Thu, 6 Aug 2009 11:12:37 EST What made you choose a spaniel? Thought this might be interesting to see why we chose a spaniel over any other breed.

for me, I grew up with a springer spaniel, then we had english cockers...have stuck with them ever since. Tue, 4 Aug 2009 21:08:42 EST Walking the Dog So does everyone regularly walk their dog (or does the dog walk you)? How far? Fri, 31 Jul 2009 15:53:29 EST Ouch! I've been bit! So I know Ijust joined the team, but I'm hitting a obstacle already. I went to my folks lake house this weekend with my friends and their dogs. My best friends dog attacked my dog with no warning. My friend and I tried to split them up and I stupidly put my hands on their mouths. When I did this Oliver immediately stopped and my friends dog grabbed onto my hand and wouldn't let go. It really hurt and was really scary. and now I'm all bandaged up and can't work out. totally hitting me o... Tue, 21 Jul 2009 11:52:20 EST Summertime fun with your dogs This weekend I got a new bike. Well, second-hand, but new to me. And since I much prefer biking to running, I figured I'd find a way to incorporate my dogs into my biking. I went to the pet store and bought a "Springer" attachment for the bike. This allows the dog to run with me safely - it keeps the dog out of the way of the bike, and it has a safety release so that if they go around a post or try to run away from something, they are released instead of injured.

I have three d... Mon, 6 Jul 2009 10:59:20 EST Keeping an eye on my dogs! I was surfing the net when I checked what was going on in my town via the local news station. I read a news story that alarmed me. This was kind of graphic.

The story was about animal cruelty and that a small dog was found with its head cut off and other terrible things done to it. Some kids saw a person in a pick up truck dump the animal. Besides this being an awful cruel thing to do to an innocent animal, it happened in my part of town. It didn't give the exact location, but... Thu, 2 Jul 2009 21:50:40 EST July 4th is around the corner...... Do your dogs go nuts when the fireworks start going off?

My dogs don't like it when it first starts, but eventually they ignore it. Of course, these are just the neighborhood fireworks, but is anyone near a place where they set them off? I will have some, probably this weekend to end the month of Point Place Days, that will be set off about a mile down the road. They may get a little more nervous because they will be the very loud.

Hope everyone has a great holida... Thu, 25 Jun 2009 21:14:58 EST Loud mouth Cocker I have a wonderful(when he wants to be) Cocker Spaniel. I adopted him almost a year ago from the pound, he was roughly 18 months at the time. He likes to take walks but the other people are afraid of him b/c he barks and growls at them. I thought he was being aggressive but when someone gives him the chance he just drools on them and then lays on their feet. Do anyone have any advice so he will stop scaring people? Sun, 14 Jun 2009 22:40:35 EST Welcomed Guests to the Backyard I've had a couple of visitors to my backyard the last couple of days. I had a female mallard duck show up under my birdfeeders enjoying the seed, mostly cracked corn, that I left out for the birds. She showed up by herself on Tues and Weds, but today she brought the male with her. He actually stayed in the yard behind mine and stood guard while she flew over and ate.

The dogs where going nuts, inside the house, because they could smell them and did happen to see them in the ya... Thu, 4 Jun 2009 10:37:19 EST How expensive is your vet? I called to schedule one of my dogs for the annual check up. Sophie needs 2 updates, plus a heatworm test and a fecal test. This would cost $150. Probably would be the same for Murphy. I know last year it cost me about $300 for both. I can't afford to take both at the same time, so I am now staggering their visits.

Last year they would not let me be billed or pay half that day and half the next week when I got paid. They said I couldn't do this because I had issues previous... Tue, 26 May 2009 18:55:14 EST Hungry Girl Cookbook My sister gave me a copy of the new HG 200 Recipes under 200 Calories cookbook. That made me very happy. I was .4 away from making my 10% goal. That was very depressing. I just knew I was going to reach that goal today. Oh well, there is always next week. How is everyone else doing? Sun, 26 Apr 2009 17:23:13 EST Kasey - A special Girl I really wanted a spaniel, we had a collie/spaniel mix when I was a child back in England and the only other dog I saw close to his markings was the King Charles - so I fell in love with them and wanted one.

Wanted one that is until me and my husband started volunteering at the local shelter. I am relatively new to SP but have 2 wonderful CKC Spaniels -- Fergie (6) and Maggie(4). They are my morning walk motivators. As soon as they see the last of our 4 children board the bus they encourage me to take them for a walk. It was 20 degrees Friday with 30 mph winds and we walked and they didn't seem to mind a bit. What faithful little motivators they are! Sat, 21 Feb 2009 20:30:15 EST What is your dogs favorite toy? We bought him from a "breeder" locally, who had to "sell off the litter quickly" in order to pay for a surgery for her pitt bull who had been hit by a car. Fri, 1 Aug 2008 23:52:18 EST Greatest American Dog Is anyone watching Greatest American Dog? I really like Bill and his Brittany Spaniel, Star. We have some Brittany owners on our team.
I got inspired and ordered some agility equipment for Riley. I also found his favorite frisbees at Walmart. The regular ones are too hard for him to catch, these are really soft. But they also tear up very easily. I can only find them in the summer so I bought 5(only $1ea) He's going to love the equipment I think. 200 Sun, 27 Jul 2008 21:22:14 EST New and ready to get started. Mind if I join this group? I have 4 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Also one dachshund. Actually my two grown children's dogs are in this mix. Soon my daughter will take her Cavalier to live with her in her new apartment. Maisy was one of two puppies born to my Daisy. Charli is like Maisy's twin sister so I think the two girls will leave together. Shiner the dachshund is here waiting for her daddy, my son, to move to an apartment that allows pets. And there is Beatrix, my tri color Cavalier. Sun, 29 Jun 2008 16:39:54 EST Pepper Almost got a new big sister... Today I almost adopted another cocker spaniel named Chloe. Someone had dumped her on a road. She ended up at the humane society, and when I saw her I fell in love. She was so pretty. She is 9 years old, but she didn't look it or act it. She was black and brown and as sweet as can be. All the tulips and pear trees are blooming here. We can't plant annuals until Mothers Day here. Thu, 24 Apr 2008 21:32:30 EST Bird Dogs Do any of you take your spaniels bird hunting? Lily has gone pheasant hunting with me the last 2 years. . .she started to figure out what is going on this past fall. I thought I would start a new topic on the funny things our doggies do. . . I have a bunch, but here's one of my favorite stories,

Lily gets pretty 'vocal' and one night we were playing and she was yapping pretty loudly, I told her "Use your inside voice!" and she kept yapping, but at a much lower volume! I can't imagine not having one around. He is not fond of my birds, but they are out of reach to him. He is not a hunter. Will chase robins in the yard and bunnies out of the yard. He is terrified of fireworks and jumps in the bathtub when they are shot off. Quite the breed of dog!!!
