Hello, assuming anyone is here... :) Just wanted to intro myself, poke around a bit and see what's going on. Been on SP for years, only became involved in mid-2015. Here frequently, let me know if I can help in any way.

Just call me Kevin (I'm assuming Grand Poobah, Exaltedness, and Overseer of All Things are already taken...). Wed, 1 Jun 2016 18:13:45 EST Packable food Next week is a fairly short trip - fly out after lunch on Tuesday, then come home around 11pm on Thursday.

I'm bringing the single serving oatmeal cups, KIND bars, Clif bars, 100-calories popcorn bags, protein powder, and a black bean quinoa salad that I hope (fingers crossed!) will travel well.

I've planned one meal at my home airport (there's an outstanding salad shop) and one meal at the away airport (also a salad, but one with a tasty dressing rather than a low-fat... Thu, 12 Nov 2015 21:55:36 EST New member seeks help 4 conferences & banquets Normally standing at work in retail, sitting at 3 day conferences bursts my willpower with planned breaks, late nite banquets, et al. Any suggestions to avoid coffees and sodas breaks and such a welcome relief and visiting time? Sun, 14 Jun 2015 09:23:43 EST What are you travelling plans for 2015? I have lots of Europe, 5 trips to China, 1 to the USA, 1 to India on the books. But the best thing.... I am home until end of February before it all kicks off again. Thu, 8 Jan 2015 08:49:18 EST 60% Metropolitan, 40% Isolated I work in the Canadian oil & gas industry and travel to our offices in the oil sands about 6-9 days a month. I stay in a camp in the isolated oil sands.

They try very hard to make the cafeteria choices healthy, but the variety, quality and flavour is still horrendous. And as one of very few women in a camp full of men, you couldn't pay me to go to the gym! Thu, 1 Jan 2015 11:20:25 EST New to Group Hi all,

My name is Nic and I'm an international flight attendant for a major. Sadly, while we get to eat some great food abroad, exercise and proper eating are the last things on my mind. I recently had a heart attack at the startling age of 45, I CANNOT live with heart disease. After this wake-up call, I am on the right road to get healthier and leaner. I will listen well to the advice of fellow travelers and hopefully gain some good ideas to help.

Cheers, Happy Tha... Tue, 18 Nov 2014 11:27:10 EST Eating healthy in hotels A couple of months ago, I changed my eating lifestyle to be based on a whole-food, plant-based diet. Here is my strategy for maintaining that lifestyle while living in hotel rooms without kitchens.

ng-a-whole-foods-plant-based-diet-whil
e-traveling/
Fri, 1 Aug 2014 12:21:42 EST Getting started... eating healthy while traveling I travel full-time, and I have been gaining weight consistently since I have had this traveling job. However, I have turned that around recently!

Turning 40 last year was a bit depressing because I felt overweight and unhealthy... Like my prime time was over. Also, I had to choose between losing weight and buying a new "fat clothes" wardrobe. I live out of a suitcase, so I would have had to give away or sell all my old clothes to replace them with the new fat clothes. I didn't ... Thu, 24 Jul 2014 09:36:56 EST Already Loosing Hello,
My name is Myra. I started here at Sparkpeople weighing anywhere from 200-215. I am now at 197 but had got down to 192.4 but a friend from out of town came. She was here only 6 days but I went out to eat three times. It would have been four but luckily I had homework do that first day. All this week, I have been exercising almost daily. I want to do at least one more exercise today to get complete the week. Sun, 30 Mar 2014 15:51:56 EST Let's Start 2013 Off Right New Year's is a time for reflection and goal setting (many people call it resolutions - but they really are goals). One important thing about resolutions is that they tend to be one or two things - not a mountain of goals. They may be something like - get more exercise or lose weight or spend more time without TV. It is the narrowing of the resolution that is important.

So what is your key resolution for the year? Fri, 28 Dec 2012 09:30:48 EST An Everyday Challenge For those of us that travel - checking in with sparkpeople each day is a challenge in and of itself. Forget - the 10 minute workouts, tracking the food and findin other challenges. Just finind the internet and time to do a daily check in sometimes can be daunting. I am going through a career transition - so it is even more difficult to stay on track - so I thought this challenge would help us all. - Respond with did you check in and how many points on the well. Tue, 11 Dec 2012 07:36:24 EST November Challenge Sorry, I haven't been online - I have been on the road for all of the month of October - only 3 days were at home. While I was successful in that I managed to keep up with exercise - and only gained a couple of pounds. But could be water - as my salt intake was awful. Portion size - when attending holiday parties... Sat, 3 Nov 2012 09:44:18 EST Tracking challenges Hi everyone, I am new to sparkpeople and new to this team. I often travel for work and am having issues tracking.

