

Here are a few ways to battle these at YOUR gaming table:
-Every notable achievement earns a 'Victory Lap.' While the adrenaline from that Nat 20 Crit is still flowing, do 5 quick reps: Jumping jacks,... Fri, 4 Jan 2008 14:18:42 EST Indie Gaming? Is anyone else here into the Indie Gaming scene? My husband and I have gotten fairly heavy into the gaming scene. He plays a lot more than I do because he has more time for online gaming, but we have a couple of one-on-one games going on.

The three games that we've been playing the most are Burning Wheel, Dogs in the Vineyard and Breaking the Ice. There are a few others that I'm interested in checking out, like Polaris. Has anyone else had experience with some of the Indy Games... Tue, 1 Jan 2008 09:53:24 EST D&D 4edition Hi all, I like to know if anyone has any thoughts or opinions on the new d&d 4E thats coming out in the summer. I don't know much about it myself but would like to know what you think. Mon, 31 Dec 2007 21:17:23 EST Who are you I have quite a few characters, but in the game I am playing now I have an elf cleric/wizard of Mystra named Eledwhen Silverfyre and an Aasimar cleric of Suni named Sara Love. I don't think I could pick a favorite I love them all. Thu, 27 Dec 2007 18:53:36 EST Hi I'm New Hi, It's so nice to find a team of fellow gamers. I'm a long time DnD Forgotten Realms Player. Our group has play tested a few adventures for Dungeon Crawl Classics. I'm happy to be a part of this team.

Thu, 27 Dec 2007 18:37:36 EST Coming up WIth A New Battle System So I'm writing a new game I call Craydle, but I have a terrible time with the battle system. I don't want to just rip-off the Deadlands battle system (in order to avoid copyright issues in case we decide to publish the game), but I can't think of a system I like as much.

The Deadlands system is as follows: the players roll their quickness stat and draw a number of cards from the deck based on their roll. A roll of 5 nets them two cards, and another card for every 5 more, up to a ... Fri, 14 Dec 2007 02:10:35 EST Who are You? Hello! I wanted to know who everyone plays, and if you play multiple games/characters, who is your favorite to play?

If you saw my post on the Gaming Talk board, you saw I have a preacher/monster hunter for Deadlands, The Wierd West, and an undead witch in Deadlands, Hell On Earth. I have a bunch of other charries for games that are in limbo at the moment, but the Hell On Earth character is definetely my favorite of them all. Her name is Angel, and she originated in the Wierd We... Mon, 10 Dec 2007 19:47:34 EST Rock band Anyone tried Rock Band yet?

...

I'm a rock star :D Sat, 8 Dec 2007 04:03:40 EST Hi, I'm new! Hello! I'm new here, and I'm SO GLAD I found an RPer's Team! This is awesome!

I started RPing with a group playing the Pinnacle Games' title Deadlands, and I still play both the original Deadlands and its sequel, Hell On Earth, on Monday nights with my friends. We are writing a few of our own games, though -- we're already in test-play stages for a game based on a novel I wrote about five nations of demons in the modern world, and my brother and I are both developing new systems... Fri, 7 Dec 2007 13:09:14 EST What is your favorite RPG? I have to say we play DnD and Hackmaster the most, but I really like playing WoD werewolves a lot. Maybe I will start a campaign for that. Tue, 30 Oct 2007 13:51:49 EST Gaming Talk I thought that I would start a general chat thread so that we can talk about what goes good and what goes bad, or just about gaming in general. :-) Fri, 26 Oct 2007 11:34:04 EST Gaming Challenge Here is the challenge:
1. Drink 2 servings of water for every 12 oz. of soda.
2. Bring healthy snacking options and eat those.
3. Find a reason to stand up and walk around every couple of hours for 10 minutes.
4. Share with your group the healthy eating choices. Everyone deserves baby carrots. 211 Sat, 20 Oct 2007 09:11:39 EST Hi gamers You know, it is hard to get out there and be healthy when you are in a game where everyone is eating chips and drinking Mountain Dew, believe me I know!

I am Adikio, and currently I am in 2 D&D 3.5 games, and a Hackmaster game. I have also played in World of Darkness games, and several others. I am only in one gaming group, so we play alternating games on alternating weeks.

Let's find out about you and your games!
