(I'm a little shy and self-conscious - even online.) My friend told me about SparkPeople and I'm really glad that she did. I have found it to be an invaluable tool in managing nutrition and fitness records; it's the most comprehensive and user-friendly site that I've ever found. Anyway, just stopped by to say 'hi' - FINALLY. =)

-Amy Tue, 25 Jan 2011 14:33:03 EST How Physics Changed My Life
ournal_individual.asp?blog_id=3948062

A blog I wrote, SEM Enthusiasts appreciate :) Fri, 21 Jan 2011 16:34:01 EST Spring 2011 Classes If you're still in school...

what classes are you taking this semester? I'm joining up because I love math and science and computers. I earned my degree in chemistry about 7 years ago; tutor in chemistry, physics, and math; and work as a front end (transitioning to back end) web developer. I am definitely a geek - but I also love to have fun. Wed, 15 Dec 2010 14:57:17 EST Integration by Parts: An Odyssey I'm in Calculus II at my university, and I have a professor whose teaching is... inconsistent. I'm rather slow at math. I have to see things written out, step by step (including basic arithmetic and algebra) and explained in plain English in order to understand it, which puts me behind sometimes. Well, this professor taught us integration by parts way back. There is one solitary math major in my class who raised his hand and in a very coy, know-it-all manner said, "Couldn't you use the tabula... Thu, 9 Dec 2010 18:39:43 EST December Challenges So December can be a really hard time of the year for food and exercise. Between the cold, lack of day light and the goodies EVERYWHERE staying on track can be hard. So Post your plan and self challenges here and keep us posted.

Loren Sun, 28 Nov 2010 07:57:36 EST 11-10-2010 Spark down for maintance. From Spark Coach Nancy"

FYI... Since I seem to have some kind of flu, the question arose, how do you handle your diet and exercise when you are sick? I have been sticking with the diet plan as much as my body will allow. However, just walking from the car to the classroom winds me at the moment, so I'm certainly not working out. I feel like a week from exercise will slide me back from what I have been working so hard for. I'm up to day 3 and the symptoms have just changed, not abated. Any thoughts? Tue, 2 Nov 2010 11:10:27 EST November Challenge State your self challenge(s) here and keep us updated as the month goes on.

Loren Thu, 28 Oct 2010 16:55:58 EST Doing something you haven't done before So on Saturday I am running my first marathon. That got me thinking I wonder what others have done this year or will by years end.

So in 2010 (happened or too be) what have you done (will do) that you have never done before?

Loren Wed, 13 Oct 2010 19:37:17 EST Question ~ Do you get hungry after exercising? will pose this question (here and in several other places).

Do you get hungry after exercising?

I ask because my wife is always hungry afterwards...and it seems many people are. However, for myself, I find after exercising I am even less hungry. Is that strange? Sat, 9 Oct 2010 10:55:47 EST Rewards Like many people, family celebrations have become a reason to go out to dinner. This simply isn't going to work any more. If someone in your family does something amazing how do you congratulate or reward them? It is easy enough to find rewards for yourself for reaching a milestone. What I can't figure out is what to do as a family if someone does something wonderful. Feedback on this would be great so that I can start to change my families habits. Thu, 7 Oct 2010 18:05:49 EST What brings me here I am a college student that is headed to graduate school to specialize in Mariculture. I am tired of being uncomfortable in my skin. I will be in the water a lot and don't want to hate getting into a bathing suit every time I need to do it. I would also love to be able to keep up with my very energetic 6 year old and be as playful as I used to be. I look forward to ...