This past week I spent 8 hours on trains, one night in a hotel, and ate at restaurants for 4 meals. This for me is a particular problem. I have no idea how to track food in restaurants. I don't live in America, therefore don't eat in chain restaurants with published nutrtion details and never fast food restaurants. One lunch I picked salmon tartare. I thought, raw salm... Sat, 29 Sep 2012 03:08:56 EST October Challenge - 15 minute workouts on the road Don't know about you but I am traveling alot this month - so I need some motivation to keep up with the exercise program in hotels. So let's see if we can fit 3 - 15 minutes exercise sessions per week - Fri, 28 Sep 2012 06:25:46 EST Sept. Mon, 2 Jul 2012 08:57:30 EST July Challenge - 15 minutes of exercise per day Did not get any ideas - so am putting out a challenge -

For the month of July - set a goal of 15 minutes of exercise in a creative way per day.
Could be - taking the stairs in the hotel. Mon, 25 Jun 2012 08:58:31 EST Dealing with airline and car seats, bad chairs, .. OK - the older I get the harder it is to travel. Airline and car seats are not the most comfortable. Conference chairs have been designed by sadists. And, unless you have done some preplanning or know the type of bed in the hotel - beds can be a challenge as well.

For me it adds up to stress in my back and depending on what is happening - I can be almost crippled by the time I end my trip. I have found some relief with acupuncture (which is better than massage) - and use chair ... Thu, 24 May 2012 10:04:16 EST Road food pit falls - What is the one thing that you have a terrible time passing up while traveling?

For me it is onion rings (and salty snacks) - How do I combat them - lots of water, and some preplanning. Other suggestions? Mon, 21 May 2012 07:06:14 EST How do you plan for a trip? Next week I am in New Orleans - which means lots of good food. So I am doing some pre planning. I am taking some snacks (to stay away from the "contential breakfast bar" at the conference - although - croisants are a killer for me - so will be doing some pre-research). Also will be looking for a go to serving size and food - chicken/sausage gumbo and salads - to help with those evening meals. Bread is going to be a killer - but I am planning a "foodie" lunch - with a long walk to the rest... Tue, 8 May 2012 08:48:01 EST What is your most difficult food to pass up? For me it is a good onion ring - which is a terrible food for a diet - salty, and high in fat. I really have to watch it - because this one is one of my down falls.

Any ideas for a substitute????? (Typically - I share them with others and this helps! Hi, not sure how active this group is, but thought I would give it a try. I fly every week for work, and eat out for every meal. I believe that anything is possible... even losing 20 lbs while working this crazy lifestyle. I was hoping to find others in the same situation to share inspiration, share tips, and advice on food in restaurants. Hope I find someone!! Sun, 9 Oct 2011 17:50:53 EST Online Coach Has anyone tried an online coach? Since I'm on the road 90% of the time, I could never have a regular workout schedule with a coach. But I've heard you can get a coach online who will meet with you by Skype and put you thru a workout in your hotel room.

I'd love to hear any experiences on this - good or bad. How did you find an online coach? How much did it cost? Did it work? Any advice? Tue, 4 Oct 2011 18:43:45 EST Why don't airports have smoothie bars? Greetings all!

I've coming into my busy season where I will be on the road at least once each month for the rest of the year. I travel weekly working with people in 16 states. A few years ago I lost ALL the weight I needed to lose using Weight Watchers and a regular exercise program. I was able to keep it off until I start my current position 2 years ago which requires me to be away from home two to three nights a week. Now I am staying in hotels and eating out regularly. I have put on much of the weight I lost and am feeling frustrated... Sat, 10 Sep 2011 08:58:14 EST Our water goal: What's up? Sun, 6 Mar 2011 18:49:55 EST How do you do it? After a hiatus for a few months, I'm heading out on the road again this week. I'm travelling from Tuesday this week until Thursday of next week, to the same city for the duration, as I start a new contract. I booked a room in a "suite hotel", with a fridge and microwave in the room, in the hope that I can manage some of my meals from there. For popcorn, I can substitute sunflower seeds or oven roasted peanuts. But I just can't find anything to replace the pork rind crunch. Any ideas? Yes, I've tried rice cakes.
